I hate the Rocket Boots, I find they add a slight delay to the jetpack activating where it's waiting to see if you're going to double tap to activate the Rocket Boots which reduces your momentum when melee jumping. Also find they activate unpredictably, especially when trying to jetpack up steep inclines. Useful for places where you can't melee attack but not worth the trade-off imo.
Starship launch fuel problem can be solved pretty early in a play through. Chances are that you spawn in a system with the merchants guild. Donate salvaged data modules I think they are called to the guild a couple of times. Once you get the lowest rank (rank 1)then you can get stack of 3 launch fuels from them pretty consistently, rarely is it some other item.
I very seldom use launch fuel any more. As soon as I can find a planet with uranium I'll get some and use it instead. It's even sold. In a space station if it's not sold at the Galactic Trade terminal start checking with the pilots. They have different inventories so one of them may have some.
I pretty much never use a conflict scanner. The economy scanner is a must have. If I'm lucky I can have one in less than an hour in the game. After I repair my ship I get 225 nanites and go to a minor settlement. There I buy a transport receiver and the advanced mining laser. Buying the transport receiver allows me to get the economy scanner at the first crashed ship I find. I can use the units from the ship to buy things like the wiring loom I need. Also don't forget to delete the upgrade in the crashed ship and get the resources. I find a poi then go north to stay on the ley line until I find a transmission tower to locate a crashed ship. I do this before getting contacted the first time in the game and before I get invited to the space station. That means having to locate the space station without it being marked. It is marked in your ship now so that makes it easier to find. There have been times I just look up in the sky and can see it above the planet.
first: you do not NEED any tech, it just helps ;) But with our list: rocketboosts are meh, some find them useful, others (like me) dislike them. You can perfectly live without them. Conflict scanner helps finding unchartered systems (without aliens or spacestations). Wtih a decent ship and upgrades weaponas, pirates are no problem, the scan deflector is just a little extra comfort. The personal refiner should be 1st on your list. Aqua jets are not needed, just create and island with your multitool. In general: skip C and B class upgrades. Only install those when a quest requires. Exception: C-class foton upgrade for heat spreading. The C and b class are not worth it. Once you find curious deposits, build a base and grind a little the mold for nanites. Only mine until you have a few million units. Buy stuff at stations instead. Tech to avoid: Atlas pass and Translator modules, they are not worth it. Rocketboots are not either in my opinion. I see many people talking about how to get things fast, how to rush to the end. This is not a 1hour mobile game. This is a huge 200+ hours exploring, farming, pirating, collecting, swimming, building, looting, mining, discovering style of game. There is no rush. There is no end. There are 255 universes to explore. And you want to miss everything? Park your ship, walk around, take a swim. Scan, explore, enjoy the suroundings. Take your time building a base,. Set up a mining and farming base. Explore the wildlife. Use exocrafts. Take your time!
I think you made a good list, especially the freighter information, lots of players don't realize how useful a well equipped freighter can be. I have a bad habit of putting all of my early game nanites into weapons and exosuit upgrades, when some of the freighter or ship upgrades would be more useful, especially the autocharger
Great guide, one thing worthy of mention in early ownership of your freighter is the exocraft materialiser can be obtained from the Anomaly for a few salvaged modules thus one does not ned to use a salvaged frigate module to install it. Matter beam gives one access to the main cargo shoot from anywhere in the universe and the storage box’s from within the system. Matter beam is a big must have to free up exosuite storage space.
The matter beam is the first thing I install when getting a new freighter. I think it's that good. I used to use the exocraft more than I do now. They're good with the upgraded scanners at finding drop pods and crashed ships and other things. After I first started I got heavy into fully repairing crashed ships and scrapping them. A lot of my first resource bases was for resources to repair the crashed ships. Now my first warp is to a dissonant system and I scrap sentinel ships. They've also become my favorite ship. I wanted a ship that hovered for years before the sentinel ship was added. IMO the personal refiner M2 is one of the best things ever added to the game. That's one of the first things I buy when I can call the anomaly. I identify the creatures on as many of the planets in the first system to get the nanites to buy things like this and upgrades. Mold is a good option if you can find it. I get bored really fast with it. I've got a few bases with mold. One base I've got 2 deposits that I can use short range teleporters between them and mine them continuously. I think another good options for nanites is going to pirate systems and buy the tech then going to a normal system and selling them. The aqua jets finally allowed me to find out something I've wondered for years about. Landing in the middle of an open area of ocean and see how deep the water is. IMO the indium drive is a must have. I get prepared in the starter system so when I get access to the anomaly I buy the indium drive and install it. That way my second warp can be to any system I want to. The auto launch charger is nice I just wish it charged faster.
A detail with the Aqua Jets for your starship's Launch Thrusters. Not only does this allow you to land on water, but they also include a recharge feature that slowly recharges your Launch Thrusters. Not sure if this stacks if you already have a Lauch Thruster recharge upgrade to make it recharge faster...or if getting the Aqua Jets negates the need for the individual recharge upgrade also.
I used a super charge slot on launch thrusters and with the auto charger too i literally never run out of launch fuel. I can launch and land as much as i want and it never goes below 85%
I don't have a freighter yet but I like to go to the random frieghtors that spawn in and do the planets scans from there so I don't have to stare at and find each planet to see what they got
Thank you for putting the work in to make your awesome videos on this equally as awesome game they really do help so much anyways ive dropped yet another like and also subbed and looking forward to the next one 😊 please keep the great content coming!!!
@cicio7777 yea - if you have the matter beam fitted within your freighter technology, you can transfer items from your inventory to the freighter regardless of the system you are in.
Helpful information, however I keep getting sidetracked by the large number of upgrades for everything in the game (exosuit, ship, multitool, freighter, maybe even more). I would really like it if the game gets an update and adds the option to merge some upgrades. For instance, the hyperdrive upgrades that enable going to star system of certain class (like the blue star systems), they should be just one item, upgraded for each tech unlocked. A similar option would be awesome for the supreme and/or forbidden upgrades that you can buy, cuz their randomly generated stats can be very annoying (especially for the forbidden class). It would be great if you could upgrade your own upgrades using other upgrades (upgrade-ception), to maximize the bonus stats in a more viable way. For me this is the annoying part of No Man's Sky, they add a lot of stuff with updates, but the old stuff is forgotten, or sidelined. For instance, the quests lines for the base NPC, the overseer, the scientist and such, they end up being pretty much useless after doing the quest lines. Might as well update them to offer an upgrade upgrading service.
Yo I still have my starter ship and for some apparent reason it just changed its color from that white and red to a green white yellow combination I’m just saying Cool video by the way!! Here is one tip Learn to make certain delicious treats that boost your stamina and jet pack My favorites salty juice and mystery meat stew
Question for anyone. If I choose "reset" at Atlas, it won't reset my progress and take everything from me will it? Great list. Wish the scanner/filters told you what the colors indicate.
I've been wondering why/how I sometimes jump forward. I've been doing it by accident, and have been thinking how useful it would be if I knew how.😒 Thx.
@geoffreyhebel2438 Frigate Modules can be sort by completing missions in Space Stations via the Mission Agent and Nexus missions in the Anomaly, just check what the rewards are for each mission. They can also be found by scavenging Crashed Freighters and Derelict Freighters - you won't always get one, but I generally do. Sending Frigates out on Expedition yields plenty of different rewards, sometimes you will get Frigate Modules. - if you meant Cargo Bulkheads, you can find them the same way (just covering all bases). I have a video on how to find Freighter upgrades, check it out if you want (I don't mention the Space Station or Nexus Missions in that video).
Fastest way is to boost status with explorer or merchant guild. In certain space stations they will give you a free one with higher rank. Teleport to another system and back and the module will be available again. Teleport around and make note of what’s available. I would get frigate module then warp to another system and get a storage module for my ship and then back to get a frigate etc. You’ll be able to find multi-tool expansion slots, cargo bulkheads too.
@@zerocrutch THIS! Wow, top-tip right here! Oh man the guilds are so underrated by most people - a lot of players completely ignore them! When you realize the free and greatly reduced-price gifts they give you every single time it really should be a no-brainer
That's normal for the matter beam. The matter beam also gives access to the storage containers in the freighter when the freighter is in the same system as you are.
When he says "need", he just means if you want to be strong, effective, and efficient. So I guess it's a "want" if you don't care about those things, or your time, or other players time since they'll be waiting on you a lot if you are slow or have to keep stopping or simply can't do something due to lack of tech. Same as for choosing to have or not have enough inventory slots.
One thing to add: Sometime you get Technologie Blueprints from NPCs in the Space Stations after you train their language. I don't know exactly what word you say will trigger it, but I guess something like "Technology", "Spaceship", "Help" "Weapon" something like that. This is how I managed to get a few blueprints for free. Especially helpful in Expeditions or when you just started a new save and dont got much Nanites

@xela6194 thanks 👍. I'll put these in.
Thank you soooooo much legend❤❤

I get that. They have there problems.
I use them just cause I get anxious at stations 😂

Exotic casually flys by in the first 12 seconds
Yea, I know. I was concentrating on the video tbh. I have an exotic ship I really like.

I agree 👍
They make the game more fun and enjoyable. That makes it a need for me
Uranium is also found at "Metal Fingers"! I like to make a base or at least a teleporter near "Metal Fingers"!
@shallendor that's a great shout.
The scanner room is definitely a great thing to have. I really wish they would have done a little better job of explaining these different things.
@josephsczech2421 Agreed!
I think you made a good list, especially the freighter information, lots of players don't realize how useful a well equipped freighter can be.
I have a bad habit of putting all of my early game nanites into weapons and exosuit upgrades, when some of the freighter or ship upgrades would be more useful, especially the autocharger
@cecib7927 thanks. Yeah, I always do the same thing. The freighter can be so good when it's upgraded etc

@shmayazuggot8558 good point about the Exocraft Orbital Materialiser - and agreed, the Matter Beam in definitely a must have!
For suit I always prioritize jetpack, for ships I prioritize maneurability. For guns I always go for mining.
Jetpack - agreed, maneuverability - agreed, with the multi-tool I normally prioritize the weapon personally.
Having a stack of uranium is the best for launch thrusters.
Yea, definitely.

Did an exotic ship just pass by at the start of the video? This made the intro looks cool though👽
Yea, I lucked out with that 😅

I can’t play without the improved jetpack mod at this point. It just makes traveling on foot so much more enjoyable
Solar ships don't need a launch recharger, I believe. The vesper sail module that comes with it should take care of that.
@LarzV62 that's for this. Gonna check it out.
Thank you for putting the work in to make your awesome videos on this equally as awesome game they really do help so much anyways ive dropped yet another like and also subbed and looking forward to the next one 😊 please keep the great content coming!!!
@houseguest4534 you're welcome. And thank you!
Is there any way to transfer to and from your freighter that is farther than being in the same solar system?
@cicio7777 yea - if you have the matter beam fitted within your freighter technology, you can transfer items from your inventory to the freighter regardless of the system you are in.
I found that you can't climb cliffs when you have rocket boots. Did you test that?
@hughjardon3538 I have tested this and you're right, you can't use the Rocket Boots to climb mountains. Only the standard Jet Pack will work.

My favorites salty juice and mystery meat stew
@kevinbarnes3404 thanks. And will do, plenty of units can be made with delicious treats.
Did you happen to get in multiplayer with someone? Even my freighter used to change color when I got in multiplayer with someone.
Question for anyone. If I choose "reset" at Atlas, it won't reset my progress and take everything from me will it?
Great list. Wish the scanner/filters told you what the colors indicate.
@digthathole5521 no, you won't lose your progress if you select reset. What did you select in the end?

How do you get freighter modules. Is it just mission rewards or random chance?

What happens when you get cargo scanned and you have stuff you're not supposed to have?
If you have valuable cargo, pirates will attack you. If you have banned cargo, interceptors will attack you.
Either my game is bugged or the Matter Beam actually has no range limit. I an able to store and take items from my freighter while in other systems.
@toastybearcub3365 that's amazing! When I finally get the Matter Beam I hope it's the same.
