Wall-E was the movie that made me realize the power of good writing. A scant amount of dialogue was able to pull out maximum emotions.

When you mentioned a time jump, the credits give it to you. Showing the robots and people working together. Which was foreshadowed when they were working together to get the plant to Eve. And how the captain said the earth needed to be cared for, which is amazing how the robots and people ended up working together to accomplish that. Plus it shows how Wall-e was the only one alive bc he was sentient. If you notice the ones in "jail" were robots who had personality, ones who didn't follow their "Directive". They ended up helping Wall-e and Eve. There is so much story with very little dialogue and its genius

If you watch the credits, you see that the Human rebuilt Earth into a livable planet again thru styles of art from various civilizations and the little plant went onto become a mighty tree.

Wall-E is one of the extremely few movies I immediately rewatched as it ended, and loved rewatching it. And I've watched a !"%!-ton of movies. 120" projected cinema here, with studio speakers and considering upgrading to a laser projector, despite my old one being pretty good as is.

WALL-E is the name of the model of robot, which stands for Waste Allocation Load Lifter - Earth Class. Buy N Large is the company that made him.

I didn't realize this movie was a romance early on, plus that scene towards the end when EVE replaced his circuitry, I teared first time as I told myself that she unknowingly reset him, it's like family with Alzheimer's.

Wall-E is a great example of a succeful victory in a movie that is not achieved by the protagonist. Eve, as the secondary-protagonist is the one who ultimately has to challenge herself, to find a new directive, to throw away all the expectations her programming put on her. Meanwhile Wall-E, the protagonist, is hurt and incapacitated for the last part of the movie until Eve saves him. He had already reached his "peak-goodness"; Eve was the one who still needed to grow, and the ending left room for her to do that.
Actually in the original version of the script the roles were reversed. Eve was the one who got hurt in the end, not Wall-E. And Wall-E saved the day and saved Eve. But the writers realized that the final apotheosis of the film shouldn't belong to Wall-E, it had to belong to Eve. A great realization that improved the ending a lot.
They actually tried to pull a similar stunt recenlty in Raya and the Last Dragon. Giving the role of solving the ultimate problem tot a secondary character rather than the movie's hero. In my mind it didnt work nearly as well in Raya as it did in Wall-E.
But that might be a personal thing.

I really like that Auto isn't some evil sentient AI that wants to take over or destroy humanity. It's mostly just an unfeeling robot following the last directive given to it by the highest level of the chain of command. Auto may be doing bad and even cruel things, but the there's no malicious intent. Which I think is scarier to some degree

In case you didn't realize, or no one else has said it. Wall-E had the Solar Panel for his engery. He's solar powered, which DOES being up some questions about the timeline on the ship.
(Edit) "Y'all know I don't really cry in movies."
I mean, Idk about that....I recall something about the sweetness, or cuddliness, or even sweetness of the Harry Potter owls almost bringing tears. 🤣 Love your reactions though.
(Final Edit) That is indeed not how buttons work, but he also started Tasering it the final time. Which I'm pretty sure is still not how buttons work, but this is Fiction. Where hitting electrical buttons with MORE electricity just overcharges them, instead of blowing the fuses.

    Great reaction as usual!!!
14:35 - "Really! You guys are next to each other".
What is depicted right here is the reality of what cellphones have become to the younger generation. I've been in a room full of family members and everyone who had a cellphone was on it. So this scene is not that far of from today's world.

Yes, the subtitles ARE helpful...BUT.. I hate the fact that every time Wall-E says Eve's name "EVE-Ahhh", the subtitles read "Eve". He cannot say her name properly, which is at once endearing and part of his character. Big mistake with the subtitles there ....
There is also a side feature on the DVD called Burn-E. It is about the little welder robot you see that gets locked out of the Axiom when Wall-E and Eve arrive there. Really cute, too.
I am glad you laugh and enjoy this Pixar movie classic. Disney bought Pixar well after Wall-E was released. So is a Pixar creation, not Disney.....

The red eye of the Autopilot must be a reference to HAL 9000 from the movie 2001: A Space Odyssey, the masterpiece by Stanley Kubrick.
I would love to see you reacting to that cinematic experience from 1968 (one year before the first Moon landing). You will be floored, and spoiled by all the quality of its filmmaking.

I know what it's like to have been forgotten by someone you love... I was Wall-E... I lived with my girlfriend who changed over the years and I was alone. Waiting for the woman I loved to come back. Waiting for her to remember who she was when she loved me.. I could have left at any time.. Given up and gone home.. But I stayed. Every day I would tell her that I loved her. Every day, I looked after her and the house, her car, and the pets. I kept hoping that the good person she was would come back. I would see her from time to time. Peeking though the person she became. She was still in there.... -- She died in my arms of cancer this June.. I'd taken her to the hospital and I was there every day with her.. In the end, I got the "Quantum Leap" ending... -- I spent years holding my own hands like Wall-E and praying that things would change. Sometimes, there are no happy endings. Or redemption. (addendum :. "Quantum Leap" was a TV show from the 90s in which Dr. Beckett would leap from person to person, year to year, and put the wrong things right. The last episode, ends on a black screen with the words, "Dr. Sam Beckett never returned." --- Fans were in an uproar because all those seasons of waiting to see if he gets home, and we felt like we got gypped. --- It's only when you look back at it as an older person that you realize he made the right choice. That the hero's job, is never really done.) -- In my relationship, I felt cheated. That had there been more time, maybe the good person she was would have come back. In the last six months, I lost her, the house, I had to give our pets to the shelter... And now I'm truly alone. Just me and the ghosts. The memories of the happy and the sad. And I will always be haunted by the last image in my head of her laying in a very quiet room turning blue and cold in the dim light.. No matter how long we had, it wasn't long enough. And those last months flew through me like angry birds with razors..

Regarding the robot names, they're acronyms for what they do. Not sure what WALL stands for, but the E means "Earth Class."

The Wall stands for Waste Allocation Load Lifter. So the E is Earth and the giant WALL-A's are Axiom class.

Loved Wall-E, loved your reaction! Movie about a garbage robot reminds us of our essential humanity. I think Eve and the plant are reminiscent of Noah and the Ark, Noah sending the dove out to see if there is any life after the flood and the dove finally returns with a branch.

I think the idea is supposed to be that cockroaches as a general population could ultimately survive through nuclear disaster, which is something most species wouldn't be able to do. Then, people took this idea and misconstrued it as an individual cockroach being able to withstand the direct hit of a nuclear explosion. But... no. It's an insect. It's not invincible.
A similar misconstruing happens with tardigrades. People think they're immortal because they have a hibernation mode that can suspend their lifespan almost indefinitely, and survive many extreme conditions including vacuum. But when they come out of that suspended animation and actually live their lives, their lives are in fact very short, and they are quite physically fragile. One might survive a dose of deadly radiation or excessive heat and cold but it still won't survive being squashed ordinarily. Extremophile is not the same as unkillable.
There are actually immortal beings, too. I think it's like, some crabs and octopuses, maybe some trees too. But they're not invincible either. They could theoretically live forever if given the resources and habitat to be able to do this in - they won't die of old age. But they can absolutely die of anything else! And usually do.

Wall-E/Wall-A stand for *Waste Allocation Load Lifter* Earth Class, and Axium Class respectively…
the full Wall-E acronym is on the side of his truck, thing…but only for a few seconds
