    This is a video to illustrate how the Neutrik NCJ6FI-S TRS / XLR Combination Jack is installed. In this example we are hooking up 4 TRS/XLR combo jacks, and 4 standard XLR jacks being fed from a balanced snake.

    Really helpful thanks! Strangely I haven't been able to find this anywhere else in terms of a diagram, etc. So what I took away from this video....
    XLR(1) = TRS(Sleeve) = GRND
    XLR(2) = TRS(Tip) = HOT
    XLR(3) = TRS(Ring) = COLD.
    Oh, and leave lots of slack! :) THANK YOU for this video.

    Use needle nose pliers to help hold the wires. It saves your fingers from the heat and helps be more surgical with the placement.

    Great tutorial! I have a question; planning on using 8 of the TRS XRL combo plugs for input (as shown in the video above), and an aditional 4 as output plugs. Is this possible? And if, is the soldering prosess the same? Planning on using 4x Jack - XLR female from my DA output through the TRS XLR combo plugs shown above

    I have these combo connectors. Great vid!!! For some reason my 1/4” cables will only go 90% in and hard stop. I’ve new to this combo connector so am I doing something wrong? I’m being careful and not jamming them the rest of the way in!!! Thx much.

    I used regular mic cable with the jacket, instead of using individual strands. Would that be okay? The continuity tests all pass. Thank you!

    I’ve soldered in two of these so I can make a connection from one room to another, but when I plug my amp into one end, the amp gets very noisy. What’s the deal?

    This video was very helpful. As someone new to soldering, could you point me to what you are using for those short black solder cup insulators? Did you purchase or make them?

      Glad it helped you! All of the heat shrink was cut to size. You can also buy pre-cut lengths of heat shrink from a company like Redco. 1/8-1/4" diameter should be fine.

    Do all the combo jacks come like this OR are there ones you can buy already jumped? Seems like a lot of extra work otherwise.

    • @hitwarehouse
      @hitwarehouse  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Scott smith I'm pretty sure all of the combo jacks come bare, and without jumpers. You could order some pre-builtfrom Chris @ Redco.com though! Their prices are very reasonable.

    What does the other end of the snake look like? I do not see it mentioned. Is it an XLR, TRS or what?

    Great video, i soldered a panel yesterday and im getting a pretty loud buzz from it (that wasnt there when connecting directly to the interface) any idea what will cause that?

    • @andyhatfield8597
      @andyhatfield8597 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have the same buzz. ADiSH, did you ever solve the buzz problem. Mine only buzzes when I connect the 1/4 plug.

      I did actually, i switched from plastic connectors to better metal ones and used a better cable (im not sure which one fixed it)

    can you solder direct without the jumpers?

    • @hitwarehouse
      @hitwarehouse  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Lane Cyphers You can solder direct for either XLR or 1/4" input, however you will be committed to whatever you soldered to. If you solder direct to XLR, 1/4" input will not work. If you plan on doing this, you'd better off getting a standard XLR or 1/4" jack, instead of a combo jack.

      instead of using long wires y wouldnt u just use a short piece to jump straight form pole to pole?

    • @connork322
      @connork322 7 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Yes. Neutrik recommends jumping from pole to pole with shorties. Also Lane, the answer to your question is Yes! If you wanted, you could wire the 1/4in and the XLR to different places entirely (i.e. line in vs. xlr in on an audio mixer)
