I pulled my seeder with nearly the same hitch. Never went back to garden tractor. Rigged up (with the help of a pulley) and drilled a hole in end of engage handle. Ran a small red rope and a small yellow rope and turned it on and off from drivers seat. Works great.
This is a Absolutely Great Video of planting! Beautiful Garden. Iv got a couple vintage John Deeres Garden tractors with some Brinly Planters and Disc's, Plows, Hares!!
Love your planter adaptation. That's pretty nifty. For your potatoes, you can cut them up so that you have 2-3 sprouted eyes per chunk, let them 'dry' for 2 days, then plant them sprout side up. You can make a bag of seed potatoes go much further.
I always used disc harrow and while they both did a good job tilling the disc doesnt let tractor tires to settle down and leave deep tracks like the tiller.
I thought Ms. Tonya was from Louisiana by her accent. Love the idea on the planter. I found an old case 2 row 3pt planter at an estate sale. Gave me an idea to convert it to a single row.
I'm no professional gardener or farmer, but the way we keep grass from sprouting is ether weed it out before we till our garden, or if its a little field we plow it, so the grass gets buried 8inches below the dirt. That way the sprouting of grass is minimal. I was wondering if you tilling the already sprouted grass would not cause you problems during the growing season.
Nice video! The tractor handled very well the tiller, it did not seem to fight it! That will be a very nice garden. The planter worked well, almost as good as a crescent wrench! I was also surprised to see a healthy lawn all around the pool! You give me hope that spring will come soon here! For now, dogs are still playing in the snow... Thanks Tania and Tony!
I have a 45hp tym that I use for garden and pasture preparation and planting. I made an attachment for the tiller that makes 3 rows right behind the tiller at the same time. You have me thinking about adding a couple planters to it. Nice setup
Is there something to be said in reference to no till, verses tilling topsoil? Seems there's a lot for talk about some sort of damage from tilling. I don't know anything about it, was wondering what you guys think?
I am leaning toward no-till in the future. I will rip deep and till this year. I am going to try no-till for the next 4 years. Then rip deep and till again on a 5-year rotation.
Ive never planted and want to prepare a 1/4 acre section. I have all buffel grass and not sure how to prevent that from over taking my garden. I wanted to brush hog it and then use the tiller repeatedly to keep tearing up the weeds. Should I use weed killer first?
Good morning Sir ! Nice looking tractor !!! Great planting unit !!! Crescent wrench could be used for various things that they were not made for,,, LOL Very nice garden !!! Keep up the good work both of you and nice dog !!! Cheers and happy Easter !!!

@@TonysTractorAdventure that planter would be more efficient if you had a few of them on like a bar or something so you could set your row spacing how you want it and do multiple rows at a time
I use the plate that is used for butter beans. The pocket will put three seeds out about every foot. The Bayou farmer puts ducktape to cover the pocket to change the space between seeds.
That planter looks great. Do you have a blueprint of the metal frame you made? I have one of them and getting to old to push mine. I noticed the planter popping with the okra seeds. Mine did that.
