Inescapable frenzy is probably my favorite incantation. It’s very hard to land, but if you land it I’m pretty sure it’s a guaranteed one-shot. I’ve heard it can do like 14000 damage. I’d recommend using it once your enemies madness procs, since there’s a long animation. You can also use it against those people who hide behind the fingerprint shield.
There’s a infinite madness build now using the dragon communion seal and frenzy shot. By using the dragon seal to cast fresh shot the madness build up will scale off arcane. And with 35-40 arcane you can proc madness with one shot which lets u keep on hitting them with frezy shot and procing the madness. You literally can’t get out of it and you’re dead within 2-3 shots.
Landing that critical hit with that one spell feels so good. It really melts your opponents health(if they’re tarnished) so I’d recommend some practice to get the timing down to other frenzy bois out there
The Godslayer Greatsword that can be found in Caelid Divine Tower has Dex/Fth favored scaling as well(in case you missed that one) one of boss weapons is also quality faith weapon
This is the build I’ve been running for the past few days too much fun. A fully charged frenzy snipe will almost always proc madness so you can try to finish with a crossbow if you catch them off guard
Yes, infact, I did just encounter the Frenzy tower in PvE. And yes, it was the single worst area Ive found in 50 hours so far, and possibly my entire Soulsbourne experience lmao . Easily lost 20k souls more than once (I was killed by the npc invader about a dozen times, but finally brute forced him somehow at 5hp. finally raged and baited the rats at the bottom of the tower like 10 times. Ran up the ladder and "Rejection" casted all the summoners off the top of the tower to their deaths lmao.) approaching the tower went as follows: run toward near deffilade and get 3/4 frenzy. Wait till 0. Wait for eye to turn off and bait rats out with horse. Eye turns on in the process giving me 1/2 frenzy again. Health drops the entire time. Heal up. (Rats are cresting hill) one bites me and frenzys me, freezing me in place and cutting health. Roll away, heal. Rats stunlocck me and one hits me giving me half frenzy again. Eye turns on again in the middle of it all. Frenzied again, Frozen, 1/10th health. Rats are surrounding me again, stunlock me to death. When I somehow survived all that 1/5 of the time, I'd climb the ladder. Wait for frenzy to drop to 0. Climb final ladder, already at full frenzy by the top. Frozen. Summons stunlock me to death while also inflicting more frenzy. LAME.
I saw someone land, out of pure luck, the inescapable frenzy and it seems like it does a huge chunk of damage, potentially one-shots. Idk what their build was but they had no weapon so I think it was pure faith madness build
Oh they learned. I dunno when this was recorded but I rarely invaded a group in the 10-30 range today that had less than 700 hp. It was a nightmare trying to ever kill 3 people with that much hp while they were constantly healing. These might be cherry picked encounters.
Madness build is for sure thing I will try to use. It's just so cool making your enemies loosing their mind and then finishing them with something fatal
Would love to see chase use the bolt of gransax and the fortissax and lansseax spell, i can just imagine how panic would the invader to see a massive red lightning coming their way :)
i was having a real hard time getting into elden ring gameplay videos cause the open world and the horse confused me and everyone seemed to assume that we'd all watched the bajillion videos that were made even before the game came out, but the pvp just makes sense, i look forward to seeing you master every single little trick in the game
But how cool is this ! Yellow flames of insanity affecting not only the target but the wielder as well. Love it thematically and love to see it in game
Just a little tip for anyone struggling with that draconic tree sentinel in front of malekith, you can use that long range frenzy move to kill him slowly and the only thing he’ll be able to hit you with are easy to dodge lightning and fireball attacks
The Vyke's War spear is broken it can cause madness without touching you, even if you roll an attack that will put you in madness it'll still stun you and make it so you can't do anything for 3 seconds
Since the frenzied flame seal scales with Int and Faith, I've found it pairs well with Sword of NnF and howl of shabiri. Use a dagger to proc endure -> Howl of Shabiri -> NF stance. Most of the time people panic and they can't i-frame out of the fire plume.
The Leaden Hardtear (poise tear) and the Crimsonwhorl Bubbletear (converts damage received into hp) give you poise casting and healing, it works really well for melee casters especially if you have a long casting spell/incantation. Inescapable Frenzy is fast enough to grab people AFTER they're inflicted with madness and they have that period standing there holding their head.
Frenzy seems really fun. I've dabbled with it with the war spear. It's so crazy strong. I'm enjoying my lightning frost knight right now tho for pve. Its decent success in pvp too.
I had this idea to powerstance two upgraded vyke spears to stack the madness condition. To do this, you would need two accounts (or a really generous friend who'd give you their spear for free lol). With one account that has Vykes spear but doesn't need it (we'll call this Save A), summon a friend and drop the spear. Have them pick it up. Now load in Save B (the save where you want both spears). Go get the spear in Save B and then summon your friend and have them drop the weapon back for you to pick it up in Save B. Now you have both spear in one save and powerstancing, I believe, is better for a Dex build since holding a weapon with two hands scales off of your strength (correct me if I'm wrong)
Love proccing madness with my faith character! Not only do you get a free stun, but a lot of casters end up trying to empty cast, not realizing they lost a chunk of FP. Practically two stuns in one against certain playstyles.
Loving the game so far but it has a long way to go with “balance” I really hope they put their passion into the future patches and fixes for this game and not ignore it like past souls games that still need (fixing)
TIP: if you find that you build up your own madness too much, get the clarifying horn charm (and the +1 version if you can) to increase focus so you build up less
I feel like some of the more broken weapons like moonveil and night and flame sword aren't really broken if you look at how much more relevant they've made status effects
Watching you doing your invasions is so satisfying. I didn’t know how op that weapon truly is but then again anything you use tend to be op cause you’re built different lol. Still my favorite souls TH-camr/streamer.
It's insane to me how many builds you've already put out and how consistently you seemingly just beat the entire damn game at RL 60 or even lower to get good talismans. Wild
I originally started my faith build with the intent of using lightning spells, but the frenzy flame spells are way more fun and interesting. And this weapon is also really fun.
It doesn't affect them with maddnes but Ive beaten morgott, Godfrey, black blade kindred, and more with pure madness including Vykes spear Essentially running a frenzied banished knight commander ATM having a blast lol
You're missing the Howl of Shabriri, it's like the shriek that NPC invader does near the church of inhibitions. its a close ranger AOE that hits multiple times causing damage and madness build-up, a LOT of madness build up.
Frenzyflame Thrust is so good. It seems people are used to so few weapons having that much poise that it doesn't even cross their minds that they should avoid face-tanking.
Madness is broken right now. Each hit even if dodged will build all status effects but the final hit can be dodged so it’s balanced in a Jank sort of way. Madness however will proc no matter what, meaning you can go hitless against somebody using the spear and still suffer from madness. Definitely going to be changed.
One thing to note is that at high upgrade levels and closer to the 100-120 range, the Dragon Communion seal has lower Frenzy spell damage, but a higher overall Incant Scaling - and, most importantly, it's Arcane-scaling. For whatever reason, Arcane levels appear to contribute directly to Madness buildup from any source, including spells, resulting in Dragon Communion seals dealing about 10% less damage than the Frenzied Flame at the same Incant Scaling, requiring fewer total levels invested to reach that Incant Scaling, and dealing significantly more Madness status per hit. With the low(ish) Faith requirements on Vyke's spear and on the Frenzy spells in general, Dragon Communion seal is, level for level, overall better than the Frenzied Flame at doing anything but damage with Frenzy spells - and then you can fit the wide-area Dragon Communion spells in, like the rot breath spells, for extra versatility as needed or to help clean up or delay 3v1 invasion situations.
The only time I successfully pulled off Inescapable Frenzy was against a certain player entity boss near the end of the game. What was funny was that I used a Mimic Tear, and my Mimic did it as soon as the boss recovered.
Boss, you should definently try the Immolation/Erdtree Greatshield combo. The weaponskill on the Greatshield counters spells and shoots back a beam that scales with faith (I THINK). Immolation, (or its elden ring alternative), does constant fire damage, which procs the greatshield counter. So you constantly have a beam of high damaging counterspells active while immolation is active. Its actually crazy and i'd love to see how you'd use it cause, in my opibion, its insanely, and steangely, viable.
@@halcyon1644 realized i should had a spoiler tag or something Immolation im not actually sure about, since my build isnt actually focused on spells. But the Shield can be found by killing the Erdtree Sentinel duo in the Capital beneath the Erdtree. They overlook an Erdtree sapling in the main route. You gotra kill both to get the drop, i believe. Good idea is grabbing some throwing knives and aggroing them one at a time.
There's another madness spell if people don't know called Howl of Shabriri. It has a faith requirement off 33 though. Madness looks really fun in this game, find it much more enjoyable than playing with bleed personally.
They are gonna nerf all the cool stuff to shit, personaly i think they should just buff the normal stuff instead, if everybody is op in pvp- then nobody is op in pvp.. i dont wanna go back to ds3 combat.. invading wasnt close as fun when u have to hit them 100 times, cause they kept chugging estus- even tho u just hit them 3 times in a row for the 12th time.
14:53 oh boy~ people that utilize the mirrors, i do that too! once we get invaded i swap one of my trinkets with one of those. its neat to confuse invaders of "who's the real host?" or "Who's the real summon?"
Elden Ring is one of the few games I've been waiting for, but due to the fact that I live in Russia, I can't buy it. I hope this will all end soon and we will only fight in games.
I love the concept of burning some one until they loose their sanity so you can give them one final cleave to finish them off without a hassle. Sounds fun as hecc.
A man hit me a single time with that spear, and upon seeing the madness buildup, I don't think I have ever beaten and bagged someone with so much zeal in a souls game.
The best method of pulling off inescapable frenzy for me was to use spam frenzied blast a couple times at someone so that they think I'm just a spammer, and then when they start to close in on me, I switch to inescapable frenzy and cast that instead. But because they think I'm casting frenzied blast, they see it as an opportunity to rush me and come right into range. The windup animation for most of the frenzy spells are all really similar so they can never tell what I'm actually casting. Works best on heavy strength boys with slow weapons, but if you have decent poise you can get away with tanking usually at least 1 or maybe 2 hits. Inescapable frenzy is also always an instakill and extremely underrated.
Theres other really good frenzy spells like Unendurable Frenzy, and Shabriri's Howl. And if you lock yourself into the Lord of Frenzy ending, you do way more damage with frenzy magic and take way less build up for every attack you do. I recently took 3/4 of someone's health bar and made them reach madness with one burst shot in an invasion.
@@sayzin I dont have one, I just could tell an immediate difference after I locked into the chaos ending. Its noticeable. Although the Seal of the Frenzied Flame helps too.
Madness spells have been really useful for bosses in my run. They stagger them quite easy and you get a lot of hits in, because bosses are so big. Against fast ones its tricky though. But i beat all dragons with madness.
Madness is the bane of my existence! I was confused as crap when i was first hit with it! It just kept building up and I didn’t even know why I still don’t know why!
I have ton of fun invading with that spear and all the madness incantations. I even named my character "Mad Knight Toryg" to warn the host about what to expect.

(I was killed by the npc invader about a dozen times, but finally brute forced him somehow at 5hp. finally raged and baited the rats at the bottom of the tower like 10 times. Ran up the ladder and "Rejection" casted all the summoners off the top of the tower to their deaths lmao.)
approaching the tower went as follows: run toward near deffilade and get 3/4 frenzy.
LAME.
BE-GONE THOTS! Lol. They got what they deserved
Git gud
You can actually just kill the Eye that spread the madness by going there and killing the 4 priest on top of the tower ahah
You guys remember the eye of mensis?
@@AshenKing97 it was so satisfying
I saw someone land, out of pure luck, the inescapable frenzy and it seems like it does a huge chunk of damage, potentially one-shots. Idk what their build was but they had no weapon so I think it was pure faith madness build
Managed to deal exactly 1600 damage. Tested it on a friend. First time one shotted him, then we lvld up a lot it became survivable.
@@theblackbaron4119 mines does 2600+ damage
Damn, I'm glad that faith spells are finally coming in the spotlight. Madness build looks insane!
Madness spells andbuildup actually scales with arcane and they're much more effective with the dragon communion seal
@@adelynn3501 Arcane Madness: blood, dragon, and madness looks like the way to go for an Arcane build.
You know I just realized, new armor sets and weapons mean more cosplay potential!
The death animations and louder screams of frenzy make it so worth.
Its amazing how all the new players dont understand that you have to lvl up your vigor
Oh they learned. I dunno when this was recorded but I rarely invaded a group in the 10-30 range today that had less than 700 hp. It was a nightmare trying to ever kill 3 people with that much hp while they were constantly healing. These might be cherry picked encounters.
Nah, just learn to dodge.
Agreed ! I always met people with less than 1000 HP ! Even at level 120 I still met a few... 🤣
2 madness builds fighting sounds hilarious because everything madness related build it up on the user as well as the target
I'd imagine to use inescapable frenzy you want to inflict madness and then while they're stunned grab them with that attack.
It doesn’t work the madness when it proves gives grab poise and won’t connect
@@middleagepeasant2291 Bummer, really feels like a bad incantation then tbh... Would be a niche PvP incantation if you used it with Vykes spear
Blarb Blarb it isn’t useless very many times overly aggressive player run into my grasp and get their brains blown out the back of their head with it
Madness build is for sure thing I will try to use.
Vyke and Erdtree Greatshield are both obscenely strong, but I feel so dirty using them 😂
But how cool is this ! Yellow flames of insanity affecting not only the target but the wielder as well. Love it thematically and love to see it in game
Would be funny if 2 madness builds go against each other lol
Just a little tip for anyone struggling with that draconic tree sentinel in front of malekith, you can use that long range frenzy move to kill him slowly and the only thing he’ll be able to hit you with are easy to dodge lightning and fireball attacks
the crimson rot effect is the worst to deal with, madness can mess you up, but the rot will drain your hp so fast.
there are cures but most players ignore crafting lol
@@EihaMudo
THAT makes the build so effective is because nobody bothers to bring an antidote for it.
@@xxx_jim_the_reaper_xxx I started keeping them on me after a bad experience with 2 guys spamming rot breath.
Rot breath, and frenzy of madness with some ancient dragon lightning spells, and a mimic tear. Dunk on most bosses except for malenis so far
@@joshbryan2230 what stats do you use for that?
The sheer AOE and poise while using the weapon art from that weapon makes it terrifying
Or just tired of people using the same weapons?
@@name5293 hey they're the ones who invade me with their moonveils and their rivers of blood.
Hey chase, the crouching r1 is the same as the runnng r1. Might come in useful as it's quicker and easier to pull off in a melee.
What weapon are you talking about? Because that's not the case for most weapons, unless you mean rolling r1.
@@cheetoh3149 I did, in fact, mean rolling r1 and didn't notice I'd used entirely the wrong word...
That dude with the greatsword and claw wasnt too shabby lmao
When that dude just starts spinning his staff and u where ..what? I couldn’t stop laughing 😂
That was awesome! I’ve been bleed building it up. But honestly, I think I’m ready to switch to madness!
I love it, you're basically playing as a Soul Eater villain.
Final Boss
I feel like some of the more broken weapons like moonveil and night and flame sword aren't really broken if you look at how much more relevant they've made status effects
Watching you doing your invasions is so satisfying. I didn’t know how op that weapon truly is but then again anything you use tend to be op cause you’re built different lol. Still my favorite souls TH-camr/streamer.
Weapon is broken even when u miss still builds up madness😂
that first snipe on Raoh tho lmaoooo. poor guy never saw it coming and thought it was gonna be a close range spell
I've used the basic finger seal because of how much swapping I'm doing lol. Faith really does have some fun options this go around!!
Guard counter with it you won’t regret it
Really loving this spear. It's a shame bosses can't be affected by madness, it makes this weapon unusually ethical in PvE.
They get staggered by it though. I used madness to beat all the dragons
@@winterh46334 They probably just got staggered normally though. The madness effect says in a tooltip that it only affects the tarnished.
It doesn't affect them with maddnes but Ive beaten morgott, Godfrey, black blade kindred, and more with pure madness including Vykes spear
Essentially running a frenzied banished knight commander ATM having a blast lol
Frenzied flame staggers unbelievably fast on big bosses so it's nice for that damage on the spear is hitting pretty nice as well
@@dustinschule5985 I have aswell, it's just not as cool to never get use of the frenzy
I love going back and seeing these early videos. No one leveling vigor, everyone spamming moonveil, nobody knowing about frenzied burst.. 💖
Love the Veteran wrecking the hell out of casuals and new players. Just giving them sheer panic not trying to die.
You're missing the Howl of Shabriri, it's like the shriek that NPC invader does near the church of inhibitions. its a close ranger AOE that hits multiple times causing damage and madness build-up, a LOT of madness build up.
That requires some heavy stat placement though.
I love the new outro. Actually, I just love the vid in general. Amazing stuff, Chase. Keep up the great work! And the very entertaining streams
The music while invading adds so much
Gotta love how every mage starts spamming moonveil it’s like the Elden Ring version of fallen knight set
Definitely going to be changed.
every status effect weapon does that
@@SuperduperGamer1 Except as he explained you can dodge the status proc if it happens during your I-frames but not madness.
@@Zamusss No its every status ive have gotten bled during my i frames
Just so I avoid spoilers I'm not gonna watch much of the video, but I have been looking forward to using all the madness weapons/incantations
I don't mind minor spoilers for that typa thing, where do I get the greatshield and immolation?
@@halcyon1644 realized i should had a spoiler tag or something
Immolation im not actually sure about, since my build isnt actually focused on spells.
@@halcyon1644 the Immolation equivalent is called Fire's Deadly Sin and can be found at Windmill Heights Southeast Overlook

There's another madness spell if people don't know called Howl of Shabriri. It has a faith requirement off 33 though. Madness looks really fun in this game, find it much more enjoyable than playing with bleed personally.
There are 5 madness incantations that I know of, and 2 of them are pretty amazing. I'm making a madness build myself.
@@TheSm1thers Yeah Madness is super fun, shame it doesn't have too much effect on pve for the most part, or some more weapon variety.
Madness is a pretty broken especially on a melee that builds up madness
“The madness continues… get yo ass back here” lol 😂 I’m dead
The frenzy grab is an instant kill, its most useful to use when people try to punish your spell casting/incantations
I just noticed the weapon art sets the ground a'flame in a three pronged pattern, like it's a sigil of the Three Fingers. neat little touch.
Fingerprint shield causes madness buildup 👍
“Good fight good fight “ after effortlessly slaughtering a whole group of players 😂😂 gotta love the good sportsmanship
A Chase Elden Ring build showcase? What a time to be alive.
This spear is just the embodiment of "put some respeck on my name"
This is not madness THIS IS SPARTA
Love your vids, especially the longer invasions/livestream vids. Thx for the content!
To my knowledge, focus is the stat that negates madness and there are at least two talisman which increase focus
Becoming the Lord of Frenzy increases your damage and reduces buildup? Where's the source on that information because that's pretty cool
@@sayzin I dont have one, I just could tell an immediate difference after I locked into the chaos ending. Its noticeable. Although the Seal of the Frenzied Flame helps too.
@@redmenace1570 I locked into that ending last night so I guess I'll have to respec and try it out
Fun fact: madness builds even when u don't directly hit (like frostbite), making the heavy running attack soooo good for rollcatches.
Madness seems specifically made for npc invasions or pvp. It has little to no effect on most bosses and baddies but it'll MELT npc invaders
Madness spells have been really useful for bosses in my run. They stagger them quite easy and you get a lot of hits in, because bosses are so big. Against fast ones its tricky though. But i beat all dragons with madness.
Dude the npc invasion in the frenzy village hit me with Superman laser eye beams
Madness is the bane of my existence! I was confused as crap when i was first hit with it! It just kept building up and I didn’t even know why I still don’t know why!
4:42 A fitting reaction of dying to madness, lol.
Damn faith has been done right in this game. I like they brought back the frenzy stat from Bloodborne and packaged in flame and lightning.
I have ton of fun invading with that spear and all the madness incantations. I even named my character "Mad Knight Toryg" to warn the host about what to expect.
Madness buildup strength is determined by the defender’s Mind stat (or focus more specifically) for those wondering why it procs differently on different pvp players
