Spawning winter steelhead and assessing broodstock at Alsea Hatchery

More wild broodstock programs have changed the way hatcheries operate, as the method requires a lot more hands-on work and careful handling of these fish. For #SteelheadWeek, we visited Alsea Hatchery, which produces mostly trout and a lot of steelhead over the course of a year. Sr. hatchery tech Eric Hammonds walks us through a typical winter day at the hatchery.
