Since I knew Sanskrit (and German) from college, I had a fairly decent understanding of case endings, declensions/conjugations, and tenses - Greek of course has moods and aspects, but so does (Old Vedic) Sanskrit with subjunctive, optative, aorist, punctilinear , imperfective etc. - the problems arise with complicated structures wherein different Datives can mean different things, like Ethical Dative for example in John 2:6 "Τί ἐμοὶ καὶ σοί" - also a preposition plus Dative can mean something very different depending on context, apparently - eg Galatians 1:16 "ἀποκαλύψαι τὸν Υἱὸν αὐτοῦ ἐν ἐμοὶ" - is it REVEALED his son "IN" me like NIV etc, which is technically the correct translation, or MANIFESTED his son "TO me", due perhaps to Aramaic literalness for Paul's Greek and common phrasing at the time ("TO ME" is how NRSV translates it, and which makes more sense to me at least) -- Mounce and Strong help!"😆...
