    How is your jumping? Do you have any tips for someone who is learning or wanting to improve?

      got an Oiz TR, 780mm 40mm rise bar and short stem, and I'm doing jumps everywhere I can 🤪 this bike is so fun. improving my tables and whips atm for style. weird thing is I tend to land with both wheels or back wheel slightly first, I got a bmx street background so... need to try landing the front wheel first.

      My jumping isn't bad - won't qualify for frequent air mile's like you blokes, but I do fairly well. :-) And yes, I'm on an XC bike (though with 10mm less travel). Do note: I don't have XC wheels and tires however (if it wasn't for geometry and short travel suspension, my bike has more parts in common to an AM bike).

      Is the frame of XC bikes as strong or will it be prone to breaking doing jumps and drops? That feels like a crucial caveat for why xc bikes are not suitable.

    • @nukedathlonman
      @nukedathlonman ปีที่แล้ว

      @@wangelite5279 Geometry would be the primary thing. But on big jumps, the short suspension does mean the frame (and rider) would be punished more (far easier to run out of suspension travel). On a specifically race bred XC bike were lightness is paramount, it might be more prone to breakage of all sorts. But on XC styled trail bike, na.

    I ride a 100mm travel XC bike which I use for everything. XC, bike parks, down hill even going to the shops. All I changed was I put a short stem and riser bars on it, oh and meatier tyres

    My 2018 Cannondale Scaple se received a more capable rear shock ,shorter stem and rise bars making it capable for most of what the trail can offer . May list a bit of it's xc capabilities but not allot . I also use maxxis minions 2.3 with exo casing to go with lower pressures . The thing about today's xc bikes is you can make them very trail capable with a few changes it's more difficult to take a Enduro bike and make it more xc compatible

    video idea: xc fully vs enduro/trail hardtail
    price may differ, of course the fully wil be more expensive.
    but the bikes must be the same: same shifters same brakes, same frame material, etc

    XC bikes can jump, but the rider should be very precise and smooth. Harsh landings will disassemble the flimsy components at a noticeable rate :)

    Lower tyre pressures learn the hard way; or more precisely, land the hard way can end in death......... only a few weeks before a Covid delayed overseas vacation, a broken bone would have resulted in death by wife.
