    A long time ago I purchased a 1952 Ford truck like this for $50. It was seized, was painted gold using a brush with house paint. Had some rust, but it had a Mercury Flathead V8. I got it unstuck by filling the cylinders with auto trans fluid and letting it sit for a week, then rocking it back and forth against 3erd gear until the crank moved. Then I cleared the cylinders and put new plugs in it. Fired it up and smoke fogged the area. Lol. I used it as a general purpose truck for years, used as much oil as it did gas (pits in the cylinder bores you know). Memories.

    Brings back memories for me. My dad and I had a 51 Ford that we rebuilt together when I was in high school. Found the truck in a field, took 2 years to complete it.

    Don't forget oil level in fan hub and few drops in distributor and generator
    Fan hub lubricant critical check every 3 months or sitting long periods
    On fan hub what looks like a small screw head is oil fill .. 30 wt winter 40 summer
    Put in 1.5 ounces in once you remove screw head its a 1 inch machine screw
    Make sure its at 12 position fill 1.5 to 2 oz oil then clock to 6 position to drain excess
    Then back to 12 replace screw snug tight .. few drops in dist and gen
    Use marvel mystery oil in fuel for upper lubricant when running a engine out of hibernation
    Loved the video

    • @rustycaveman
      @rustycaveman  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      did not think about the fan hub. I have seen the oil cap door on the distributor.

    • @quagmiredavis4117
      @quagmiredavis4117 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@rustycaveman you want a 45 pound fan assembly going thru radiator
      Don't rev until oil topped off same for gen and distributor bronze bushings are dry
      Marvel mystery oil in fuel helps lubricant valves rings
      30 wt valvoline oil or Napa oil ... same brand
      I own 15 of these trucks F 1 thru F5

    Hell yeah. I can't believe that starter took that beating. I've been waiting for a replacement spring for the Bendix starter on the 50' F6 ever since I tried that, lol. Good job.

    I have owed a 52 F1 for over 15 years and drive it a couple days each week when weather permits . I have quite a few videos up about it ..cold starts , walk arounds . They are a blast t9 drive and there are lots of aftermarket parts available to keep it running . Great 1st start video .

    In Wisconsin these old Ford trucks are very rare even as far back as the mid-60s and the late '60s they didn't see many of them what there was a lot of was 51 52 and 53 Chevrolet pickups into the state off and on you'll see a few of these Chevrolet pickups for sale somewhere

    Rad man, the '52s are my favorite of the 50s Ford trucks. Run some Seafoam and Marvel Mystery oil or Berrymans in the oil, will help loosen up those rings and clean out the carbon. Congrats man.

      I have lots of video leading up to this moment, not yet on TH-cam. first, use fresh gas, nothing from the tank. I have hooked up a small plastic tank. second, don't use original wiring. I definitely had grounding issues, frayed wires. finally check timing and clean the points.
