I'm an animator and this is fantastic reference. Thank you so much for taking the time to do this
Love to see this comment
Haha, I’m also watching this video for raven flight reference right now now
@@Gloria.1108 same! the slow motion flight is so beautiful
Yeah, I'm a 3d artist and found this useful for how to make the form of the wings.
I love seeing their feathers ripple in the wind as they fly. Absolutely beautiful.
I was thinking the same thing. The music was a great touch too, it really accentuated the beauty and grace of these birds and what they do.
Ravens are my favourite birds so this was AWESOME
SAME!
I also have a thing for Crows. They are crazy birds, noisy and are fearless when in a group against a hawk.
Same
4:40 + Discussing raven's wingtips: the separation of big feathers is found in many large gliders. It's an adaptation to spoil tip vortices. Commercial aircraft now have vertical winglets for the same reason.
I've been in the avian field now for nearly 30yrs. I've had the privilege of working "hands on" with everything from Warblers to Birds of Prey and Budgies to Macaws. And i must say my favorite species are the "Corvid" family of birds. Whether it's Jays to Jackdaws, Rooks to Magpies, or Crows to Ravens. The intelligence of these birds never ceases to amaze me. They can learn to speak just as good as any parrot i've come across particularly Ravens. And when it comes to aerial acrobatics it's REALLY tough to find another "perching bird" that has the same fluid grace in flight that Ravens possess. So this was a great video to watch granted nothing will outclass a Peregrine Falcon. But Ravens sure as hell come close folks. If there in your area it would do you good to watch these guys soaring around performing there aerial stunts. It's quite a site to see indeed...:)
tomtalker2000 I'm no expert, but they seem to be one of the few "perching birds" who can give a run for the raptors' money in terms of size and physical prowess
tomtalker2000 Do you pop up everywhere? I been reading the beginning of your comment on many bird videos.
I try to be as helpful as i can to those that are interested in the subject matter. Otherwise they would have never clicked on the video in the first place...:)
The will give a raptor a run for there money. As i've said before in other videos of these birds having aerial "dog fights" with birds of prey. Most raptors will give them a wide berth knowing full well that they cannot out class them in flight. Ravens are around 27in with a 4-4.5ft wingspan weighing in at around 2pds or so. Where as there smaller Corvid cousins crows say the most common and largest species the American Crow. Are around 18-20in 3ft wingspan weighing in at around 1lbs. So big big difference between the two. Plus ravens beaks are thicker and have a hook at the tip especially made for ripping and tearing into flesh like a raptor has. The may still lack the formidable talons a bird of prey has. But the make up for it ten fold with there beaks. And can VERY easily kill mice, rats, other birds like puffins smaller shorebirds etc...Believe it or not i've actually witnessed an American Crow killing a gray squirrel. Certainly NOT your everyday occurrence. And it took A LOT of effort and about a hour for the crow to fully immobilize plus kill the squirrel. But they can do it and this one did...!!! It was quite a sight to see. Now if it had been a raven it would have been FAR easier. Given there larger size and hooked beaks.
These slo-mo films of animals are some of the best things I've ever watched. Quite emotional! Keep up the superb work!
We're glad you enjoyed the video! We release a new Slo Mo every Thursday so don't forget to subscribe so you don't miss out.
I'm oh so envious of whoever has that Raven for their pet.
Their grace and beauty hurts my heart.. what's wrong with me!? Anyways, beautiful vid. I adore animals in general and seeing the speed and agility of these gorgeous birds in slo-mo is a joy. Thanks guys!
Man... This must have been the millionth time I've watched this video... I can't really get tired of watching how those feathers move as they move their wings...
Well done to the BBC Earth team and Lloyd. Not easy shots to get off a set of legs and handheld on a grass runway. Beautiful shots of the birds doing what they do naturally. Lots of fun driving that day and well worth the effort. Respect guys & gals...
The raven was so very beautiful and fluid in the second clip "acrobatic demonstration". I would love to see more alongside the lovely music.
The part where the raven grabs the food in mid air is incredible!
that was a falcon the raven is the black one.
jake clark 5:14
aimbot mostly !
That raven's a total Bro, did you see how he caught that peace of food in mid air? Imagine him in college parties.

Rigo R.M Remember this Old comment?!?
The can talk like parrots to
Yeah
Ravens are the smartest birds in the animal kingdom. The bird (raven) is the word.
***** they can mimic speech just like parrots
+HungryHyena They are as smart as, possibly smarter than, chimpanzees. It would not surprise me to find they were sapient.
they are not only smartest birds, but probably top 3 smartest animals.
I read somewhere that they experience life just like humans do. And I'm not that surprised.
Nuna
Actually the only bird that arguably surpasses the crow in intelligence is the Kea
0:42 why does the music felt like the falcon is about to sacrifice himself for humanity
Was I the I only one before watching thinking they were going to battle to the death
Are you sick? It's a video of two great flyers in detail.
marsvltor2 Calm down, they obviously mean the video title can be misinterpreted as it does not indicate that the versus is in relation to their features
same
Me too
not a chance ravens are hunted by the peregrine.....I watched as a kid on a farm a falcon hitting crows and pidgeons plucking them out of the sky at speed.
slow motion is already cool on it's own, but you guys consistently pump out the MOST impressive and unique bird shots on the internet. instant favorite, like, and share.
LOL the raven pooped on 3:58
This was an example of grace, simply amazing.
Ravens are so nice and cool birds

Absolutely awesome footage.
Corvids win every time for me. intelligent, acrobatic and charismatic to boot

Even raptors don't have such good mid - air catching skills like crows and ravens.
Dragons. Absolute dragons.
This has got to be one of the best channels ever.
This is awesome! Nature is amazing and very inspiring.
Ravens are amazing!
You cease to amaze me.
It must be sooo awesome to fly

Baltimore Ravens vs Atlanta falcons
One is currently the only team undefeated in multiple Super Bowls. The other choked on the same number of Super Bowls
ZhangK71 I am Ravens fan. Go Ravens!
You fellas have the best job in the world.
Wow, Super Epic!! Awesome video!
One word that describes how these birds fly and hunt is "Precision".
Ahwwww Hell Yea great video thanks so much for sharing really enjoyed the show.
whoa, such amazing footage, so cool
This is so cool oh my goodness the quality is AMERZING.
Fantastic video, thanks :)
Team Raven cuz it can use its sharp eyes for hunting smaller prey and its also fast and intelligent
wow!!! stunning work. wow
Great upload!
Great video - beautiful birds
Great footage, thanks.
Bloody brilliant that!
i think im in love with this channel
Really beautiful footage :^)
this one was great!!!
my god what a magnificent bird that peregrine falcon is
u ppls r jst awesome
awesome work guys
Beautiful videos of both birds. Absolutely incredible. All birds are fun to watch, and each seems to have their own style of flying. Once a American Falcon ended up in my backyard, a female youngster who just needed a few more days to strengthen it's wing muscles. I fed it some beef, chicken and bison. Beautiful bird, now off flying around chasing down little birds and rodents.
Wow, thanks guys!
Beautiful
Birds are awesome creatures
My two favorite wild birds!
So beautiful.
That's mesmerizing. Makes me wish I was a bird. :)
Amazing!
Great video !
Great shots. I love this kind of video's. My greenwing macaw was in a tv commercial recently with slow motion shots and she looked spectaculair in flight.
Great job.
cool video. thanks
Ravens are fantastic birds, so smart and misterious. Falcon is my patronus.
Watched a raven invade a nest of three Osprey chicks and proceed to slowly tear them to pieces…………………………………….So absolutely cannot stand them. I mean three helpless chicks they cannot do anything to protect themselves. Just ripped to shreds……………..slowly and meticulously.
The Slo Mo guys have some awesome stuff like this as well xD just sillier most of the time haha,liked-subbed off to watch more slo mo =)
I never knew Ravens where that awesome.
Ravens are among the smartest of all birds. They got real character too, very mischievous and great problem solvers.
Firebrand There's a reason why people don't generally like them but they don't despise them either, because we can't help respecting them in a way.
Yeah they've been in a slump ever since Ray Lewis retired but Lamar Jackson is gonna make them awesome again
why doesn't this have more views its awesome :D
Amazing 🔝🔝🔝👌👏😊💫👍
Great ❤️❤️❤️
0:53 is an awesome shot-
Good name for a raven, even just a two-eyed raven.
As a guy from the scandinavian north, I have to go for the Raven since they where Odin's eyes in midgard :) BUT, both are fantastic animals.
Absolutely awesome! Both the peregrine falcon n raven are incredible masters of flight in very different ways. Remember both Bran n Moses featuring on other nature documentaries on TV & they are both beautiful birds!
10 000th subscriber!
Ariel duo of the highest class

Wow 😍❤️
Parabéns, vídeos excelentes..
Awesome work guys! Now let's see if you can do Kevin, the Pigeon! 😂
Does anyone have any idea what the Music playing during the first Raven Slow Motion footage?
Im wondering also
Cool
A raven named Bran, eh? I think I see what you're going for there.
two scoops of raven?
curtsher11 Clever, but not what I had in mind
A popular Westerosi breakfast cereal (I done used BOTH your jokes!).
The sixth sick shiek's sixth sheep's sick?
Bran actually means Raven in Gaelic Irisg
3:59 Crow: Peregrine falcon are shit! **takes a shit** 😂😂😂
there was no Crow in this only a Raven
VSGU TheOPCrown
Same shit.
Natty S No it's not
Crows and Ravens are as different as Cheetahs and Leopards
Firebrand No quite i can name more differances with leopards and cheetahs :)
I love that the raven is named Bran. I'm just getting the reference now.
Before I experienced the Barn Owls, the ravens were my favorite birds
Am I the only person who thinks it's cool that the raven's named Bran? Bran, as in the Game of Thrones character who has visions of a raven when he sleeps?
Actually, bran is the word for crow or raven in Celtic languages.
these birds r so awesome
how about when the falcon drops those talons
thanks guys
No dislike! impressive
I'd love to see the falcon's stoop in slo-mo. (When they dive from way up high to kill their prey.)
Raven was even buffeting bro hauling it
