Californians should vote prop 19 out (America is supposed to be a capitalist country). You work hard so your kids can benefit from the fruits of your labor. No point in owning a long term home in Cali.
California voters were hoodwinked into passing Prop 19 with its satanic confiscatory inheritance provisions by coupling it with a provision allowing persons over 55 to transfer their property tax base between counties under specified circumstances, and claiming (a lie) that Prop 19 provided an enormous benefit
If Inherited property is on a stepped up basis and can keep the original property tax by living in the home, do they have to live in it forever until they sell it? Can they then take the tax base to their new home? I plan on leaving my home to my daughter and wanted to do a living trust.
