Between Newburyport, Salem, Cape Cod and Martha's Vineyard - the small island Nahant, MA is a hidden gem on the Massachusetts coast. Technically, Nahant is not a true island but rather a "tombolo" which is an island connected to the mainland via a sandbar. Enjoy this relaxing scenic drive through an overlooked coastal paradise just minutes north of Boston, Massachusetts. The smallest inhabited "island" in Massachusetts, Nahant is connected by a thin peninsula off of Lynn, MA. The peninsula is lined by expansive, calming beaches under the backdrop of the Boston skyline. A stunning quiet corner hidden inside a very busy area of Massachusetts, Nahant started as grazing land for Lynn residents and quickly became a small fishing community on the edge of the Atlantic.

Stephen King's son Joe Hill has a fascinatinion with Nahant. He loves the place and even featured it as the setting of his Locke & Keye series

I had no idea! I always thought it was odd that Nahant isn't mentioned more around Mass. A beach community like this, so close to Boston. I'm going to check out the show!

@@MileMarker4k Agreed. The actual filming took place in Nova Scotia but when Hill was writing it he based the town on Nahant. Supposedly he loved the story about the witch and Swallow Cave. Another fun fact: Martin Scorsese filmed parts of Shudder Island in Nahant. The scenes with Mark Ruffalo standing in the rocks was filmed at Forty Steps Beach.
