I have to say, I've heard hundreds of audiobooks and stories, but the narration of that guy drinking the whiskey is probably the best voice acting I've ever heard. It is so completely convincing you really feel like he's real, and you're standing there listening to him. I've read and listened to this story several times before, yet I found myself getting nervous for him, and willing him mentally to shut up before he gets himself killed, lol. And he isn't even real! This was brilliant!!!

Mike Bennett does a great Zadok Allen (the guy drinking whiskey), but I feel Richard Coyle does him the best, and tells the story of Innsmouth the best, albeit it being an abridged version.

When I go to bed, I play some of Lovecraft's audiobooks to listen while falling asleep, and whenever I forget to switch off the autoplay, I ALWAYS wake up here. Coincidence? :D This morning I woke up suddenly and the first thing that I heard was "Esoteric Order of Dagon" I and was like "Oh, not again!" :D Obviously my desire to read the story is getting stronger and stronger!

No, I was just busy reading other Lovecraft stories and I'm kinda saving the best for last. :D Not that I have read every single one of his stories, but of those that have been translated in my language a few are left (including this one) and then I'll start reading the rest in original.

Coming as I do from Merseyside, what I'm looking for in Innsmouth is Dagon's Fish 'n' Chip Shop. I've heard it's the best on the planet. Can one of you fishy folk gimme directions?

Curse the fiends, their children too, and their children’s children forever true. Byrgenwerth...Byrgenwerth...Blasphemous murderers...Blood-crazed fiends...Atonement for the wretches...By the wrath of Mother Kos...Mercy for the poor, wizened child...Mercy, oh please...
Lay the curse of blood upon them, and their children, and their children's children, for evermore. Each wretched birth will plunge each child into a lifetime of misery. Mercy, for the poor, wizened child...Let the pungence of Kos cling, like a mother's devotion...Curse here, curse there. A curse for he, and she, why care. A bottomless curse, a bottomless sea, source of all greatness, all things that be. Listen for the baneful chants. Weep with them, as one in trance. And weep with us, oh, weep with us.. Listen for the baneful chants. A call to the bloodless, wherever they be. A call to the bloodless, wherever they be. Fix your ears, to hear our call. The grand lake of mud, hidden now, from sight.

Is it strange that I had a dream about Shadow Over Innsmouth before I ever knew and heard about Lovecrafts work? I had this dream when I was around 8 or 9 y/o. And I dreamt it again back when I was 14 then I dream it again over and over just a week ago and last was last night, but last night was a little different because in the end of my dream the Deep Ones got me and made me like them. This all started before I even knew about H.P Lovecrafts stories. When I did heard about his story everything to me sounded familiar because it felt like I have been in it. I'm still weirded out a little bit until now.
