The reaction of your daughter just amazed me. this song is hard enough for adults to comprehend, but she was so sincerely happy 😆 how about a lyrical ballad from Epica? It's very beautiful, your girl will appreciate it: Epica - Once upon a nightmare (live version from “Omega alive”) Epica - Rivers (official video) also vocalist Simone Simons has an amazing cover of a song from Disney's The Little Mermaid: th-cam.com/video/aau6nI04G9k/w-d-xo.html
Epica is easily my favorite band right now, and I just saw them open for Sabaton last year. One of the better concerts I've seen. I'm glad you both enjoyed it. Similar to others I'd recommend something from their retrospect concert. My personal favorite is Design Your Universe. You could also do Sancta Terra from that show which has another vocalist that you both know well. That one shows a different side to Epica as well.
I love reactions exposing kids to metal, but it's frequently impossible to tell if they are actually enjoying it. When your daughter started air guitaring to this song, all doubts were removed. LOL. We've got a rocker here. Thank you!
I saw Epica finish with this song last night in Bristol - tiny venue, great sound. I don't think they gave any less of a performance than in the big shows.
Yeaaah one of the oldest hits of Epica and one of the best. Thank for your genuine reaction. So happy you loved it. Plz if you want to continue your journey through Epica, you have to react to the early "live in studio" songs (with a young Simone in 2005), which have been recently published on their TH-cam channel. For example "Cry for the moon" or "Phantom agony" which sound amazing with a choir and an orchestra.
Band mambers by Epica are Coen Jansen NL Keybord Mark Jansen NL Gitarr and Growls Vocals Simone Simons NL Bass Rob Van de Low NL and Issack delaye belgium Gitarr and Growls . Simone starts her Classic Vocal Training with 15 years . Behind listen Nightwish The Oceanborn Album from 1998 . But today Simone have her one singing style and is maby the beat soprano in Metall ❤️ 🤘
Title track to the 2nd album from 2005, and one of the heavier ones. yes ,it was the show closer, It is often used as such. This one doesn't have multiple parts. Kingdom of Heaven is the one with 3 songs labeled part 1 ,2, and 3. Guitarist Mark Jansen does most of the harsh vocals. Not everyone catches Coen Janssen's keyboard moving across the stage. It's on a track here, nowadays it's on wheels. In other songs , you'll see him with a portable keyboard. Plenty to choose from when you come back to EPICA. 8 albums and several EP's If you choose one of the Kingdom of Heavens next, they are all over 12 minutes.
@@metaldaddaughters Honestly, I was a bit concerned if you're gonna like it. Especially your daughter. It's quite heavy, with lot of growls. Most other Epica songs are predominantly Simone, and only some growls here and there. That being said, even heavy Epica songs are always melodic. I personally would leave the longer epic masterpieces (like Kingdom of Heaven) for later. Just discover some "shorter" 6-7 minute songs first. 😁 Any Epica video that has "Aftermovie" in its title is great! Usually lots of slow-mo shots and videos from different concerts mixed together. I would suggest this one for your next reaction: EPICA - A Phantasmic Parade (Official European Tour Principle Aftermovie) Lot od Epica songs have some pretty badass breakdown in the middle of the song and this one is exactly one of those. 🤘🙃
La Cantata del Diablo (live Mexico 2017) - Mago de Öz----- > just a Master piece Hijo de la Luna - Stravaganzza The Crown And The Ring (Lament Of The Kings)Live 2008 - Manowar Design your Universe (live Retrospect) / Cry for the Moon(live Retrospect) - Epica I remember you - Skid Row (live) Soulbound - Unleash the Archers Burning Time (live) / Dracula - Iced Earth Ategnatos / King - Eluveitie
Love your reaction Epica is an awesome band. You should check this songs you won't regret 😉🤘🏻 - Essence of Silence (official live) - Universal Death Squad (Official video) - Edge of the blade (Official video) - The Final Lullaby (Official video) All these songs have an amazing energy you would love
Just on a practical note, you can use the arrow keys to skip forward and backward in five-second increments. That makes it easier to go back a consistent amount. Also easy to double-or triple-press the arrow key to go back ten or fifteen seconds. Removes the guesswork of using a mouse.
Never really been into symphonic metal, except maybe Dimmu Borgir and such. But...this was pretty awesome! The guitarists voice was a cross between Amon Amarth and Opeth. It paired well with Simones beautiful operatic voice.🤘 I love it when Ava gets fired up. 🤘🐈🤘 Great reaction to a great song. You hear of Entheos Metal Dad? A woman fronted metal band. Absolutely brutal. Peace ✌️
That song is a masterpiece ... Id recomend the same song but live at retrospect with full orchestra and chior ... try to The essence of silence live official video
Not really into Epica, other than Simone Simon's awesome vocals. I should send Mark Jansen some Ricola 😆. You'll find symphonic metal has a huge following in Europe. They love their keyboards in metal. I'll give this one 7/10.
I used to also unlike growls, but i find a group that growled sometimes and often just a part of the song. It did not take long before i get used to it. Nowdays i enjoy growling. In this way i have find amazing music...
@ indeed, many great albums and songs. There are a few songs with some growling that I can listen to. One will be in my mixtape that Jim Newstead will publish soon (I hope) and the other is by Riverwood. The first song on the album Shadows and flames; the dragon born comes.

Simone recently collaborated with Apocalyptica who are their opening act on Epica's latest tour. The song is called Rise Again. It is stunning.

Music is great, I only don’t like the growling. It makes me feel uncomfortable; I’m highly sensitive, that’s why.
Listen to unleashed or code of life by Epica in that case
