  • Caught Between Tides Haulover Inlet Boats
Baker's Haulover Inlet is a man-made channel in Miami-Dade County, Florida. It connects the northern end of Biscayne Bay with the Atlantic Ocean. The inlet was cut in 1925 through a narrow point in the sand between the cities of Bal Harbour and Sunny Isles.
The inlet entrance channel is 400 feet wide and 14 feet deep. It's dangerous to navigate because it features:
    Sandbars
    Rock walls
    Strong tide currents
    Gusty onshore winds
There is no speed limit at Haulover Inlet.

The first boat is Stu Jones. Founder of the Florida Powerboat Club. Stu is sitting in port side seat. Not sure who is driving.

Cigarette, Midnight Express, MTI.....those are ALL big money boats. Not just the cost of the boat, but the high HP Merc engines can run $50K each for a refresh. Or $150K for a Cigarette triple !!! Cheers guys and those are some beautiful boats !

My dad had boats, I do not and don’t want one . I notice though that the boats in and out of there go as fast as they want with no regard for other boats in the area. My dad would always slow down in a crowded narrow passage .

I was thinking there was a speed limit drop at the bridge? Some seem to slow some not.
