A few things to point out about Solo. He seems to know more than any ordinary Silo resident. It's weird that he knows the exact number of Silos around, knows which Silos are close by, knows that those creatures are called "birds". I think there's more to him than just being isolated since there was 2 fresh bodies as compared to the rest which were way decomposed. I think Solo came in from another higher department that oversee the runnings of the Silos and he was probably sent to this one after the rebellion to try and correct or fix something but got caught up in some espionage against him forcing him to lock himself up.
Bernard and Meadow also knew about the other solos though, so if he really was a shadow, it seems fitting that he would know too. we don’t know exactly what info is in that room though, so it’s possible he’s still lying🤔

I have NOT read any of the books, so I'm just going off what we learn in each episode, and my big takeaway from episode 3 is: Solo can NOT be trusted. We think we learn more about him, but it's all based on what HE says. But what if he's lying? Solo is at best "weird"--but could also be a nutcase. I think it ties into the "fresh" bodies outside Solo's IT Vault, who he probably killed. And, I think it ties into the "mystery person" who may also be in Silo 17, and was observing Juliette--and cut the rope in episode 1. And, casting-wise, remember Steve Zahn's character from the movie "A Perfect Getaway." My theory is that Solo was never the Shadow of Russell, the IT Leader of Silo 17, and equivalent of Bernard/Silo 18. It is very possible that Solo was one of the Silo Dwellers, and somehow got into the vault (let in by Russell?) after the people all went outside and died. And, the fresh bodies--as you guys speculated--are people from another silo, or from a Silo HQ. Their mission was to assess the damage to Silo 17 and rescue Russell. Key Point: since Bernard mentioned to Meadows that he knew Silo 17 had a revolt years ago, we can assume that there is "some way" to communicate between silos that only the IT Leaders (Bernard, Russell, etc.) have the ability to use from their Vault. It could be radio, or it may just be visual. Whatever. If Solo were in fact Russell's Shadow, why doesn't he know about the communication system? Or, if he does, why hasn't he used it. Solo apparently has, inside the vault, food/water; so he should also have the communication equipment. I believe this will become very important info in future episodes. Does this make sense, and get included in the Theories Video? No problem about the delay, I was traveling on Turkey Day; so I couldn't see this video until today (Sunday).
The video that Meadows was watching was someone's home movies that other people made she was watching for memories or seeing what life was like before the silos
Patrick got murked by the enforcer as soon as he threw the Molotov. The whole thing was a set up by Sims. Cooper was collateral damage, though it may have been intentional.
I'm glad this came on TV so I can watch it because I watched Ascension and they ended the first season with no explanations and this is sort of the same setup
Yep, I've commented about the similarities between Ascension and Silo. In fact, during the first season of Silo, I looked-up the credits (and read articles) to see if Ascension was an earlier adaptation of the Silo books (which I have not read). There doesn't appear to be any cross-over of producers or writers between the two series. Also, Ascension was much, much, much sexier than Silo.
I think she just had old stored videos of when the world was okay and she being one of only a few ppl knowing the truth and having access to such relics just watches to enjoy like any of us would. But who knows i cud be completely off.
I agree with you. It's like the book that Billings found: the relics are most likely not personal family histories, but found found memories, like from a Time Capsule.
I enjoy the acting but it feels very slow, to slow. For a second I thought Solo poisoned her with that meal but then he says "I wanted to see if you are real" 😅 he got me there.

My favorite was when Steve Zahn was in a movie trying to give himself Auto, you know what, and he's totally naked, but you don't see anything. It's just the most hilarious scene I can't remember if the movie was called Saving Silverman Maybe😂❤

I'm trying very hard not to see any book spoilers. So far, all I've seen is that Judicial plays more of a role in the show. Which is a good call. It will be difficult not to go read the books now. I didn't even know they existed. Was my binge show over Thanksgiving, now just waiting for new episodes! So good!

He wants to put his own spin on the overall themes of the books, but the characters may not follow the books trajectory. And Hugh Howey, who wrote the books, and was on the "Silo" panel at SD ComicCon this year, agreed that knowing the books will not help in watching the tv series.
@ How can you say knowing the books won’t help if you have not read them? The show doesn’t follow the books to a T but it does follow them. I can see some changes but in general it’s mostly the same. Knowing the source material allows you to guess some of the changes. Someone in these very comments has guessed something I imagine will happen. Not because it happened in the books, but because it’s similar to something that happens in to the books and makes sense with the stories they are focusing on.
The judge was just watching old home movies and she's fascinated by how things used to be. Hence her hoarding of "illegal" artifacts. It could be a home movie of her ancestors, but I really doubt it's in the recent past. The desiccated state of the bodies near the silo entrance show that it's been at least 50-100 years that rebellion, but probably longer. So if the silo's are somehow newer than that, the show will have a lot of explaining to do.
I really think the video that she's watching is just an old video that was on a hard drive or relic. I don't think it was her family. I think the video is a relic just like the other relics that she has in her room
I think the suit is a good suit because Bernard is in in love with Meadows. I keep getting those feelings vibes from him toward her. She knows and that's how she manipulates him so well. I agree that'll she and Juliet will meet up on the outside or as they're letting Meadows out, Juliet will stroll up to get back in. Even when she goes back inside, we have not seen the last of Solo, I'm sure. There is probably a way for the Silos to communicate somehow and she'll find it or force Bernard to tell her.

So long ago was Measdows Benard's shadow??? I dont think we know this yet - but i believe that is something to watch for, if hes telling the truth about the Silo 17 Rebellion(death march out). Bc thats how long Solo has been solo - how much supplies can he have in there that he hasnt opened the door?!?!?! Where is the food (for stew) coming from???? Where does he have access to without opening the door?? I might be overthinking this.....

It couldn’t have been 50-100 years ago if solo has been in there the entire time and he was a teenager at the time of the rebellion.
