    The technology has improved so much. I don't remember how I managed to get my head tracker working back in the day. I'm hoping it will be far less complicated now..

      @@motionsic Absolutely. I flew T-28s in the Navy in the early 1970s and I remember it as a very honest aircraft with no bad habits (but I don't remember being able to keep up with any of the jets). Always enjoy your videos.

      @@tu_alum5619 Glad to hear a real T-28 pilot enjoying the video! This small T-28 has great handling qualities and can go almost vertical indefinitely with the right prop (way over powered) which makes it super fun! Did you guys use reflector sights on the real one? If so were the reticles like the one shown here - Navy Mk8 type?

    • @tu_alum5619
      @tu_alum5619 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@motionsic To quote a movie line "been a minute, huh Mav?" - and about 50 years for me. Being basic trainers, the T-28s that I flew were not configured with weapons systems, and I don't recall any gun sights on them. At the time, a few of those aircraft were configured for counterinsurgency missions in Viet Nam, and probably had sighting systems appropriate to the ordinance that they carried. Not sure about being a "real" T-28 driver - I only had about a hundred hours in them, flying out of NAS North Island while I was between jet squadron assignments and the T-28 flying was for maintaining proficiency. Most of the air time involved IFR practice (North Island was frequently socked in), formation practice and aerobatics. It was a solid performer, and always fun to fly.
      Given the power to weight ratios of R/C models, the hand-eye coordination required, and the basic nature of the models that you guys fly, I would guess that the skill sets necessary to fly your models well is a lot more involved than what I learned way back when. For the purposes of your FPV flights, I will only offer that the success of a formation flight is very much dependent on how smooth the pilot who is flying lead. I've flown wing on pilots who were so smooth that it made me look good, but others, not so much.
      Have fun.

    • @motionsic

      Used OG air unit in this video. I just turned low power mode off for O3 in my other planes. It’s sufficient for me to fly in my RC field. So I am not concerned about having full power.

      You need a air RC transmitter with at least 8 channels and trainer capable (can receive student PPM input) and following components:
      DJI Goggles Integra:
      www.dji.com/mobile/goggles-integra
      DJI O3 Air unit
      www.dji.com/mobile/o3-air-unit
      Motionsic BAG - BadAss Gimbal

      Tally-Ho 2 Head-tracker

      For a first EDF jet to try out FPV, I recommend the Freewing T-33. It’s forgiving and can be fast when you remove the wingtip tanks.

    I have the t28 and building my setup as soon as my BAG gets in 😊. Question: What battery size do you typically use to power this? I saw the 6000mah in the wiring diagram and I ordered one of those. It is quite large although fits snug in the battery area. I’m thinking my 3200mah spectrums aren’t gonna last long powering all of this. (I’m throwing in a matek and gps to go along with the air 03).

    • @motionsic
      @motionsic  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The 6S 6000 is for Viper 90 & CZ T-28 2m. I use old 4S4000 for T-28 1.2m. Your 4S 3200mAh is fine. Changing prop to APCe 12x8 prop would boost performance and flight time.

      @@ghazalimohammed you will want a transmitter with at least 10 channels if you want to do FPV long term. I use FrSky X20S and love it. FrSky X18S is good, too. I like the FrSky since it allows me to use headtracker wirelessly via Bluetooth. RadioMaster T16S is also very popular among FPV pilots.
