My WoL has certainly killed. My head canon says that's it's always a regrettable outcome for my little guy, but if forced to choose between [Enemy] and [Allies/Innocents in the crossfire], then he's gonna choose the most efficient course of action that results in the greatest good for the most people...

Yes. when people are trying to kill us. Nothing wrong with that. Killing is sometimes neccessary to protect. Heroes sometimes still kill people, not because they want to but because they have to.

    It's a great question.

With the new waves of players joining, straight up having the screenshot of H's death popping up without a spoiler warning, isn't very fair. Anyone that's simply observant, can figure it out. Continuing on, yeah, all of this video needs a spoiler warning at the start.

Most of the videos on my channel openly discuss lore from pre-ShB, but you're definitely right. With the new influx of players, I should've had a spoiler warning. I've changed the title to reflect that!

I like you lore content. The story is so massive it's easy to get confused about some of the lore. "I'm the wol...wait now I'm wod, but some people keep calling me wol..." 😅

Well it exploded too. that may be a part of it. but I have no doubt we killed several groups of soldiers at least ourselves.

The DRK quests and SB definitely highlights how the WoL has killed before, whether or not they are paragons of justice in ylur headcanons or not. DRK has literally the WoL kill some Qiqirn in cold blood, with the bloodstains still on them and their armor and the items they retrieved. I doubt that those guys were spared.
Seeing as you are also in a battlefield lf people out to kill you in the Ghimlyt Dark of SB, I also think we are in a position where even if we are stronger than literally everything in that dungeon, it's going to be "kill or be killed", although some of the enemies you leave might not all be killed of course.
Looking at this and the video's examples of important characters dying, we can surmise that your character _does_ kill regardless of what you think, but it's only if they're obligated to do so through circumstances( if you want them to be a merciful person regardless).

If you watched the video, I did mention that, yes, definitively, the canon WoL does and is willing to kill. That's definitely the stance the game wants to take and is the canonical answer to this question. Also this was before Endwalker which has a number of Garleans call you out for being basically an Eorzean war hero who has killed many soldiers/people close to them, so naturally those were not taken into consideration, even though the ultimate conclusion is still the same.
My point about bringing up headcanons is simply saying that, regardless of what the game says, if you want your personal WoL to have a different stance than what is presented by the game, I'm not going to say you can't. Also in general I like to avoid bringing up events that take place in job quests since people can easily go the entire game never experiencing them.

I'm fairly certain the echo does prevent dying either by wipes turning out to being you experiencing the future or because Hydaelyn's blessing making your mind and soul unable to die, so you can always be raised back. The latter has canonically happened to Krile and Ysayle

I did mention in my previous video(s) about how the Warrior of Light uses the Echo that it's basically a way for our WoL to experience potential future outcomes until we get it "right", but I wouldn't count these as actual deaths since they don't actually occur. Furthermore, the second thing you mentioned is never stated anywhere in canon, and never happens to either Krile or Ysale. Krile was "rescued" by Hydaelyn when the rest of the Students of Baldesion were lost with the Isle of Val, but the nature of this rescue was never explored in canon, and there is no indication that Hydaelyn didn't just shield Krile like she did the WoL from the Ultima spell, rather than "resurrect" her. Furthermore, Ysale was never raised back. The only time she reappears after her death is when her spirit, clearly still dead, reappears to help you and Alphinaud save Estinien. Considering Haurchefant, a person without the Echo, also appears, Ysale appearing there cannot be attributed to the Echo at all.

I would not read too deeply into this at the end of the day game mechanics sometimes are best left as game mechanics.

In many scenes both in main and in some side content, they talk about the killing nature of the Warrior of Light. Does it kills all the soldiers on the way is probably your choice, but it kills and that's that. The game is just keeping the gore out of it because of the age rating, especially in Japan.
