I just had to chime in since this is my all-time favorite group. I want to offer a different opinion about Commissioned's sound. Marvin's addition to the group gave them a more "urban" sound. Keith's voice was a better contrast to Fred's which gave them more color when they exchanged lead parts. When Marvin first joined the group, he sounded like Fred sometimes. What a blessing they were to young people like myself back in the day!
Agreed. I don't believe I really began to appreciate Marvin's skill until the Irreplaceable album in large part because of him replacing Keith. I thought Mitchell and Fred were my favorites until Keith I heard the difference after his departure.
The greatest group in music history indeed! There should be a full documentary of this amazing group! They changed r&b and influenced many secular artists down through the years. COMMISSIONED!!!
I will never go back to Christianity, but these guys were everything musically for 23 years of my life. Best group of ANY musical genre!!! (Even better than EWF)
Sadly, I somehow missed Commissioned when they first formed, so I have been listening to and learning their songs. EWF came to mind. ☺️ Commissioned was awesome in their musicality and worship. Thankfully I did not miss Fred Hammond as a solo artist and still love his music.
Next Unsung documentary seriously. These guys not only helped change the face of Gospel music but RnB music in the late 80s. While cats were rocking jherri curls, Commissioned was rockin fades (clean cut). And they're sound?? Forget about it. Secular RnB groups were trying to sound like these guys and practiced using their songs.
Still dont understand why Keith left the group, Marvin took his spot! Keith really didn't seemed to go far on his own! Sorry, it didn't work out for you like it did for Fred and Marvin! Keith is where he should had been in the first place and that is with Commissioned that's where they all need to be, keeping it real!
@@deborahyuille7073 He didn't want to leave initially, but the contract he signed with the label that released his solo record didn't allow him to record or be on music that was on any other label.
chicago brl yea that never happen..... but they did release 2 new live acoustic or piano up to date performances for 2016 of "No More Loneliness" man had me in my house crying..... it's just ine if them songs that remind you through your christian walk to remember God will never leave you.... "No More Loneliness" PC
Fred is the Stevie Wonder of gospel music. This is indisputable!
Commissioned isn’t just my favorite gospel group, it’s my favorite musical group period

I agree Marvin's sound did closely resemble Fred but years later we can hear the distinction
@@michele6691 yes definitely now we can tell!
Agreed!

Yes, and with Montrel Darrett joining them. He was the man when Fred left. Then one album later, he was gone. Twas so sad.
Amen, i love this... its real NO MORE LONELINESS, JESUS CAME WITH HIS BLESSINGS,JOY, COMFORT, GRACE & MERCY... NO MORE PAIN, NO MORE CRY!!
Marvin's addition to the group revolutionized the sound! This is the best combination of Commissioned! With Maxx Frank as MC!

Was this in Akron, Ohio? This looks like a concert that I went to as a child.
Was this at the Salvation Army on 14th St. In Manhattan?
They ended the song just as the momentum was building
What year was this? Keith Staten was gone already?
Man havent seen that one live before. Do you have the rest of the vid?
