From what I noticed, Matsui is not a very aggressive fighter. But the thing is, he knows exactly when to find the right moment to attack, and where to attack. Seems like he is very experienced and knows what he is doing.
@@kermit1211If you knock him out, either with a kick to the head or with a punch or kick to the body, it’s an ippon and you win. If you sweep him and you punch him in the ground (almost simultaneously, if you punch him like two seconds late it won’t count) or kick him hard on the head and he doesn’t block it and he clearly reacted like the kick was very hard but you don’t knock him out, it’s a waza ari (half point) and you need two waza ari to win. And if no one makes any ippon or any wazari, the referees on the corners and the central referee will decide who won or if it’s a draw by moving the flags, if it’s a draw the fight will continue for two minutes.
Technically speaking he was only good in knocking his opponents first few seconds in this fight in particular I feel you are missin the point andy wasn’t fighting as well as his opponent was in fact every time they fought he kept stepping back and his opponent could easily guess he’s moves and reason I feel the fight was won fair
You are either blind or stupid. Shokei Matsui kancho kept moving in Andy, Hug was shoved back whole fight. And his every kick attempt was countered. Not to speak how many knees he took. Not to speak he hit man in the nuts.

Two great Kyokushin legends! Maximum respect!

Its because he is direct student from mas oyama
Andy Hug practically fought a THIRD of the entire Japanese team in this tournament..To include Ademir Acosta!

Always a difficult decision. Could've been a draw!
Shokei puede que sea de los mejores karatekas y peleadores por extensión que yo haya visto...un fenómeno
@@mandingincito si ademas es muy bonito como pelea simple natura mucho control de sus patadas pelea muy inteligente
Does anyone know their weights at this match?
Its clear that Matsui win here. You must be blind if you think different
can you explain how he won? Sorry, I don't really understand the Kumite rules in Kyokushin that much

Who won?
Andy had not yet entered his prime years
Neither does Shokei Matsui.
Two legend count time in seconds !!

Those interruptions are annoying.
Not a fan of this karate but they are certainly the best of them
