Thanks for checking out more Dreamcatcher! What and the entire album are still definitely tied to the previous story. I like your interpretation of the Intro. It definitely feels like there's a fight taking place and that ties in with the story in the EP. What is the first MV in the storyline that takes place entirely in the Nightmare. After trying to save Yoohyeon in You & I they all got trapped and now they're stuck in a repeating loop of lucid nightmares. In each of the songs and MVs you can even find visual and lyrical representations of the repeating cycle. In What, the song begins and ends with Jiu waking up, and In Wonderland the choreo starts and ends in the same formation with the members moving back into their original spots as the nightmare restarts. In Wonderland, the significance of the cat noise is because the song is talking about Wonderland, like Alice in Wonderland, and the cat was the Cheshire cat. Trap starts with "Every day, the same day, on repeat" highlighting the repeating nature of the nightmare once again. July 7th is a misnomer as it's supposed to just represent the 7th day of the 7th month, which is Korean festival called Chilseok, which was derived from a Chinese romantic folktale. The story is about two lovers who were forced to live on separate ends of the milky way and were only allowed to see each other on the 7th day of the 7th month. I feel like this fits in with the story because Jiu is looking for Yoohyeon in the Nightmare, she can see her (across the milky way) but can't reach her. Great album reaction as always, looking forward to what you check out next from them.
Ooooh that makes sense. Earlier I was just replying to another comment, asking how it ties in with the lore. So this is where they get stuck. But why did JiU see Yoohyeon at one part of the video??
@@sassjastans They're all looking for Yoohyeon and trying to find her since she was the one who was attacked in You & I. She can see her in the distance but can't reach her. They're also looking for each other but every time they make progress the dream resets and they end up where they started. This will continue in Piri with them looking for each other.
Thank you very much for your full-album DC-reaction. I love "Trap" (2018) so much. Its for me the first alternative K-Pop song by a Girlgroup, i think - I love alternative music since more than 40 years. But - "Shatter" (2023) ist the muliplikation of this alternative path in the newest way. Between this are "Havana" (2018), "Diamond" (2019), "Boca" and "Odd eye (2021), "Fairytale" (2022) and "Propose" (2023) and more great songs and cover. This group is so special and talented, not only in K-Pop.
You’re right! (Listening to it now as I reply haha) it sounds so good on its own as well. I imagine a live band playing this like, in between sets in their concert. Maybe while they change or get ready for the next act. Waaah that’d be so cool 😍
@@sassjastans After being separated from Yoohyeon they're basically searching the Dream world for her and getting more and more desperate to find her and wake up from the nightmare, but it's like a maze they're lost in. They're losing themselves and screaming What What What in frustration.
Ohhhhhh that makes sense. I heard (read haha) that the dream resets every time they make progress in looking for each other. So I’m excited to know what happens in Piri!
"What" is still in my top 3 favorite title tracks. It's heavy for a Korean release and I love the syncopation in the second half of the chorus. Story-wise this is the first time they wear non-uniform outfits, which I believe is because they lost Yoohyeon (or at least her spirit) and are kind of broken. You can also see them search for her alone, not as a group. For me this is a song about the loss of a loved one and what that does to a group or family. I might be reaching, but this is the meaning for me.
Me too, out of all the title tracks I’ve heard so far, I also like this a lot (YOU AND I too). I didn’t even catch that, that they were looking for Yoohyeon. Is it because Yoohyeon was the only one in the room? How come JiU saw her outside? What was the significance of that? 👀 (I rewatched the mv when I saw your comment haha)
July 7th actually has special clip. But well it's fine if you don't see it, maybe it'll be too long for you. My top 2 in this album will be Wonderland and Trap. I like What, but the small thing when Siyeon takes main line but also background high note kinda makes me think Siyeon being overused, especially knowing all members especially SuA Yoohyeon can take the high note. The high note being wasted on live if it's full live bcs noone will take the high note. It's always be high note as recorded backtrack
Oooh let me check the special clip out (maybe on my own time hehe). Why do you think Siyeon is overused? Does she always have lines that have high notes? Or just this song specifically? Maybe singing it live really is hard, hope they can perform it the future ‘cause that would be so nice to hear 🥹
@@sassjastans overused because Siyeon given both main line and high note. It's fine if Siyeon always the one who takes high note, but it'll be better if the main line is different member so we can get both live
If I'm not mistaken (I could very well be), 'July 7th' is a reference to a Chinese myth. Of which I'm not sure of the details. Someone else can fill in that gap, I hope.
Yeah, I just saw a comment that explained it. In korea, it’s called a Chilseok day, their more traditional korean valentine’s day. Legend has it was two lovers separated by the edge of the universe 😭
July 7th arguably on purpose because of 7-7 and they're 7. Someone said 7th of July is Chuseok Day in Korea and the lore/legend behind Chuseok is connected to the song like LDR a.k.a long distance relationship. The hangeulized title actually yaksokhae uri, yaksok is promise, uri is we, us. Based on the context of the song it can be used for dreamcatcher with fans too, promise to meet up again
Milky way on the lyrics relating the lore behind Chuseok that the 2 sides actually separated by the edge of universe, analogue to long distance relationship, when they met they'll need long time to meet again. Thus can be used for fans-idols (in this case dreamcatcher) relationship too
Ahhhhh makes sense. The feeling of longing… Chilseok (based on what I saw online) is their traditional valentine’s day somehow.. so it’s really about lovers who are far apart. ngawww, sad.
I made a playlist of accurate DC lyric videos for new Insomnia! I watched each one to make sure the vocal parts are accurate and that the lyrics were close to accurate (since I don't speak Korean I can't be 100%). Here's the link, hope this is helpful! ^_^ th-cam.com/play/PLoAahkatNIT8kVxOqHNCvw6D2TyvU-KVH.html&feature=shared
Probably not a good idea to use RandomK when watching the lyric videos first to avoid MV distractions when RandomK spoils and distracts by including a crop of those MVs / special clips.
Thanks for checking out more Dreamcatcher!

What is 100% connected to the Nightmare series and it's lore. So is Piri and Breaking Out to finish it off.
Realllyyyy how so? I saw a comment about them losing and looking for Yoohyeon but where does this tie in with the lore? 🥲 I wanna knoooooow hihi 😂

subscribed! thank you for DC reactions. i think July 7th is kind of reggae style
Thanks for being here! ☺️ now that you mentioned it, I went back and listened and you’re right, it does feel a little reggae 😍
it would be so cool if you reacted to the dreamcatcher series being unfiltered idols from the insomnicsy channel❤❤❤❤
I shall I shall! Huehuehe
Imo you should watch RandomK for those songs that don't have any mv or special clips
Agreeee now I know haha will do that definitely ❤️
As I said before, pre-2019 releases you can choose lyric video from the (most) recent one.
