  • Aprilia RSV4: Fixing a Noisy Engine (Timing Chain Tensioner)
Hey everyone, welcome back to the channel! Today we're tackling a common gremlin for some early Aprilia RSV4s - a noisy engine. This is often caused by a failing timing chain tensioner. Luckily, there's an updated part that Aprilia released to fix this issue permanently. So, let's jump in and see how to get your RSV4 purring like a kitten again!
*Disclaimer:* Before we begin, remember to consult your RSV4's service manual for specific torque specs and procedures. This video is for informational purposes only, and working on a motorcycle can be risky. If you're not comfortable with the process, seek help from a qualified mechanic.
Once everything is back in place, fire up your RSV4 and listen for any unusual noises. If the timing chain tensioner was the culprit, your engine should sound much smoother and quieter now. Take your bike for a test ride, paying attention to performance and for any leaks.
    *Final thoughts:*
Fixing a noisy timing chain on an Aprilia RSV4 with the updated tensioner is a straightforward process, but it does require some mechanical knowledge. If you're unsure about tackling this job yourself, don't hesitate to take your bike to a trusted mechanic.
Thanks for joining me today! If you enjoyed this video, give it a thumbs up and subscribe to the channel for more motorcycle maintenance tips and tricks. Until next time, ride safe!

Just curious, why not just change the camchain/timing chain since you're changing the tensioner too

@@molarmassz because the chains don't wear out, the tensioner was a common issue for failure and was modified with a new part number 👍

Where was the o-ring on that... :) ? It should have one, but still great way to change the tensioner if one needs it to be replaced. However without the o-ring, the new one probably won't work any better than the old one. Aprilia part number 857176 for that o-ring..

Thanks for the upload, is this the same process on the 17+ 1100s?
