The scariest thing I saw in Taipei (1994) was a Temple near my Hotel with really scary figures in it, very spooky. Later heard it was a Temple for bad ancestors that are in Hell. The other was live Cobras on display on cages next pass pedestrians walking by. I came eye to eye with one in Snake Ally. Cobras are sacrificed as a virgra.
The Japanese cruelty in shown in the movie: The Man behind the Sun. I could only handle 10 mins I didn't want to scare my mind.

I lived in Taipei as a kid and don't believe in ghosts...and this is the most absorbing video I've seen in a very long time. So glad I found it. Thank you for this gem !

I also heard that if you experience anything paranormal and decide to leave, the front desk would usually be very understanding and let your leave no questions asked and give you a full refund, because even the staff know that this place is haunted. Moreover, there is a talisman in the lobby to warn off evil spirits, which would be the first warning sign to travellers.

Thanks for sharing that! Do you have a photo of the talisman? I'd love to see it. Thank you for watching.

@@mydarkpath Just google Taipei Hyatt talisman. You will see photos of the talisman in the lobby. Hundreds of them.

We stayed in this hotel for two nights. I didn't see any shadowy figures, but I did experience a few odd incidents. For example, in the middle of the night, I heard a big bang, which sounded like a book had just dropped to the floor. I became wide awake and couldn't sleep any more. The next day, we wife asked me "why did you drop that book on the floor." We both looked at this place where the book had dropped. There were no books.

Wow! Thanks for sharing that! There are so many odd experiences - I'm still surprised that I had a paranormal experience in the hotel, especially since I wasn't expecting it.

After all that, would you stay there again? Even if ghosts are real, are they always out to hurt you? Or perhaps they desire to teach you something, make you more aware of history, seek what happened, seek justice, etc? I don't believe in ghosts, but even if I did, I wouldn't believe that it's a negative experience. In fact, your experience caused you to do this deep dive research and share a lot of history I did not even know before (for context, I am Taiwanese-American), so I am grateful for that. I think we are primed to believe ghosts are creepy and scary. But if we have some empathy, perhaps for what the ghosts have been through, we could think of them differently. Your video really creeped me out, but I would still want to give the ghosts a chance. If that makes any sense.
That said, I have also stayed at Grand Hyatt Taipei on multiple occasions, as well as my parents and many of my frequent traveler friends. We haven't noticed anything out of the normal, and I did know about its haunted reputation before.

I would! But since I would be looking for another paranormal experience, I expect that I wouldn’t experience anything.

I stayed there a few years ago and my experiences weren’t as paranormal as yours but a few oddities did occur. While sleeping, the desk lamp would turn on and off intermittently in the middle of the night. The locking mechanism also acted weird. I would swipe my card and can hear the locking mechanism click open but upon turning the knob the lock would engage again. Other than these incidents, my stay was otherwise lovely. From the outside, the hotel looks dated but interiorly it was quite modern and comfortable. The gym was supplied with plenty of equipments. The pool was large and the spa exquisite.

Your brother, and your subsequent internet searches, primed you. The power of suggestion is, well, powerful. Not saying that’s what happened to you but be careful.

I agree. Sometimes our desire to believe and experience these paranormal events puts us at risk. Always best to seek the good! Thanks for watching.

More like a history brief on Taiwan than a ghost story. Waste of time.
