The mega fuse covers can be a pain to take off!

Does anyone know why it's not reccommended to simply wire the battery (+) directly to the mega fuse, and the mega fuse to the solenoid? As opposed to battery (+) to solenoid and solenoid to mega fuse?
That way you'd only need 1 cable going to the starter solenoid

Maybe it’s just shorter distance going to the starter terminal rather than the battery terminal? 🤷

The starter will pull a lot of current. If after a hot soak, the starter may draw more current than the fuse could handle. The starter should remain wired directly to the battery.

    175 A ?

indeed, seems too high. 2 ga wire has about 180A max current rating. it's a quarter inch copper diameter. seems like the wires here are smaller. I would think the fuse should be such that it trips before the wires overheat. actually would guess a circuit breaker of appropriate size would make more sense

@@kev4241 Absolutely, right. And that's what I use on my first Gens Firebirds a circuit breaker.

@@kev4241 If you put 180 amps thru 2 gauge wire, you are going to have a fire.
