My parents have been in the climbing community since their teens and I basically joined it by being born and I can tell you that 99% of people in the community are extremely nice and chill and will gladly help you with anything
Maybe because it is a huge ego check if you are not strong enough, and it's not a team sport, you are alone in your climbing. I know people who play football for example, and they have so big egos and think they are everything. And that is fine, but when your skill does not match your ego, and you do the same thing over and over but it does not work. Then that ego is very misplaced and irritating to play with. At that point they are running the football for everybody else on their team and making some few good goals but also making lots and lots of mistakes. They are ok peolpe, but at the same time I was in a conversation. They are very interested in money, and a bit negative towards a lot of things and have very strong opinions. Mabye it's just that group I have been playing with. I have played fotball with freinds before, and that is always fun.
I don't know in what community you are in, but I live in Czechia where climbing is a pretty old sport with many old humble climbers who show the next generations how to act. So everyone is extremely humble, helping others and trying to make the sport as enjoyable as possible for everyone. @@pierrevolatier9949

In 2009 Adam Ondra came to South Africa and climbed an open project in Montagu called “Mazawattee”. It became the hardest route in South Africa (it still is). Matt Bush was one of a handful of South African climbers who were throwing themselves at the project hoping to claim the first ascent. It is possible that the “beef” Matt has against Adam stems all the way back to that time. *I have met Matt and have had some interesting conversations him.

I haven't climbed in over a decade. I recently came back to the sport and dipped into recent IFSC comp videos on TH-cam. I was absolutely overjoyed to see that Ondra was still climbing at the top level after all this time, as he was a regular feature of comp finals last time I bothered looking, all those years ago. Totally weird to attack such a consistent, humble and clearly well-respected athlete for clout!
Unfortunately Matt is one of those guys who is just really sour about everything. He used to get free entry at a local gym, but after breaking multiple bits of wall by doing dumb stuff they told him he needs to pay like a regular member. So naturally, he went onto social media rants about what a death-trap of a gym the place is and he'll single-handedly shut them down because everyone follows him and listens to him. Subsequently the gym became even more busy than normal.

I've been through some rough times in my life. Things were really bad. One thing would go wrong after another, and my mind went to very dark places. When you're there you just don't see it some times. You're more hostile, or your pride won't let the smallest thing go and you blow it up into something far larger than it needed to be. I made a lot of mistakes. Did a lot of things that I've regretted. When I was watching this, I couldn't help but think of those times. I could be wrong but I'm guessing that guy is going through some dark stuff. He'll regret it later regardless.

I knew Adam had an incredibly good reputation in the climbing community, then I saw an interview with him and realised that reputation is well deserved. Seems like such a sweet, genuine person who is perfectly comfortable with being himself in a way that makes the people around him relax.
I guess it can go both ways, I'm sure some serious people want to be able to have more fun too. I'm a casual boulderer, I like big moves etc. and I pick the boulders I do accordingly. I don't get frustrated by not being able to do a crimp boulder 1 or 2 levels below my usual level and I don't need to feel the need to train specifically for it. After all I started this way too old to ever reach a competitive level haha. I'm not jealous of the super strong youngsters in the gym I go to, as it would be unfair for me to think I should be at their level considering how little training and effort I've put in compared to them.

I'm both a karate-ka and a climber. Similar thing happens in the martial arts world, slightly more commonly, because martial artists are way less chill than climbers, and there's a lot more ego thrown around. When someone feel that they are not acknowledged enough by the established institutions, they go and split up and establish their own institution. Some one them are actually legit, just that the politics lead them to their disillusionment with the establishment. Some of them are less skilled but they still like the ego boost, so they make their own school without having the skills. That's how you get what's called McDojos....and then on a rarer instances, you get the really crazy ones, like George Dillman

It's so crazy to call someone "king of pop climbing" when that man has been climbing from age 5 or 6, has been dedicated to climbing the most difficult routes of the world, has been the best bar none lead climber in the world for a decade and the person calling him a 'mad pop climber' is some dude, who climbs only for social media views and for nothing else.
Sometimes those near misses (or worse) just happen. I was out camping at the Lancelin sand dunes one day (North of perth in West Australia) and suddenly this jeep just goes flying over our tent . Scared the shit out of us. But the car stopped and the guy driving was in tears, he was so freaked out that he didnt see us and nearly killed us. Thankfully, the dude had gotten mad air and completely cleared us. it happens.
I had no idea who Matt was before this video. After this video, the only thing I know about him is that I don't want to know any more. It seems like he's a climbing-related entertainer and not a climber.

The last guy Kilian Bron is great at downhill bike. He releases a Megavalanche POV (huge downhill race from Alpe d'Huez) each year. He just released a video from Megavalanche 2023, always cool to watch, definitely worth recommending. :)
When the first 4 climbers you know are Adam, Magnus, Alex and Pete and you assume everyone in climbing is just super chill, good natured and likeable.

I knew Adam had an incredibly good reputation in the climbing community, then I saw an interview with him and realised that reputation is well deserved. Seems like such a sweet, genuine person who is perfectly comfortable with being himself in a way that makes the people around him relax.
People who can't take anything seriously are often actually jealous of people with the necessary drive to do so.
I guess it can go both ways, I'm sure some serious people want to be able to have more fun too. I'm a casual boulderer, I like big moves etc. and I pick the boulders I do accordingly. I don't get frustrated by not being able to do a crimp boulder 1 or 2 levels below my usual level and I don't need to feel the need to train specifically for it. After all I started this way too old to ever reach a competitive level haha. I'm not jealous of the super strong youngsters in the gym I go to, as it would be unfair for me to think I should be at their level considering how little training and effort I've put in compared to them.
If you do your greenscreen keying in Resolve using the 3d keyer they have a little "despill" checkbox that should eliminate the green fringing

I'm both a karate-ka and a climber. Similar thing happens in the martial arts world, slightly more commonly, because martial artists are way less chill than climbers, and there's a lot more ego thrown around. When someone feel that they are not acknowledged enough by the established institutions, they go and split up and establish their own institution. Some one them are actually legit, just that the politics lead them to their disillusionment with the establishment.
Some of them are less skilled but they still like the ego boost, so they make their own school without having the skills. That's how you get what's called McDojos....and then on a rarer instances, you get the really crazy ones, like George Dillman

I could be wrong but I am pretty sure Matt is just baiting and creating controversy. Baiting people into hate watching/hate following, baiting people into making videos like this one. It all generates traffic for him. Especially starting drama with climbing personalities puts him on the radar. I understand its fun to make fun of people like that but the best thing is to ignore him and not fall for his pretend ignorance.

If you look into Adam's background, he is incredibly competitive but only against himself. When he was a child he would cry at the winners podium from the number one spot because he couldn't climb the last route 😅. He didn't care about the competition, he cared that there was a climb that he couldn't finish!

It's so crazy to call someone "king of pop climbing" when that man has been climbing from age 5 or 6, has been dedicated to climbing the most difficult routes of the world, has been the best bar none lead climber in the world for a decade and the person calling him a 'mad pop climber' is some dude, who climbs only for social media views and for nothing else.

Sometimes those near misses (or worse) just happen. I was out camping at the Lancelin sand dunes one day (North of perth in West Australia) and suddenly this jeep just goes flying over our tent . Scared the shit out of us. But the car stopped and the guy driving was in tears, he was so freaked out that he didnt see us and nearly killed us. Thankfully, the dude had gotten mad air and completely cleared us. it happens.
I had no idea who Matt was before this video. After this video, the only thing I know about him is that I don't want to know any more. It seems like he's a climbing-related entertainer and not a climber.
