    At 2:52 when u got that type of speed, "The Shamgod" move is very lethal to have an your arsenal, almost unfair when u think about it. Takes an very disciplined defender to not get caught by that move. Next time brother just give this fast brother (Sebastian Telfair)alot of space.

      Old comment but you’re right. It’s so tempting as a defender to think you can snatch the ball. But as soon as you try to do that it’s all over (assuming the ball handler has elite quickness).

    That phrase ever had any truth. Only New Yorkers believe that. New York basketball is more about flash than fundamentals. The only time kids from NY make it big is when they go play ball somewhere else like Oak Hill or a private school in Jersey. Neither high school or college basketball in city of NY is getting anyone anywhere of significance. Best player to come out of NY, high school and college, in recent memory is Ron Artest.

  • @Bleekcastle
    @Bleekcastle 11 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    True but like I said had he gone to college and got some experience his career might have been more than what it is. What people don't realize is that he was supposed to go to louisville and play for them but decided to go to the NBA at the last minute cause somebody got killed in the projects he grew up in right outside his mothers door. He wanted to hurry up and get his family out the hood. But at the end of the day I wish him well. He may not be a superstar but still a gifted point guard IMO.

    New york. most overrated city for hoops, most overrated players, esp the point guards. name a point guard from new york in the top 10 in the L or in the L's history. yet all they talk about is NYC point guards. this guy got drafted out of high school ahead of jammer nelson, and other point guards who were much better- cos of his new york hype.
    I aint dissing new york- just saying- he NC has produced Steph Curry, John Wall, and CP3- and you don't hear them out there calling NC point guards are the baddest- like Kenny Smith. the guy makes it sound like they're producing genius's up there. fact is- to be a great point guard in the NBA, streetball will fuck up your game. a pro point guard is like a pro quarterback- and reading defences, leading offences, making the right play and being efficient is more important that fast break highlights, bouncing the ball off a dudes face and all of that stuff. don't get me wrong- i love that shit too- but it aint gonna make good nba players- i mean it hasn't yet. if i had to produce a nba point guard live or die, id rather see my point guard go AAU and get coached proper from 10 than to be on the blacktop picking up them habits.

    • @mako4874
      @mako4874 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Mike Hamilton they were ok- yeah good- but yeesh- ud think they produced jjordan , kobe, lebron and dr j by the way they go on. carolina and california produce more and better ballers by state. by far.

    • @mako4874
      @mako4874 9 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      new york- more likely to produce a chef, theatre performer, whatver- so many things to do in NYC- whereas other places its literally a basketball court for 10 miles and thats it- thats why other places produce more greatness. u need boredom.

    Sebastian is a solid pro at this point, he played very well for the Suns this year and even won their team hustle award named after Dan Majerle. It's obvious he's put in a lot of work on his game. He's a much better shooter than he was, way improved D and he's making much better decisions as a playmaker.
    He just seems more comfortable and consistent.

  • @youngfase5

  • @tmizzle89
    @tmizzle89 8 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    he was a total none factor in the NBA. I watched him for his first few years, cause my team (the BLAZERS) drafted him, and I still don't remember him making any dope highlights or putting up stats at all! he was too small and one dimensional for the league. All he had was his quickness and ball handling and he couldn't even get buckets with that, cause he was too small and not acrobatic enough to finish when he got in the lane and his jumper and three ball were broke AF.

    • @livehighlightss

      Exactly. I hate when people call dude a bust... he played in 564 NBA games and started in 193 (Wikipedia stats). Considering he was taken 13th and was under 6ft like Rashad said, that's an above average career. Dude's a legit baller.

    Has some of the best handles you'll ever see. He was too anxious to get to the NBA he should of went to Louisville. But he didn't. He's not a bust cause he wasnt drafted so high. He was never a point guard who would of been capable to get you 20 points 10 assist he was more like a 16 points 8 or 9 assist guy. Lookin at all his hs vids even if he turned out to be good I dont think he would of been a "Great Point Guard"

  • @HARVEY_1988
    @HARVEY_1988 13 ปีที่แล้ว

    @grasd2 Only thing he did wrong was skip college, he was suppose to attend louisville before deciding on going pro.....with a few years under pitino's system and the competition of the big east, in my opinion, he could of been a all-star guard inthe nba...........Remember allen iverson was the same way in high school before going to georgetown and actually learning how to play the game and getting teammates involved......He should of went to college.......

  • @slick1hit
    @slick1hit 14 ปีที่แล้ว

    yea he should of went to college to develope his game but how ppl gets that chance to go pro after high skoo,how many ppl get tha chance to get there own sho after high skoo,not that many there a good chance where if he went to college he wouldnt of got drafted opportunity only knocks onces sometimes twice so u cant really blame him for doin that shit i would of done the same thing if they gave me a 6 mill shoe deal 2 lol

    the only reaosn evryone saying that he sucks in the nba is that nba players dont have az much fun az the guy from new york who ball nba players dont cut they dont make themselves available enough for telfair o deliver a great pass the wait around to get the ball and shoot or drive they dont allow a pg to be a real pg.. telfair is definetly pro talent for sure.all he had to do was develop a 3 point shot and mid and he wud be a star becuase his quickness is very elite

  • @secondsunn4

    Karem Archibald Erving Monroe Frasier Chamberlain Hawkins Bing Payton Kidd Davis Marbury Alston the list goes on n on..this "streetball" term been raped.If Shaq were to play streetball and dominated the post he'd be a legend...if Steve Kerr were to play and rain 3s all day season after season he'd be a legend...if you can ball you can ball...theres conditions out of players hands when you get in the league..stop hating cus they dont get the same shine they do outdoors

  • @secondsunn4
    @secondsunn4 15 ปีที่แล้ว

    WRONG!...sorry...ever hear of Lenny Cook..that was a bust...Telfair is still young and his numbers are going up each season (not by much but up still)..true u get experience with college ball but even thats not guaranteed to help...theres small college players who end up shining in the league then theres bigname college players who falter in the league...it all depends on how your game translates at the next level

  • @Nolia12
    @Nolia12 15 ปีที่แล้ว

    Because he definitaly could have been better than a role player who has yet to average 10ppg in his career in NBA. He is very talented, but I believe with more emphasis on fundamentals, he could have been a very very good point guard. So when I say waste, I am speaking on where I think his skills could have taken him to this point. I dont think skipping college did much for his game. He's not even playing 20 min per night on a bad and very young Twolves team this year. That help you az4515...??

He's not even playing 20 min per night on a bad and very young Twolves team this year. That help you az4515...??

    not every point guard will put up superstar stats, with 20 and 11 assist or good stats like 17 and 7. and hes averaging 9 and 6 assist. which are very solid, and hes doing it with a decent field goal percentage and less talent around him. and he can give you 25-30 min a game. hes a solid player. just give him a little more time before planting bust tag. BASKETBALL isnt that easy cuz if it was we would all be in the nba instead of being here talking bout the nba.

    lol, kobe was benched under byron scott for a 2 years. and it took jermaine oneal 5 or 6 years to put up the #s they expected from him. and KG it took him a year to put up the #s that were expected from him. but you only named three people, which you were wrong about. and i said that he was a streaky shooter. but hes a hard worker so there is still hope. all you nerds that dont watch or play basketball. just shut up.

    @ngpdreamteam2k4 16 ปีที่แล้ว

    he came out of highschool, so it will take him longer to hit where he needs to be. and i said it can go both ways, success or failure. and if no team wants him why is it on every team hes played for he gets 25-30 min per game?????? because they what he brings to the table. hes solid. and its a little early for bust tag not too early though iight. it takes the average highschool player 3-5 years to find his place. unless they are the freakishly big coming in to the NBA like LBJ and DWIGHT HOWARD

  • @ngpdreamteam2k4
    @ngpdreamteam2k4 16 ปีที่แล้ว

    he doesnt suck he just wasnt ready, hes not lebron or dwight howard, gifted with a NBA body from the start, hes a undersized point guard with a streaky jumpshot. it happens alot with young players that comeout as FRESHMAN in college or SENIORS in highschool their bodies arent fully matured.give him a year and if hes not succesful then you can give him the bust tag if he is you will probably jump on the vanwagon.

    bullshit, i dont buy it plenty of guys go to school 4 years and they no more or less ready in the pros. you either got it or you dont. there are plenty of variable in being a great pro and there is no comlete science. rick pitino had mercer for for three years how he turn out. i know one thing if you had the high school allstars in the nba against the 4 years college nba players im picking high school players buy 50

    Most guys from NYC usually are pretty selfish and vain when it comes to their skills. They can get away with on the streets, but not in the NBA. The only guys from New York I can think of that are effective players are Odom [born in Jamaica, Queens], Artest, Brand and former player Mark Jackson. I know SMush Parker, Telfair and MArbury are from NY, but I don't see them as being more than good athletes.

    Wow he is the Man! Guess that is why Portland who won 21 games last year traded him. Or why he could only start 30 games for a 21 win team. He WAS the man on the playground (defense not a premium there.) And in H.S. against H.S. talent (most of which don't get to play D1 Ball) and against guys who "think" they have game. Till he does it in the league he is just another playground legend livin off of buzz created when he was in H.S. But he makin more than I ever will so he doin somethin right

    in the summer leagues there were no zones. In the league there is zones. He should have went to school, but he didn't,If the NBA was under the old man 2 man rules he would be more successful. it's still too early to tell what he will become. We will know in do time. Not really, LJ had games being highlighted on sportscenter. They said that because this is the feature on the Through The Fire DVD and highlights Bassy's accomplishments. Also, this is the rucker, New York's own not Cleveland's own. But u right from the point that Bassy is more famous as a street baller in NY.

    lmao to the suns fan who are still excited about telfair his hyped died about the time entered the NBA and to the people why doesn't he play like this in the NBA ..what make no look passes? cus no one give a fuck about that they want you to look and yes he has handles but he's undersized and can't shoot ..nuff said lol

  • @kanguesso

    The high school jump straight to the NBA is not for every one, some kids can handle it, Lebron, Kobe, KG and others but not this kid. It fucked him up. He was not ready for such a leap in talent, speed, athleticism, strength and power the NBA game presents. His fans can say what they want but he was not ready for the NBA. Where is he now?

    @akman770 My question to you is How much longer are you going to say that? Dropped passes or not. The guy is a veteran in the league learn how to play with your teamates. There really isn't anything special about this guy either. Jason Williams (White) came in and was going crazy with his passes. He wound up being a good back up point guard it happens.

  • @blaaket123
    @blaaket123 13 ปีที่แล้ว

    @akman770 Do you her yourself talking. To even suggest that Telfair is missing piece to a championship is crazy. If he had talent and that was good he wouldn't even be in Cleveland. No offense. That is probably the worst statement I have heard about basketball.Just checked theguy averaged 7.2 points in Minnesota too. The guy just a bust. If Ricky Rubio comes, he is gone.

    @Jared504 How are people disagreeing with my general point that his game doesn't translate well to the NBA? That's speaks for itself if you look at his resume or lack there of. He's never even played on a playoff team because he's not good enough to make a good team. He's got to settle for riding the bench with the Timberwolves

  • @grasd2
    @grasd2 13 ปีที่แล้ว

    @Jared504 Why do you keep bringing up his shooting percentage? It's nothing special at all even this season and his career percentages are just terrible. And his court vision isn't good, why are you acting like he's John Stockton or something? And his defense is as good as any player his size? That's not saying much. Every guy he guards can shoot over him.

    Ok people youve made your point..he isnt the star of the Nba But he would definately kill anyone on here writin bullshit comments on him..i do agree Louisville wouldve turned him into a better player, but it was his decision and hes still good enough to be in the Nba..that would be good enough for me..it takes skill just to stay.they cut people everyday..

    @andergra000 yea exactly these nba players are trained to be shooters drivers defenders passers and shit like that most of them arnt taught how to slash. and help the point guard and get the point guard open drives and give the pg breathing room...except probually the phonix suns and jazz..do u see all dem screens they set ..telfair wud fit great in that offense

    Just because you're great in the street doesn't mean you're gonna be great in the NBA. Sure he has some amazing street basketball moves. But, they are just that, Street moves. He is a BUM in the NBA. I don't even know what team he plays for now. I think i saw him buried at the end of the CAVS' bench the other day. WHAT A BUST.

    Hope you know a lot of cats got there start from street ball that made it to the nba. Doctor J was one of them as well as so many others. But some of the moves in street ball you can't do in the nba because a lot of traverlling and carrying the ball, This is pure entertainment I rather watch this then most of the nba games.
