This is probably because 9/10 hosts with summons aren't doing a co-op playthrough with friends, but rather they suck and are summoning randos to compensate for their refusal to learn and develop better skills which would negate their reliance on co-op. Hosts and summons constantly do some of the dumbest thing conceivable to the point where you can tell if they've been carried the entire way through from just a short moment of contact.
I still remember the time I fought someone who brought this out and spent the entire match shield pumping and mistiming his retaliations, nice to see it being used properly.
The tree spear is exceptional at roll catching, i’d go so far as to say it’s the best roll catcher in the game. obviously you can monkey sprint poke people but the best combo with this thing is a simple RB -> Slightly Charged RT, if they’re smart enough to roll towards you, a fully charged RT will trigger a double attack which’ll hit like a semi-truck and provides little leniency with it’s dodge timing, as the second thrust in the move can get you after dodging the first.
Panic rolling is pretty common when you’re, well, panicked… …but after the second or third roll-catch, it should be pretty obvious that the next one is gonna kill you if you spam it again.
Yeah I agree. It's just a shame that you are probably dead by the second or third roll catch. Especially if your vit is underleveled like a lot of these gankers.

When I watch these I wonder how people made it that far into the game without knowing how to dodge, and then I realize they probably haven't soloed a single boss in the entire game.
There is nothing more satisfying than killing mages with Golden and Carian retaliation. They even see you have it and still spam. It's so SO good. It will never get old 🤣
Not sure why but the region I'm in is sweaty by comparison to those invasions. Half these guys just straight panicked rolled to death, I almost never encounter that. Awesome build, you'd probably hit about 50 absorption against players (if not more) with those buffs and a good damaging weapon that harasses well.
Love the Erdtree guardian but I think you should also incorporate some of that Tree Sentinel bling into your outfit, maybe the chestpiece or the helmet.
My favorite outfit is Tree Sentinal headpiece on the Radahn set. Although all the Leyndell equipment with Radahn's armor is also pretty fashionable. Lots of bright gold sets to mix and match!
All I hope for from dlc is a great shield that can parry but absorbs spells as FP. Either a flat value or make it FP over time. Would be a less offensive but valuable option vs mages with the right build.
Could you imagine if they had different parry/back stab animations if you were going to one shot the player? Like with a colossal weapon, instead of the double hit on the back you like hit them the on head with the end and they go down and then you slam it down onto their back or if you parry them you'd hold your weapon with two hands and hit them across the face like you're holding a baseball bat and you'd just watch them go flying back. It'd be cool if they did with all the weapons.
I just wish the Treespear could actually be infused. Its a weapon thats upgraded with normal smithing stones and a generic ash of war. The Claymans Harpoon can be infused just fine so why cant this one?
Because the thing hits like a truck already, it’s heavy attacks are devastating and aren’t much slower than it’s lights and it’s unique moveset is insane. As long as your opponent doesn’t dodge jump you should lose few fights in a 1v1 with this thing. (You can use weapon buffs on it btw, lightning makes this thing disgusting.)
If Queen Marika had married The Warden instead of Radagon, the Elden Ring would've never been shattered, Lyndell would've never fell and the Erd Tree would be as bright and beyond than the Sun.
Y'know the shield is amazing and all but watching the treespear rollcatch to the heat-death of the universe reminds me of how much I love the treespear. And how much it deserves a variant with a better ash of war or split damage type or something.
I love knight stuff like this personally. I played the whole game with the Fire Imbued Knight's Greatsword and cool armor I found on a merchant. This was fun to watch, thanks.

i tested a handful of spells and such with a friend to see what you could parry and theres some surprising ones in there like rannis moon and the bolt of gransax lightning bolt. some of them are just insanely tight windows due to ping difference

It wouldn't be a spartan look, it would be more of a Roman Legionaire/commander look. My favorite version is the Tree Sentinal Helm with the Radahn set otherwise. The more greek spartan look would probably include more of the Gladiator set, but probably with a different helm. Maybe duelist set and Malenia's helm, for a kind of Hermes look?
I run basically the same build, but I use Elden Stars to annoy people then switch to Wrath of Gold, and use a few buffs as well as various gold or holy weapons like Guardian Swordspear, Marika's Hammer, Golden Order Greatsword, Sacred Relic Sword, etc. I do use the Treespear as well tho. It's honestly one of my favorite builds that I have.
Hey oro I don't know how often you read comments but I was doing some build planning and just noticed that the Silurias tree has a 27 str 13 dex requirement and has similar root adornment too the erdtree great shield and it might help give this build way more cohesion since you wouldn't need the wasted dex for tree spear
God I always loved this build, although I'm shocked you still haven't applied a DIscus of Light spell to your arsenal, considering you can reflect them when they fly back at you! helps against those invasions where they don't cast magic at you

Some people I just do not understand. That phantom with Radahn’s helm spamming the blasphemous blade ash was fatrolling, and only had like 900 hp, AND HE WAS IN THE MOUNTAINTOPS!? I guess he allocated everything to mind. How ironic, because that’s fucking stupid.
Similarly, as a vet, I ONLY coop. Watching invaders try to merc me and my hosts with glass cannon builds is laughable, considering I spent a full 30 minutes with *each individual* enemy in DS1 to memorize their movesets and practice my parries. My MO hasn't changed. I love slow walking and rolling or jumping through every invader's attacks until I get within parrying range, and OHKO or THKO them with one riposte (and maybe a follow-up rollcatch) from my 50/30 +21 Heavy LSGS. The Roped Fetid Pots go HARD on death. Reddies gon learn TODAY.
I need ps plus to play online again and I have only done co-op. So I honestly didn't know bloody slash didn't cause bleed build up, or I just didn't notice when the knight that uses and drops the weapon art. And to anyone who says it's called a ash of war, I know, but I've played Dark Souls for years and it just rolls off the tongue better when I say weapon art. Because they're basically the same thing, other than we can switch them in and out of most weapons

The rollcatching in this was pretty crazy. Some people just start queueing up those rolls like it's an assembly line, seems they really can't help it.
That's why Halberds and Great Spears are so good in this game, bc the players just spam 2 buttons: "B/Cricle" and "L2/LT"
You'll be surprised for invasion how effective that is
