    To be honest, I think the reason that the Oriental Land Company succeeds in making great attractions is that they actually care on what properties will the fandom enjoy and can earn the most money in theming, while in the US they just make stuff without actually knowing if it could be popular or change stuff without knowing if it could be popular, which in a way can only be successful with fandom popularity and fandom popularity will bring more people in and will give them lots of money. Because anybody who likes or dislike something is a true fan.

      Tokyo has a problem with casting people of color in meet in greets if the Tiana replacement happened in Tokyo most of them wouldn’t be interested just because Tiana in general isn’t something the Japanese are used to so it can be colorist at times

      They don’t have a large black population that has reason to be offended by the current ride. They also don’t connect with the problems of the ride/movie. For them it is a fun ride with critters as Tom said. So there really isn’t a need to change it. Here there was a need to change it. A large portion of our population found that ride problematic and they needed more representation at the parks. Neither applies in Tokyo.

    i do think that the splash mountain retheme in tokyo will be based on the country bears because not only is splash mountain at tokyo disneyland right across the street from the country bear theater, but also, before they chose to theme the mountain off of song of the south, imagineers originally pitched the country bears way back in 1983 as the theme of the ride before that obviously get rejected. and also, the country bears are still extremely popular in japan so it would be a perfect fit for that park

    • @KnuckleDude24
      @KnuckleDude24 4 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา +5

      Honestly, A Country Bears theme would be the best case scenario if they wanted to keep around the land theme.
      Maybe with an original story where the Bears spend a fun country trip down the wilderness, maybe they could even take advantage of using "The Great Outdoors" song as the core theme to the ride.

    Well this sucks...
    At the very least, I know OLC takes great care in their attractions so whatever they replace it with will be great.
    R.I.P. Br'er Rabbit. He had a good run. Good for him.
    But dang... for a company who talks a lot about respecting the past and their history, they sure are spitting in the face of all the talented people who worked on the movie and attraction. Some of which were very progressive moments for the film. And the attraction had its fair share of innovations. They are important pieces of media that we can all learn from and certainly Splash Mountain in particular brought lots of joy into people's lives. To pretend they didn't exist just feels all kinds of scummy.
    You can close the ride, but I just beg people to stop running away from the past like it's some plague. It's just a movie. And that movie meant something to the people who made it happen. And the same is to be said about Splash and those who created and rode it.

    My very first job was at Rainforest Café. It wasn’t the one at Disney Springs however. Like mentioned, I worked part time, and did not receive any benefits such as health insurance, paid sick time, or paid vacation time. On top of that, I was a minor still in high school, would work past midnight, have multiple “on call” days scheduled where I could not have a social life, because I needed to be available to work that day if they needed me to, and I NEVER received breaks, ever.
    Being my first job, and a kid, I did not know my rights. I just assumed breaks were for smokers. I did receive the required half hour lunch break if I was scheduled over six hours. This tended to happen after the food court closed, so what could I eat? I don’t have time to order anything from the restaurant, and even with the discount, it would cost me several hours of work to pay for the meal.

    I think Tokyo Disney should either be left alone or a unique ride in its place that the Japanese people will love. I don’t think they should shove a franchise down their throat that they don’t connect with. It is just asking for disappointment. They don’t understand the backstory nor do they have a large black population, that is offended by its presence. Here it makes complete sense to replace it. It’s an issue here. It’s not an issue there. Disney just sees it as negative idea because of the American viewpoint. So I don’t see an issue with them keeping it and I was always fine with them getting rid of the 2 in the US. I understand why we needed ours replaced and I supported that decision completely. I just don’t think it is an issue in Tokyo.

      Yeah, but guests in the Disney Bubble don’t seem to know that, which is why that one guy tried to sue Disney after his wife died from eating there. And of course, rather than say “That’s not us, that’s Ragland Road,” Disney was like, “you can’t sue us because of some random clause you agreed to in a streaming platform trial.” Seems kind of odd thing to use as defense if that’s not Disney.

    I'm confused by the phrase "subcontractors" and "third-party contractors" used in the labor discussion. Aren't these businesses "tenants" (of the Disney owned shopping center) and the employees at these businesses are employed by those tenants? Isn't this the same as at a Simon, Brookfield, or Westfield mall? Are these mall owners held responsible for the employee benefits at Game Stop or Starbucks, etc.?
    Disney should definitely have signs up in Disney Springs which clarifies that the tenants are independent businesses that are not owned or operated by the Disney company. Disney could try to insert employee benefit requirements into their lease agreements but then Starbucks employees at Disney Springs would have different benefits than Starbucks employees a mile away, and that's probably not allowed legally.

    Even though the original story Bambi takes place in Europe the animators were actually inspired by many American locations and that’s what they would draw I can really only see Bambi becoming a fit replacement there especially since Bambi has been a big Japanese influence it would be crazy if the final splash is based on escaping the forest fire from the movie I am sad because I feel like the only reason Disney wouldn’t do this is for some of the scenes that are essential to the Bambi story but would be to violent especially now for Disney to put in
