    This was the gpu I dreamed of having all through the gpu shortage/scalper pandemic. Then in September a rich friend bought me an RX 6600 for my birthday, though by that time prices had already started normalizing so I probably could’ve gotten one myself lol. But back when I was stuck with my RX 460 there was nothing else I could think of than an RX 5500 XT

    • @Vixen1525

      And now a rx 6800 costs 500 Euros. How fast prices are changing. I would have opted for a 5700 or 6700 but the 6600 is great for Hd gaming but 5 months ago a 5700xt did cost 300 euros used so yeah. But it sounds like that you have or had your 6600 for longer than the time you wrote your comment so I would say congrats for getting an awesome GPU as a present ^~^.

    Wanted to get a GTX 1660 Super/Ti for my first pc build (that was at the end of 2020), but 5500 XT 8GB was much cheaper in my area - I don't regret my purchase. Paired with a Ryzen 5 1600 AF (which was only €100 brand new), it serves me well for light-moderate gaming with a 72 Hz monitor.

    I got two of my kids these back in 2020. I paid £180 each for them, Powercolor Red Dragon and MSI Mech. My friends said I should of got the RX 580 which was £160 new at the time.
    The 5500XT 8gb has come on strong and I feel performs inbetween a 1660 and 1660 Super.

      Correct. I tested both GPUs in Forza using the 5600G, so the 6500XT (a gen 4 x4 card) has been limited to gen 3 x4 and lost half of its PCIE bandwidth, giving the 5500XT an advantage. It’s would have been more fair if I had tested them both on a gen 4 system, but it’s too late now 😔

    I find reviewers to either be paid off, threatened into submission, or par-taking in market manipulation. I use to make games, I got emails from reviewers all the time either trying to extort me for money for positive reviews, or free crap, or else they'd give me a bad review. I was so small I didn't care either way. After watching the hardware unboxed incident I saw reviewers go from reviewing AMD 6000 series positively to purely negative. I suspect most of them feared losing their free nvidia review cards and just crapped all over AMD to please nvidia. I had nvidia 1660ti, 1060ti, 1030, 740, and out of amd camp I have had 6500xt and 6700xt. I had far more in the past decade but the 6870 1gb I had for nearly 7 years prior with no upgrades and it treated me kindly, and prior to that I had a nvidia 6800 gt for about the same time period. I found that the reviewers basically outright lied when it came to every AMD review after the hardware unboxed incident, and even used charts to make the 6800xt and 6900xt worse than they really were as well, most faked their data and lied in the reviews or would make a minor issue sound much bigger than it really was such as the 6500xt with no hardware encoding and making bold knowledgeable lying claims about it claiming you can't record gameplay or stream at all with this card in your system. I paired the 6500xt with the athlon 3000g, it is a extremely low budget machine and the 6500xt was only bought to improve the athlon 3000g I already had. That didn't stop a microcenter sales man to try to upsell me on a used 2060 that was double the cost and tried trash talking the 6500xt because some reviewer told him it was the worst card even in which he tried to refuse to sell me the card even though I explained to him what my use case was. He was only trying to sell me Nvidia cards and would even refuse to sell me a 6600 non-xt. I had to get one of his coworkers to get me the card, and his coworker Id known for years and he even told the guy I knew what I was doing and he still threw a fit like a rampit nvidia fanboy calliing all AMD cards shit and garbage in front of karen customers.
    Back to reviewers,
    Gamers nexus review of the 6700xt, there is his normal review and then there is his yeston wifu addition review. His normal review he craps all over the card acting as if it was the worst thing ever made, which used those faked charts and they are faked as his yeston review showing the same card shows all the AMD cards he compares it to to being better and the nvidia cards being worse if you compare one chart to the other chart. This to me is a clear cut case of reviewers are threatened into submission, are paid off, and partake in market manipulation. And that microcenter employee who refused to sell me a 6500xt which I was pairing with a athlon3000g tells me people listen to reviewers too much. There are many use cases in which both card manufactors topple each other at. In the new market there isn't a better cheaper card than the 6500xt. It is the best in its price bracket, in performance of games, and linux support. Nvidia is getting better with linux support but, it is still a nightmare across the board. My 1660ti tried to kill itself because the nvidia drivers couldn't figure out how to turn on the fans, I had to manually do it with editing drivers configuration scripts and then use greenwithenvy just to control the fans based off temp, and then ran into compatablity issues across the board and this was on every linux distro. I still run into compatablity issues on my AMD card, but that is mostly with distros like pop_os! That pretty much have nvidia driver support out of the box, and subpar intel amd driver support. Pop_os! has a slew of issues that actually make it worse than using ubuntu in its current state, and ubuntu in its current state is pretty bad due to package management systems and the software centers lack of support and many appliations just don't run on either correctly. Especially programming software.

      @syedarman4720 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The 6500xt is a bad card so reviewers were not actually wrong. Even on PCIe 4.0 and resize bar turned on I saw games stuttering like hell on high because of limited VRAM. I can ignore the lack of media encoder but not when my game starts stuttering terribly. AMD could have easily given us 8GB or at least 6 but they took advantage of the situation. This card made sense 1 year before but not anymore coz in my country used 2060s are selling for between 200-220$ and I think they are much better. Although AMD released an 8GB version of 6500xt recently, they are late. That should have been the original card

    • @floralpoboop
      @floralpoboop 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@syedarman4720 6500xt sure is bad when compared to something double or more its price, but for its price bracket its actually the best thing you can get. A 3050 goes for litterally double the price, and when compared to a 5500xt its only marginally better. More vram isn't the only issue with the card how ever most of its limitations are from the 64bit bus, and not the vram. Used 2060s go for $200 now but back when the 6500xt launched they were easily $500+, and if you are argueing used prices you can get a 6500xt for $90. The problem with argueing used is you are comparing it to new, and even in the new catagory I have seen 6500xt's as low as $130 now with the average being around $150. But if you read my comment I go into great langth about how they treated the 6700xt, not the 6500xt. Reviewers out right lied about the 6500xt and the limitations set into motion based off not having hardware encoding making bold claims that they couldn't record gameplay at all without it. Which even a athlon3000g paired with a 6500xt can do. Nvidia was actually re-releasing 2060's at the same time in the launch window of the 6500xt, which made even less sense. The 6500xt is about on par with a 1660ti oced just with laughable raytracing support. For extreme low budget systems that you want a warenty on the 6500xt makes a lot of sense, but reviewers are not really keen on doing anything outside of systems that cost $4k+ unless it has nvidia's name on it primarly because they fear losing out on getting review copies of the cards as demonstraighted by the hardware unboxed incident where they said something slightly positive about a AMD card and got shat on for it and demanded they lose out on all future cards, it wasn't till the community outlashed at nvidia that they had reversed this decission and it is clear they didn't really reverse it more or less forced hardware unboxed to make a appology video to nvidia and remove any future claims of any positivity from AMD cards. This is what happened, this is fact, this is why reviewers do what they do when it comes to AMD, and they need to collectively give nvidia the middle finger but don't because they fear they might lose out on a $2000 graphics card for free early and lose out on their mark for getting the review out before the product is out. Even if you were to upgrade the vram the 64bit mem bus would be more of a issue, and even if you were to upgrade that the pcie x4 limitations would hit the fan. Litterally everything you are asking for is in the 6600 and is $100 more which reviewers also crapped on for being amd.

    I absolutely hated this graphics card, the performance in Fortnite was absolutely abysmal for me. It seemed that it wasn't even utilizing the GPU fully. I've since sold the graphics card but it only had an issue with Fortnite. Stutters and bad FPS. I was only getting like 70 fps with terrible stuttering on 1080p Performance Mode. Tested Elden Ring and it played quite nicely.

      Welp, I don't know what to say to that. Faulty sample? Driver issues? I don't often test PM as I see it as more useful for CPU comparisons than GPU, but I have been testing it using a GT 710 in the last few days, and with an overclock that card managed about 40 FPS. I'm not certain, but I'm quietly confident that a RX 5500 XT should be more than 2x faster than a GT 710!

      Performamce mode is for phones etc.
      Set it at low/medium and Epic view distance. My kids get 150fps plus on Fortnite with 5500xt 8gb.

    I honestly think Alien to the cube is the weakest Alien movie. Others may be technically worse, but they are at least more entertaining to watch.

    Don't the RX 5500XT have hardware encoding ? If so then the 5500xt win 😆
