Means offerd golden rock.
Sigiriya rock was originally a budhist monestry.
Before King KASHEPA decided to have his fortress Palace on top .
King KASHEPA requested budhist monks to shift the monestry to pidurangala rock .and the king by order offerd this ,
golden rock for the monks.
