Magnificent. Sometimes I do a 130km ride and I'm on the bike for six to seven hours, and then I think to myself I'm really cool. I can't imagine 500km in one day, nor what it's like to be on the bike for 18 hours or more. Congratulations!
Great job on your feat of breaking the previous record by 16 hours and 17 minutes early. This record is not likely to be broken for some time to come. Congratulations!
Congratulations Jack! I was impressed by the way you and your team came together as a team and challenged yourselves to the end! Message from Japan 🇯🇵❤️
Thanks so much! This was definitely a team effort and I couldn’t have done it without their support. The support of the Japanese people was amazing too!! 🇯🇵❤️
If you decide to visit Japan again, the 1000 kilometer round-trip Shikoku Circuit ride is awesome! The route is painted on the road and Shikoku is sparsely populated with a climate like Florida sort of.
@@jackultracyclistofficial thanks! My wife, daughter, and I are saving up for the Shikoku Circuit ride. It's scheduled for 11 days and there is an official website. It's more relaxed than your tip to tip Japanese ride. We are planning on pedaling and snacking at an average speed of 10 kph. The longest distance is 130 kilometers and we will schedule 13 hours to finish it. We are planning on pedaling in late June and early July 2028 after we pay off our home. You are DEFINITELY invited but you could probably lap us twice at a casual speed.
Amazing adventure as always Jack 👏. Watching your videos gave me so much motivation, not only to cycling as hobby but also in to my life as whole, nothing is impossible. Congratulations 🥳, you are a legend 💪.
Amazing achievement Jack! 500km per day for 5 straight days is unfathomable! I had hoped to support you in person but got really sick and had to take some time off the bike. Back at it now and have the Cannonball high on my to do list.
Extraordinary feat. It’s hard to fathom how you can ride 580km in a day (after having ridden nearly 2,000km in 4 days). Fantastic documentary. Await the full 90 minute version. Ernest
Congratulations Jack….another amazing effort! For anyone thinking of cycling in Japan unsupported rear tail lights are a must for their tunnels. Also high vis vest is a great option as well as lanes are narrow without a lot of shoulders. Jack is right about the traffic lights….they can last up to a minute per cycle and they are one after another regardless of the size of the city.Lastly the Shimanami Kaido is one of the most beautiful rides in Japan and highly recommended to any recreational cyclist.Anyone thinking of cycling there “go” the people are amazing and the sites are beautiful.Congrats again Jack you are a warrior.
Absolutely, everything you’ve said is spot on 👌🏽 I was lucky enough to ride Shimanami Kaido a few years back and it was magic. Thanks for your support 🙏🏽
Kudos! An amazing ride. I rode Cape Sata to Cape Soya (2,597km) in the summer of 2023.... in a much, much more leisurely 18 days. The heat was intense until I got to Aomori. Japan is an amazing place to ride. Congratulations on your record!
That’s the way to do this ride!! I would love to come back and fill ow your schedule, taking in the amazing sights along the way. Congrats on your ride 😁
Bonkers stuff, brother. I remember when I saw your dot on the map with one day and the entire island of Hokkaido to go, thinking bugger this is gonna be rough. Nailed it tho. And a belter of a video, too.
Congratulations on this achievement🎉! I have two more questions. What kind of frame bag are you using, and how wide are the tires? 32mm tubeless? Best, Oli
Thankyou! For this ride I used a tailfin frame bag and my tyres were 35mm Specialized Mondo’s setup tubeless. I can’t fault these tyres. Zero punctures, fast rolling and confidence inspiring 👌🏽👌🏽
Great question. It’s definately an eating game as much as it is a ‘cycling game.’ Trying to manage the energy output with energy input is a challenge and at times the stomach doesn’t always enjoy it. I use Fuelin to help guide my nutritional needs. This and a lot of practice with different foods in the lead up to get a nice plan organized 👌🏽
To begin with my front light was an Exposure, but it dies on me, so I bought one at a small store (don’t remember the brand.) I’m testing some ‘diving’ lights at the moment and will record a video with my findings and recommendations soon 🙌🏽
Nice ride, pal. Would have been nice to see a moving map to better visualise your ride. Difficult to appreciate scale without seeing it on a map and had to keep pausing to run it through Google.

It’s all relative, 130km is still a long ride, so kudos to you mate 😁appreciate the comment 🙏🏽
Great job on your feat of breaking the previous record by 16 hours and 17 minutes early.
This record is not likely to be broken for some time to come.
Congratulations!
Thanks so much, and thanks for supporting my ride from Japan 😁🇯🇵❤️

Awesome stuff, congratulations! I saw you doing it on Strava, and was in Japan at the time. Wish I could have ridden with you a little.
Next time mate! Thankyou 🙏🏽
Amazing! I am curious what a massive effort and all of required calories like this does to your digestion...

Great job! I have been looking for a decent front light for evening/night riding. What were you using on your bicycle?
To begin with my front light was an Exposure, but it dies on me, so I bought one at a small store (don’t remember the brand.) I’m testing some ‘diving’ lights at the moment and will record a video with my findings and recommendations soon 🙌🏽
