    Hey good video friend. May I give a friendly suggestion for higher yield and larger fruiting bodies it's best to use the masters mix for wood loving mushrooms. Thats hardwood fuel pellets, wheat bran and gypsum. Make sure the pellets are no additives or chemicals personally oak or cherry wood have worked well.

      Masters mix is 50/50 hardwood / soybean hulls, what on earth are you talking about?

    • @eviljoeblack

      @@brettharter143there are multiple variations to the recipe, I was just suggesting the one that works best for me for specific wood lovers. Besides why are you gatekeeping the comments, mycology is an ever expanding study, nothing is set in stone. Except being really clean lol

      @@eviljoeblackits not gatekeeping. Master Mix is a defined recipe with defined results. Your just talking about supplemented hardwood sawdust mix, not masters mix...

    How much final substrate does this recipie make in KG/ liters?

    • @ezmushroom

      The Coco expands to 10L once the water is added.

    Can I store this substrate or do I typically have to make it to use at the time of setting up a monotub?

      I guess the factor that matters is the moisture level, I am assuming if it is stored air tight like a mushroom bag it would hold up ok?

    • @ezmushroom

      You could store it for a couple of days (some say up to a week but I personally wouldn't risk it) as long as its air tight.

    Why do you have measurements for a dry ingredient in litres?! Why?😢

    • @mariofox8377

      Dry vermiculite and dry coco coir have to be equal 1:1 in volume
      If you use a brick of coco (600gr) eyeball the same volume of vermiculite then add your water.
      You can avoid vermiculite imo and use only coco coir and no gypsum tbh... Your first time don't over complicate it

      1 litre can be used for dry ingredients as a volume measurement.

    does it have to pure gypsum or can you use the mixed ones from a garden supply that come more in a sand base?

    • @ezmushroom

      Pure gypsum. Plenty of people go without it and swear it makes no difference though so you can also skip it

    What was your spawn:sub ratio here? 2L spawn and app 9L sub?

    • @ezmushroom

      Yes just about, probably more like 2 x 800ml of grain as there was space in the jars
