    Fun Fact: Another reason why dudes in the 50’s would buckle their belts to the left side is if they were in a band, particularly a rockabilly band, the buckle would be out of the way from scratching the back of their instruments. I adopt this every time I do Million Dollar Quartet and Buddy: the Buddy Holly Story.

      That's true. Or so they wouldn't scratch their cars when leaning over the side of the hood.

      @@modernvintagelifestyles So the first question that came up is do you have any videos where you feature flat-front chinos instead of pleated pants? It's less dressy but also more forgiving for fat guys and old guys.

      @@matthewmagda4971 I don't really know much about the chinos.

    What’s the first song’s title and band? Just discovered your channel and it’s literally the kind of channel I’ve been searching for and wanting for years now! So many vintage women’s fashion videos but NONE for men’s vintage fashion! Please upload some new videos soon brother!!! 👍🏻

      All tunes are by Earl Bostic. 1st one is Unchained Melody. 2nd one is Don't Blame Me.

    Is buckling on the side only appropriate for skinny belts? Because I have a vintage looking one but it's not skinny, and I'm wondering if I should buckle it that way.

    • @modernvintagelifestyles
      @modernvintagelifestyles  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey there, It's appropriate with any belt size and any buckle. If you look at old East Side Kids movies, you'll see the teens there would wear even a rope as a belt and even the knot was to the side.

      Don't Blame Me - Earl Bostic.
      I think you can only find that song on record, which is where I got it from to use in the video. Earl Bostic is the best!

      Hey there. Most of the vintage clothes are now in vintage shops, but you can still find vintage at flea markets. That's here in Southern California though. Online, eBay and etsy have lots of vintage, but usually for very high prices.

      Modern Vintage Lifestyles rats I was hoping for a decent cheap pair. Thanks

    • @modernvintagelifestyles
      @modernvintagelifestyles  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@tipofan4life439 well, if you look for a solid print gab shirt, you're looking anywhere from $40-100 in excellent condition. If you don't mind a hole or a stitch here and there (like me), then you can find it cheaper. Some slacks, plain color (blue, brown, Grey) should run about $30-50.

      Modern Vintage Lifestyles ah ok thanks can dress pants from walmart still look hep? And I got bowling shirts from daddyos that I wear too

    • @modernvintagelifestyles
      @modernvintagelifestyles  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@tipofan4life439 if you can't find vintage slacks with the dropped belt loops, then a pair of pleated slacks, cuffed with a classic fit should do. However, even that may be difficult to find these days with all the modern skinny, slim fit variants. Try the thrift stores too!
