    Your work in the Tomislav book is just beautiful ❤ I collect the Japanese and korean colouring books. They can be so much nicer than british books

    I had never seen the majority of those books so thank you for that, it's always fun to see books no one talks about anymore. It just goes to show how more books come every day and how easy it is to forget about what you already have. I've destashed my collection twice and still probably have enough pages to color for the rest of my life and not get to them.... yet just bought another one yesterday lol.

      Know exactly what you mean. Always good to go through your book shelves every couple of months or so to refresh your memory and pick out something you might have forgotten about

    Great unusual books. It is so nice to finally see someone who does not always colour in the common books that we see in every colourist TH-cam channel. So thank you for this. I would love to see your colour ( in a video) in the Japanese book ( the one you bought 2 copies of) and in the Stephanie Law’s book as well. I bought them because of you even though I do not know how to start them for the life of me 😂

    • @ColouringwithK
      @ColouringwithK  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      That’s a good idea, I will try to do a partial colour along so talk through and demonstrate different parts of the page and techniques in a Japanese book. It’s just a bit demoralising as those sort of videos require a lot of time and effort but get very few views. I’ll still plan to do one though

    Thank you for sharing this! I saw a lot of books that I don't have and I'd like to get! Some of them I have looked for and was unable to find them(on Amazon US) so I'll have to keep searching! A while back I saw the Vintage My Room book on Amazon but there was only one copy and it was selling for $50! I just couldn't bring myself to pay that much for it, although I do love it and I'd love to have a copy!

    Hi K! Thank you for this video! I love intricate coloringbooks. The Tomislav Tomic books are favourite and i have those ( i didn’t colour in them yet). A couple of months ago i bought Wildergorn from Jamie Courtier and this mega big book is my favourite now. I did not colour in it yet, because it is so beautifull i don’t want to ruin it for this price. But one day……i have to hurry i am not yhe youngest anymore 😂😂😂!

    Do you recall what brand of alcohol markers you were using? I've used my Ohuhu extensively and never had them bleed yellow like that. I adore everything about the Mythographic series, the art, the paper, the size, etc. If I had to give up all my other books those are the ones I would keep. The only negative is they have a tendency to fall apart due to the perforated pages, I spiral bind all my books these days though and it solves that. Regarding those complicated pages I go in with my pastel alcohol markers and base the entire page first. Just a flat layer of pale color with no attention to shading. It lets me figure out what is what and get a "map" of the page. Then color or paint over the top. The pastel markers are light enough that it really doesn't matter exactly what shade they are as long as the basic hue is correct, but it helps so much and really speeds up the coloring after since you have that basic first layer covering the white. You could easily do the same thing with any pastel medium that doesn't fill the tooth.. tombow, watercolor, etc.

    • @ColouringwithK
      @ColouringwithK  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the tips, must try that but with detailed books I’m worried the alcohol marker tip will bleed out of the lines. May be I need to get really fine tip alcohol markers. Do you know any brands with fine tips and pastel shades? The ones that yellowed were the Arteza ever blend markers, the first ones that came out (bullet and chisel tip ones)

    • @waymire01
      @waymire01 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ColouringwithK I love the Ohuhu Honolulu B's. They have a brush on one end and a fine tip on the other. They have two 48 piece pastel sets now for a total of 96 pastel colors.. I have the first original one which I'm 90% sure is the "sweetness" set now.. it's the one with Light Prawn if you are looking at the listings. It's fabulous because it has a warm and cool pastel for every hue, including actual red (not pink), grey, and brown. The other pastel set is lovely too but not as versatile. They also have gorgeous skin and greytone sets with very unique colors compared to other brands. I'd love to get the full set someday, but it's expensive since there are around 300 markers in it...and honestly the way I use them as bases with pencils over the top that one pastel set is enough for any page. I have collected a few other open stock markers from Hobby Lobby's house brand for dark backgrounds.. that is a craft store here in the US. They are cheap when on sale and have a brush tip.. they work fine for background colors but I wouldn't want to use them on fine detail. Unfortunately Ohuhu doesn't offer open stock but I've heard they are now selling ink refills for many of their colors, and replacement tips.

    The Tomislav Tomic books are my favorites. I just love them. I, too, wish he would do another. But then the Basford books are a close second. For me, some books are TOO detailed. I do not like large areas of blank spaces to be colored, but I get cross-eyed if every little space needs to be individually colored! I would love to see a flip-through sometime of the pages you completed in the Tomic books; the pictures I briefly saw looked--as always--stunning.
