  • Jon gives his verdict on the Pro 3 3000 from Oral-B.
    This electric toothbrush is a mid-range option with multiple cleaning modes, pressure sensor and 2 week battery life.
    There are a few different variants, including the Pro 3 3500 and 3 3900.
    The Pro 3 3500 is likely the better buy as it is identical to 3000 but comes with a travel case.
    The Pro 3 3900 is the same as the 3 3000 but you get 2 brush handles and heads included in the box. Only 1 charging stand and no travel case.

      As a general rule no. Yes, there does tend to be an improvement in quality from a product priced at £/$10 to £/$35 for example, but paying £/$90 doesn't generally result in any meaningful quality improvements.
      The models get better in the sense that the more you pay, typically the more features you get, but very few need or want these extra features.

    Just bought a Pro 3 3000. I give it 4/5 stars. Not 5 because the handle is slippery although once it gets some limescale on it from hard water it may be better ! Not keen on the oblong head so switched to a sensitive one on sensitive mode. Satisfactory now but I got it half price in Sainsburys. Don't think I'd like to pay £90 until they improve the handle. Before I had a 600 series. Much grippier handle but no sensitive mode and it made my teeth rattle !

      I too have just bought the Oral B Pro 3000 and it's perfectly adequate. I've put an elastic band around for extra grip as I have gripping issues with my hands. I recently saw my hygienist and asked her advice on electric brushes. She recommended the Oral B's in the middle to high price bracket. I didn't want the all singing all dancing models as feel that they're not really needed. I'm personally not interest in using an app with it, nor all the difference levels. I think the Pro 3 offers what it is needed. Although I feel that the teeth whitening level is a bit redundant. That's my own opinion anyway.

    • @ElectricTeeth
      @ElectricTeeth  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      It is personal opinion, but I do think the rubber grip on the Pro 2 2000/2 2500 feels slightly more secure/grippy in hand. Making them my pick. The Pro 2 2500 is usually the best value.
      The clean just the same, so nothing to worry about there.

    • @ElectricTeeth
      @ElectricTeeth  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      To an extent yes. A powerful motor will deliver what can feel like more intense/harsh cleaning to the gums, so the slower brushing modes help avoid this. But soft bristled brush heads so, the Oral-B Sensitive or SeniUltraThin brush head are very useful for a more gentle brushing experience.

    I've been researching mid range Oral B's and came to the conclusion of this one, the 3000. I was confused about the difference between 3D and cross-action? I'm not completely sure tbh. Please can you explain? Thanks 😊

    • @ElectricTeeth
      @ElectricTeeth  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      CrossAction is the brush head (bristle) configuration. The CrossAction head has angled bristles. Compare this to the Precision Clean head for example where the bristles are straight. More details in this video: th-cam.com/video/DlDxmmfpd30/w-d-xo.html
      3D referes to the cleaning action. Oral-B offer brushes with 2D or 3D cleaning action. 2D brushes have an oscillating and rotating cleaning action, whereas the 3D cleaning introduces pulsations too. The addition of pulsations makes for a better clean. Therefore you ideally want a brush with a 3D cleaning action. The Pro 3 3000 has this.

  • @marinaalex0510
    @marinaalex0510 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Thank you for the video. I am planning to buy an electric brush and have been considering this one or the Vitality Pro.
    The questions are 1. if the lithium battery is preferable. 2. Is pulsation important to have?
    And I wonder - if we are supposed to go through the front and back surfaces AND the biting surface - it doesn't seem possible to cover the whole quadrant in 30 seconds and the entire mouth in 2 minutes. Your input, please.

    • @ElectricTeeth
      @ElectricTeeth  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      So my pick is this over the Vitality Pro. The Vitality isn't bad, but small things make this brush much better, for not a considerable amount extra cost.
      The Pro 3 offers a bit more cleaning power/effectiveness. It has a 3D cleaning action rather than the 2D of the Vitality. Basically the bristles move more on the Pro 3 to help clean well. Also the Pro 3 has a batter notification LED which the Vitality doesn't so you have no easy way of telling if the Vitality's battery is fully charged or flat.
      In answer to your questions specifically.
      1. Lithium batteries are typically considered to be better, but it isn't a make or break issue really.
      2. The Pulsations do help provide a deeper clean, so yes, I believe so.
      It is possible to clean a quadrant of teeth in 30 seconds. You can spend longer if you wish, but 2 minutes in total for the whole mouth is the minimum. But research has found that if you brushed for 4 minutes in total for example, the mouth isn't actually that much cleaner than after 2 minutes of brushing. Whilst brushing for longer does help, there is a point were its not as worthwhile essentially.
      Plus you can over-brush. Thus, brushing 4 minutes twice a day is potentially verging on too much as an example.

      @@ElectricTeeth Thank you so much for the timely and detailed answer. Can you tell if Pro 1, specifically the Pro 1 800 model which is supplied with the Ultrathin sensitive head, has the 3d technology as in oscillates, pulsates and rotates?

    Jon, do I have a bit of a small lemon or is it normal for the brush to wobble back and forth (so front and back facing the brush) when you place it on a surface? Seems like the rubber padding isn't level all the way around, leaving less than a mm gap at one side so it isn't 100% stable when placed down.

    • @ElectricTeeth
      @ElectricTeeth  ปีที่แล้ว

      If i understand correctly what you mean, as a general rule they sit flat and pretty stable on a countertop. If touched may rock very slightly but shouldn't be a noticeable rock. The base o the brush should be even all round really.

      Without writing a big essay of the differences it is a pretty similar scenario. Comparable but different. Both clean the teeth well. The Sonicare has the better battery life and feels more premium, but the Oral-B has a pressure sensor and works out more cost effective long term because the heads are cheaper.

      I don't know the exact reason. I suspect reliability and durability was more likely a reason than cost. A second button gives a potential additional wear/failure point. This is a guess rather than fact.

      Like I said, it’s a not a big deal and definitely not a deal breaker. Having said that, i do appreciate the all plastic handle, the rubber coated handles do collect grime as you pointed out in your written reviews.
      I’ll note as well that whilst the handle is assembled in Germany, the charger meanwhile is made in Hungary. Those chargers were always made in Germany, perhaps in the future their handles will also be produced offshore !

    Thanks for review. I have ordered the 2 2000 and it beat to my teeth 🦷 and I don’t feel comfortable. I tried other one Pro 500 (and Pro 750) and it feels much better, because it only rotated, and not have vibration. Maybe mine has some defect? I think will I get any benefits if I will switch to the Pro 3000? Thanks

    • @ElectricTeeth
      @ElectricTeeth  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Anton. I am not sure if you have used an electric toothbrush before? It can take some time to get used to it.
      The Pro 500 & 750 will help clean your teeth effectively, but there are benefits to the Pro 2 2000 and 3 3000.
      It is possible the Pro 2 2000 is faulty, but I can't say without handling it. The cleaning power is quite intense. This would be the same with the Pro 3 3000, so if you don't get on with the 2000, you wont get on with the 3000.

I felt much more comfortable with a rotating series without 3D feature, it just rotating and cleans teeth super good. Then upgraded to 2 2000 just to have a Li-Ion battery to charge rarely, and it was surprising to me that it not just rotating, but also vibrating too much. My wife tried once and returned to her Pro 1 model (750). For her it’s much more gentle
