I love them. Fred is so handsome. Dang! Commissioned is so talented. I really wish they would sing together again. I need a reunion concert. #fredhammond
This was late 80's. I remember my boys didn't know about gospel. So, when INTRO, U.N.V. and Al those boys came out, just listen to Commissioned. You will see EXACTLY where they got their flow from.. Start d college in 1990. Homeboys didn't know about this. It was still Al B Sure, Christopher Williams, etc. Then I hipped them to this and they didn't know what to do
The days of straight up gospel. No ambiguity! We have to preach God's Word NOT another version of New Age philosophy! That's what the world needs...the love of Jesus...Amen
One of the best gifts my dad ever gave his kids was this gospel music. I bought him their first 3 albums for this yrs father's day. And that hater made 2 of those cds got stuck in the car players. Ill buy another set and rip them, you aint do nothing but make me think about a way to share all the music with more of my family.
I was in the 8th grade! #1989 Wearing U men clothing from Oak tree in Iverson mall lol Skidz hammer pants, Gumby hair cut, patent leather shoes eating Bon ton bbq chips and butter crunch cookies 😂😂😂
The INDUSTRY and the POLITICAL MACHINE of the INDUSTRY overshadowed Commissioned. Qwest records says it all.. Quincy Delight Jones was/is a heavy hitter in the INDUSTRY. NO ONE Overshadowed . They stood 10 toes down on the Gospel and Ministry. The ONLY shadow that they had was the Psalm 91 shadow.. " He that dwelleth in the Secret Place of the Most High shall abide under the SHADOW of the Almighty. Not man's shadow. HIS Shadow. Shalom
I would respectfully disagree that they were ahead of their time. Commissioned was influenced by the Winans who were influenced by Andrae Crouch. The first 3 records of the Winans and I believe 4 of Commissioned were done on Light Records. Unlike the Winans when they switched to Quest Records, Commissioned did not remove the name Jesus from many of their songs. That's my commentary. Thanks
The bass line though. I agree with the influences you mentioned and I'm fans of the others. But when you listen closely, the slap bass and rhythms -- check out the other song from this same concert, He Keeps On Blessing Me. The pocket in that song differentiates them from Sir Crouch and the Winans.
What's your understanding of the statement "Ahead of their time" ? I'm a little confused by your comment. Everyone is influenced by someone including Andrea Crouch, so are you suggesting that Andrea Crouch was ahead of his time and commissioned wasn't?
Tochi Lazarus Aye man I used to wonder what those first lyrics were too........Haha😁 He's saying "........The world is in travail, full of misery....... Bruh I used to think he said "The world is in true fail.......actually if that was the lyrics it would stand true today as it did then. Commissioned is my favorite male vocal group of all time. They sang the true/ pure/ uncut Gospel of Christ Jesus of Nazareth. Real songs.....real men. 👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿

Never, ever tired of hearing these guys!! Reminds me of all of the clean-cut guys that I know that are into clean living!! Christian Men! 💘
If they were singing R&B they would have been one of the biggest R&B groups of their time.
They influenced just about every R&B group of that time and later.
They were before their time and their music is TIMELESS! anyone riding in my car will hear me blasting their music since the 80s!

Boys 2 men stole their style for secular
@@Keepdapocket lol! Funny.
Such a great Christian group all upstanding brothers on fire for God. And this Fred was untouchable vocally. Those first 4 albums were game changers.
Great Group. The incredible part was that Brooks sounded like a whole band by himself.....
Curt .Magee that’s what you call a pro
Curt .Magee : technically here yes because it's just Brooks and Williams except when Fred played bass.
Facts!
That’s what talented artist do!!

Did Mike ever sing?
Anybody know how to get the Audio and video in sync
Anyone see the date of this???!!?!?! 89' beyond their time I'd say
TV ONE needs to feature them on UNSUNG!
I agree. They were appreciated during their time. However, if they were on the scene today. It would be off the chain!
