Hi Martin. Iam really happy when find your video here! I step by step walk approx 95% same shoe like you! I buy a TGB R125X 3months before! I find this TGB One of my friends backyard. (The scooter stay 4 years at same place before I buy it) I drill out the main stand rotted bolts, etc, etc. Now the restored scooter is working well, never have any problem (coz the engine block, is 1 of the best!) The parts is cheap 2... Iam happy when see, not just I have difficult restoration :) !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Martin i forgot this thing that u said is flash under the headlights and i had wash it if water went on it can i change it and it will be ok!!!!!!!PLEASE ANSWER!!!!!!!!!!!!I APRICIATE YOUR WORK AND YOUR PASSION ABOUT FIXING SCOOTERS‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️
Do these r50x have a low oil sensor? I have the same issue, tries to start but wont even with starting fluid. Everything is new, carb, sparkplug, coil, fuel filter, rectifier, got good spark and compassion. It only has 525 miles on it. Im stuck.
i paid 30 quid 3 years ago for a honda scooter. the piston was foobared. so bought a second hand engine for 90 quid. dropped that in and was well into getting the scooter back on the road. then the mrs had a go in the garden and crashed it in to a fence smashing all the fareing and lights lol. its still out there now, this vid makes me think shall i drain it and clean it all to try and kick start it up and running again. nice vid martin.
Dose this bike have a side stand switch and a kill switch from factory as I have recently but one as a none runner and I have no spark at all fitted every part that controls spark all new and still nothing
A couple of things to look out for, from my own experience with my sons chinese scooter are 1. The side stand switch, which if dirty or corroded can stop the bike from starting but this usually cuts power to the electric start worth a look though. 2. The automatic choke can stick - if you remove it and connect the wires across a battery you should see it move. When the bike is stopped the choke is automatically switched on, then after starting, current through the choke slowly closes it.
Hi Martin, I recently bought a Tgb R50X and its doing what you say in the video it was reeving really high like up to 12,000 then just cut out and now it starts if I leave it for a hour or too then it stays on for 30 seconds then goes off agine please help me,Thanks Martin, Harrison p.s love the Beatles Poster !!😜
+Harrison dyte It's hard to say without seeing t but it sounds like a carb issue. that's where I would start by taking it out and making sure the cables are adjusted correctly as well as the choke. Cheers Martin
Some of these mopeds were fitted with a remote start facility (which were a right pain in the proverbial) - could that be the 2 unattached wires under the headlight panel?
I think it has something to do with the flasher relay. I did connect it back up but won't know until I rebuild the engine. Thanks for your comment. Cheers Martin
thats alright :) my old mans an electrical engineer so he has taught me a fair bit which has helped with a few engine conversion etc. there is nothing worse than picking up/trying to fix someone else work no matter if its electrics, bodywork, plumbing etc and some of the things ive seen people try to try and fix something makes me wonder why they even attempted it
Could you possibly send me a photo of the wiring diagram you have? Ive been trying to put together my tgb r50x scooter for years with no hope. I can send you my email

4:30 what’s the connector with the yellow wire on the far left of the screen for? An alarm possibly??
It is for an alarm. I can confirm, as I got an alarm for my r50x

Ha ha Kristian, get it out and give it a go. See what you can do with it,
Good luck.
Hey buddy. Does this have a non serviceable carburetor? Have one that leaks a lot on startup. Stuck float?
Not sure bud till I come to repair it.

If I remember right, it did.

@@LouisRobinson-s8n we don't have the bike any more bud, sorry.

on my tgb r50x i am restoring i have t black wires i dont know if they both go to the battery or if one is a ground to frame
The two wires are for the 12v socket in the trunk
Hi mate do u know if it's possible to change kilometres to mph ??
Will I be better off with a 2 stroke or 4 stroke keep in mind I'm not a stick im quite chubby
Where can I find the diagram for it? I cannot find it anywhere and for me, the dash display always stays on for the 2006.
Not sure bud. Sorry.
Nevermind, turns out it was a weak battery that caused it. After changing it, it worked fine.
Mate I'm stuck on only 2 wires now . The black with yellow and the black with green r dangling out the front of my tcb, anybody able to help please
Do you have a download for the wiring diagram for me?
+Castor v No, sorry bud.
Cheers
Martin
Diagram would really help
You can refer us to where you got it
Martin, don't know if I told you this before, but I love your music intro to your videos. =)

Power source is the cigarette lighter under the seat for phone charging i think
that looks like my standard of electrics :)
good work on the bike so far fella although rather you than me
The electrics don't phase me as I was a sparks, I just hate picking up after someone else has made alterations.
Cheers

I know what you mean lol
The resistor block is a security feature for the key , so it won’t start without proper resistance
I'd guess that power source is something ignition related like a coil or something
Or maybe it's a switched live that comes in with key to power up cdi etc. Where does it go
FiftyRacer
I found out what it was. It's a feed for a 12v socket that is supposed to be under the seat but it had been removed.
ahh that makes sense u got it going yet?
Not touched it as my knee is playing up.
Little white part is resistor, he works when you turn your lights off
Man , Someone did a hack job on that poor thing ! I bet you get if sorted out Martin .. Looking better though !!
Cheers Shawn, yeah, i'll sort it now i've got rid of all that dodgy wiring.
Cheers
Martin
It's the worst thing fixing other peoples bodges.
Your not wrong there Tim. Makes fault finding difficult.
