@@thelightseeker94 Exactly this. There is nuance everywhere as it should be. We all are slaves of our own philosophy which we developed by growing individually from each other. HxH understands that. Moreove, Togashi is able to communicate that coherently without pointing fingers.

Hisoka doesn't really do anything truly villainous. By definition, he is not a villain. That man is just a buff weirdo who likes to fight strong people. A villain is Meruem, the Phantom Troupe, etc. Hisoka has only killed minor characters with no relevance to plot, he has yet to kill someone of real importance for is own personal gain, if you don't count Gotoh. At the same time, I'm not saying he's a good guy. But if he you look at his feats, his thoughts, and personality. He's not a villain, just evil.

The Ending of Aot never destroyed Eren’s character he did what he thought was best for Eldia but was self aware that any man who kills billions of innocents can’t have any sort of redemption. In the last chapter his rant to Armin was just him getting all his feelings off his chest and we knew since the rumbling started that Eren gave up on his childhood dreams after touching Historia. Eren was never some cold hearted stoic badass who had his heart behind ever action that’s just what the fan base thought he had become over the time skip. He is an emotional dimwit and has always been one. End of series Eren and beginning of series Eren is the same person just one lost hope and gave up on the dreams that originally kept he moving forward. Isayama even stated in an interview back when season 2 was airing that Eren’s voice actor heavily influenced his writing because of how his voice sounded confident and loud but always had a shakiness to it as if he was bluffing or full of himself.

Now imagine if Oda had put one piece to hiatus every now and then...

While I can agree with this sentiment for the 5 - 10 villains that are great there are 20-25 not as good villains because of the sheer amount of villains he uses so to be fair his track record would look like at lowest 5/30 great villains and at highest 10/30 and I feel like there are authors that introduce good not necessarily great villains and introduce less villains and would have technically a better track record as track records imply numbers while I’ll agree the togashi villains are the highest of echelons some of his weaker villains are pretty low tier examples being some of the lesser cimera ant commanders such as cheetor (the only real one I can remember that’s how bad they are and one noted they are) if we are talking antagonists I also think the territorial antagonists that become allies def are very low tier. I’m not saying that he’s a bad writer in fact I think some of his villains are some of the best in manga or at the very least up there but with track records you have to take into account the lesser villains too and togashi has a butt load of them

If Oda spent a decade to write a Wano, like Togashi spent writing the Chimera Ant arc, this conversation would not be happening. Fans really don’t understand how much it benefits Togashi quality of work that he isn’t weekly. Oda is the GOAT because of longevity and consistency, along with the fact that he has the most detailed fictional world in manga.

I love Togashi’s work, but his lack of availability makes me appreciate Oda’s consistency and longevity of work even more, especially as a weekly author. They're definitely great, it all comes down to preferences.
Personally, good and deep characters are my main point of interest in any fiction I consume (anime, books, movies, wtv). So One Piece has fallen down my ranks of favorite manga/anime considerably since my teenage years, character development being it's weakest point.
HxH is truly on another level on that front in the shonen world. Only rival would probably be FMA as far as I know (I'm not considering AoT shonen).
I still enjoy One Piece immensely and its world building is truly one of the best if not the best among its competition. It's very good at setting up intense dramatic moments, as you said, and the story flows so smoothly.

I completely disagree on the worldbuilding point, showing off a map that is unexplored without knowing even a little bit about it or exploring it to some degree might as well be just that, a map.
It's more of a roadmap at this stage not really something that I could attribute to "worldbuilding" yet.
It's like when you write a book and you build a story and you simply show people a world map of said world and give them a little note to it, and I don't think Togashi did enough here to warrant such praise.
As much as I also like HxH it's kinda weird to see how much praise it gets for its worldbuilding and even power system, while I agree that it's pretty good in those aspects, it's not majorly outstanding.

@@skylerpeters4997 The issue with that is that I believe that the Nen System overall is held in a way to high regard for some reason, as I said I don't think it's bad, I believe it is very good, but people put it up to be the pinacle of writting, when it reality I believe that it practically falls on the same level as any other shonen power system.
So I can't give you a specific example, because I think a lot of them are damn near equal.
But if I had to choose which power systems I believe to be the best at current, it would be Jujutsu Kaisens for their Domains and Cursed Energy AND One Pieces Haki system.
(I am well aware of how much people seem to dislike Haki or think it's a stupid system, but I believe that it is one of the most basic and believable systems that also has a lot of intrigue to it, whereas HxH's nen could easily be replaced as "Magic" and it would be the same pretty much)
Maybe I like Haki so much because I see a potential of Conquerer Haki to be used in such a creative way of which it currently is not, so I might be biased on that one.
(What I mean by that is that I see Conquerer Haki be possibly set up as having it's own individual use for each user, meaning there obviously is the most basic steps of it where users can knock them out using it or intimidate them, but also develop it into a system similar to Nen, obviously not as in-depth but still unique to its user)
But again, in terms of near pinnacle in current writting of a power system I would give JJK the upper hand.

@@skylerpeters4997 The problem is, something that is more complicated and more detailed isn't necessarily better then something that is more simple. As an example, both Chimera Ant arc and Phantom Troop arc are considered the best arcs of all time. However what about Heavens Arena and Greed Island. Both are teaching arcs that lead us up to the other arcs. However both those arcs are considered boring and not interesting by Hunter X Hunter fans. " Wait until we get to the good parts" they say. Even the training with Knuckle and Shoot is considered a low point of the Chimera ant arc. Ok then lets remove all those parts that people don't like, what do we get, just characters clashing with their powers and abilities. So from that info, it isn't the system that makes them like the series its more the results of that system. Therefore the system of Nen in Hunter x Hunter doesn't really need to be their for them to like it. People praise it for being more complicated, but actually don't like the complicated inner workings of the system. So it isn't really better then any other system's that just have those powers and abilities without detail explanation.

It's cool to see Luffy fight with the top dogs of the verse but it feels like Oda himself is dragging the crew out of every situation instead of giving them the tools to save themselves. That being said one solid training arc can still change things and I hope we get it.
