This is such a good movie. I realize that it's part of a long line of Die-Hard style action movies (this one is Die Hard On A Plane), but people should really re-watch it now that we're 25 years past that context. It's intense, it's terrifically acted and paced, and the score is fantastic.
Nothing like a fun, ridiculous movie to turn off the brain cells to and watch action.

They mentioned earlier in the movie that the plane was “bullet resistant” to explain that away.

Great movie. Too bad that no team of people could be this good in real life, especially on Air Force One. So many locked compartments, drills, retired special forces team leaders, etc.

In a situation like this the probably wouldn’t take the vp to the WH considering it could also be a target. They would take her to a secure bunker and secure all others in the immediate line of succession.

Laughably unrealistic. But if you don't think about it too much, it is a fun way to kill a couple hours.
The CGI crash of the plane at the end really stands out as being bad. We could say it's an old movie and the CGI wasn't great back then, but they should've seen that and used a scale model instead. It would've looked so much better.
Well, the Rwandan genocide began when the Rwandan President's plane was shot down. Not that I'm an expert on how Air Force One security works (although I do know that they always have fighter jets around it, not just when something goes wrong)

also kill everyone? The highjackers had more goals other than getting the president. Getting themselves and/or everyone before it happens is not ideal

There are a host of things the pilot could have done and the plane will not only land, but also stop and bricked and becomes impossible for them to start up again. But movie logic.

Hey, so what did you wanted secret service to pack inside air force one? Man portable mortars? Crew served machine guns? Maybe some light artillery?
The hijackers got the weapons from the Secret Service's own stash onboard the plane. They did have SMG's, assault rifles and stun/smoke grenades, but one of their own members handed these over to the hijackers.
They have an armoury on board and that's how the bad guys took over the plane. The Secret Service agents were using their primary service weapons

Actually it doesn't have a fighter escort everywhere it goes, at least back then. The fighters would scramble like this. This was pre 9/11, think of on 9/11 they had to scramble fighters once AF1 departed Florida only then did it have an escort for the rest of the flight

This was the movie I watched when I was growing up. It was a America fuck yeah movie. That made me want to be an American. Went to study there too. And then I see Chicago main street and Skid Row. And experience American politics and racism. Yeah.... Fuck no.
