    Another tip id like to throw in is if you’re going to sit down/take a break mid-slope, always do so at the top of a hill. This will allow everyone coming down the slope to see you way ahead of time, rather than last second when it’s too late

      even when you're riding alone on a casual day of groomed runs, just don't even get on the lift if you're feeling like it might be the last one for the day. if you're tired, or not totally stoked, you're probably done. just walk away before you make a sloppy mistake and injure yourself. you can always ride another day unless you hurt yourself just trying to get another run in when you're tired.

    I'm not a superstitious person, but the "never call last run" makes so much sense to me (once you know you're about to finish the day, you tend to relax; and paired with exhaustion from a full day of riding, it's a dangerous combination) that I won't even call last run in my head. I'll always say to myself something along the lines of "let's do a couple more, and see how I feel" xD

    #4 is legit. I don't get why people always joke around and promote drunk snowboarding. It's basically like DUI, you're putting yourself AND others around you in danger. I once witnessed a guy on top of the run wasted, dude couldn't even stand up straight, I offered my help but he resisted. On my way down on my third run I saw ski patrol carrying 2 boarders down and one of them is him. Turns out he was so intoxicated that he board down in a straight line without braking and fell and hit another boarder's head, cracked his helmet. If the boarder didn't wear a helmet it would've been BAD!

    • @mascatrails661
      @mascatrails661 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@exorder2005 It is part superstition and part awareness/caution. It's not just about using the words 'last run' but about making the choice to squeeze one more run in at the end of a day when the fatigue is already starting to set in. It's also often on that 'last run' that people tend to wanna throw that thing they've been thinking of all day or just add some amplitude or speed to what they'd been doing comfortably. Having gone from a 'last run' into surgery, I've certainly changed my attitude.

      @@mascatrails661 I always treat my last few runs as a cool down. As soon as I get fatigued (usually I notice because I actually start to get worse at the tricks I've been practicing all day), I will not try any new tricks anymore. I just do some easy jumps with basic grabs and 50/50s on features I did hundreds of times, as a form of cool down. This way I can always close the day satisfied.
      Different topic though, but I always do a warm up as well. I rarely see people do it, but as soon as I exit the first lift I stop to really warm up my muscles, makes for such a better day. And you're so much less likely to get injured with a warmed up body. Button lifts are my favorite as you can keep doing warm up exercises in playful form on the way up.

      Edges, as a freestyler doing NOTHING at my edges, I can confirm you wont need them, somewhat..
      Binding tunes, as a advanced rider I can confirm, 90% of peoples bindings are not where and how they are supposed to be adjusted, for their body posture and or riding style.

    • @ActionXander

    Don’t ride on icy pre-season or end-season conditions.
    Not to say you can’t, but when you do make an inevitable mistake, the terrain is much less forgiving. AFAIK, most deaths on the mountain occur during these parts of the season, people go flying off the run and into trees because the ice/hard-pack snow becomes a giant ice luge.

      when most people call last run (of the day) typically you and or others push a little "extra" hard. Well, by this point you are probably physically tired so you are more prone to make mistakes. Couple that with feeling "under pressure" to make the last run a good one you end up with many instances of going too big/fast or going for a feature you shouldnt have tried that late in the day leading to many season ending injuries.

      Merino 4 ever bro!! since I discovered it years ago, it's the only thing I wear even on street, love merino shirts pants hoodies whatever, the only downside is that it's more sensible and suceptible to tear, but fuck it I'd wear a ripped, trashed up merino shirt .I wore a shirt for two weeks without washing it, only letting it in fresh air, and still felt better than a freshly washed cotton shirt, nobody could tell that the merino shirt was not fresh. Also in the summer it regulates the temperature because it breathes better and in the winter has a great thermic value keeps you very warm.For example I can stand -20C and feel warm, and same clothes at 0 or + and still feel good and not overheating. I rarely write comments on youtube, but for Merino I had to make an effort. Write a comment after you get a shirt,/if you get one and tell the world about the power of merino. Cheers!

    Always wear a helmet. Many years ago it was cool to not wear helmets. There are still a few out there who think this way. Don’t be like them

    Please don't bomb the hill only on your heel edge, I see this far too often now where riders refuse to learn to ride on their toe edge and snowflake down at higher speeds thinking they have the skills to ride faster and they simply don't and it can really hurt you doing that.
