    hi Dan, great locations, when you're up Scotland next, Found a Beaver lodge in Dunkeld, park up in village,walk across the bridge walking to A9, at the end off bridge go down to river bank, walk along river you will see beaver activity, on other side is the lodge, keep walking to A9 and under main bridge there's a wooden bridge that takes you across the river, back track on other side big borders so be careful and lodge is on edge of river, when you have found lodge , you will see some great vantage points on other side, plenty of activity,you can see were they were gathering food and taking it to the lodge, with just finding lodge only had day left, sat there till about 10pm, you could see how busy they are, may do 2 weeks on the way home from Dolphins Forfrose, all the best keep it up🤞👍

    I would love to spend some time on this site. I know we all shy away from flash photography, but this looks like a perfect place for a couple of triggered flash units tied to surrounding verticle objects (trees). It is not that hard to master in your own back yard and then save the settings on your camera. Take plenty of batteries and experiment before paying to hire a hide.

      I know exactly what you mean, I use quite a few camera traps with flash setups. This would be a good setup for that 👍🏻

      Thanks for your comment Dale, I had a D500 prior to the Z9 and still rate it as one of the best wildlife cameras ever. With its solid and reliable build quality, it’s fantastic autofocus and the rapid fire fps it’s a stunning camera 👍🏻

    Hi Dan, Another great video! Excellent content as usual and superb images of a cute little bird. This Scottish trip has been a real jem, going to plan a trip myself up North, its been a while since we have been up to Scotland. One question, I saw your ISO was creeping up quite high at times, do you manually set your ISO or are you on Auto ISO ?

    • @danwillis_photography
      @danwillis_photography  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Cheers Chris I appreciate your support mate.
      I generally use auto ISO as I find it matches the changing lighting, however I go manual in some instances such as the backlit shots 👍🏻

    Great images.
    Was that a washing line prop with the feeder on?

    • @danwillis_photography
      @danwillis_photography  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Cheers Craig. The blue pole was what Neil McIntyre provides, he’s got the birds used to following it for food which means you can place it near any perch. A bit of an odd method but very effective 👍🏻

  • @joncothranphotography9375

    Those are beautiful birds! Just a quick question: Are those images eligible for entry with competitions there with them being baited? Most of the competitions that I am seeing here in the States. I'm not opposed to the practice. It seems that they benefit by the extra feed while you benefit by the images. Thanks!

    • @danwillis_photography
      @danwillis_photography  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It is okay to use baits for subjects as long as you declare this on entry. Even Bird Photographer of the Year has shots that are baited. This year’s competition has an image from Gary Jones of an interaction between a Golden Eagle and a Jay which was baited to the hide.
      UK club photography allows baited shots as long as the bait is not live. This would include many of the Kingfisher shots where small live fish are used. I personally have not used any live bait and don’t agree with it but that is my own personal stance and everyone is different.
