Across Montana there are quite a few farms running Big Bud tractors still and usually after they trade them off, the beasts end up back in Havre at Big Equipment(basically the original manufacture of Big Buds) for upgrades and new paint and then resold. They are old machines but built like tanks and the parts were all common from road trucks to mining equipment so upkeep is relatively good without excessive parts cost. We are actually in the process of upgrading one right now. Video soon!
Thanks a bunch Torben! I appreciate it greatly, I didn't expect it to turn out as well as it did:) I am glad you enjoyed it and also really cool you have farm ties, it is a good life!
Thank you Canvids, It is amazing how farming has changed and is changing. My grandpa past away in 1998 and he would still be blown away at what has changed.
Continued... And it seems to rain at the right times. We sadly had a nasty hail storm come through and it destroyed at least a fifth of our crops as well as heavily damaged the rest. It is surprisingly still growing some heads and so we will still have a decent harvest. Hope your crops continue to grow and that your harvest is strong! Farming here has its ups and downs and there have been years where it is hard, but mostly it is a good prosperous life. God bless
Watkins hey thanks Tim, hopefully the good Lord will give us many years to come. As for the kids, I'm working on the married part but hopefully in the near future little ones will be running around:)
Buds are great tractors! But you are right, there were some great tractors built over the years. We've never farmed with a Versatile but several farmers in the area run them and I know are very satisfied. This year I'll upload some great footage of our Buds.
We've never used a grain buggy and mainly because our farm wasn't big enough but we've grown substantially so maybe some day here we'll get one. It is amazing how smoothly the harvest operation works with trucks pulling grain trailers. It is hard on the trucks bouncing around the fields but with a brandt grain deck and a 13 inch auger, hopper trailers work great!
Welker Farms: Congratulations on your 100 years of family farm! Man I like your style and the videos are superb. Good Luck in the future,be safe, and keep videos coming, thanks.
Thank you Anthony! Boys love tractors! Happy to hear you farm and breed horses. We used to have a few but its been some time since we raised them. Tractors come in all sizes and I've actually seen a few farms in Australia that run Big Buds! Take care!
New subscriber from North Carolina. My grandfather, and his father before him, farmed and had cattle in central Michigan. I’ve been an airline pilot for 30 years with no farming connections. Started watching your channel when I stumbled upon the restoration of the International truck. I’ve known about Big Buds for many years so it’s great to see them in action on your farm! God Bless you and your family!
I farm in KY and I've been watching farm videos for several years and have never enjoyed one as much as this. This is outstanding! I appreciate all of the effort that you put into it. Thank you
We own 3 different generations of Big Bud tractors but I believe you are thinking of the Big Bud 747 which is owned by the Williamson Brothers near Big Sandy, Mt. That thing is a monster!
I wish that every person in America could see this video. If they eat, it should be a must see. I have watched this video, in awe, several times. Growing up on an east Texas cattle farm of just over 800 acres and everything that came with it is minuscule when compared to what you people do, even though we both contribute, I am made to understand just how tiny our operation is. God Bless America and the American Farmer. Thanks for allowing the privilege of viewing such a beautiful operation....(LOL. I even then I know there are constant issues that confront all farmers...no matter the size.) God Bless
Thanks Enrico! Every farm is different and it takes a lot of land where I live to produce enough grain to make a living:) But the video does make it seem like forever:)
Thanks gopher! All thanks to a super magnet and gopro adhesive pad. Speaking of gopher my friend stuck 3 yesterday with his bow...only a matter of time and they'll be ripe for the shooting!
You got it! I don't know if I'll ever meet anyone who consume our grain since it goes overseas but the thought of just how many loafs of bread that can be made from just our crop is amazing!
It is a KT-525 series 3 Big Bud. They went to a newer frame design and got rid of the eaton fuller transmission and replaced it with a twin disc power shift. They are tough transmissions but extremely expensive to work on (ours was rebuilt a few years ago for $40,000). If we treat it right, it should last the life of the rig. That Bud's pump is also turned up to 600 hp so it snorts a little when pulling...as well as sucks tank loads of diesel lol. Pretty sweet to see them in Carolina! Get a bud!
Very cool! Love to see a fellow Montana farmer! Best state in the union! Harvest is always fun to film but we never seem to find the time to edit and put together quality videos. Gopro and simple software like PowerDirector 11 allowed for this video to be done. I really like gopro cameras and wish I had the 3rd gen when I did this filming like I do now. They have some bugs and poor battery life but the wifi wireless controls and an android or ios device make filming so much easier! Best of luck!
Awesome vid!!! I have always found the Big Bud tractors awe inspiring, especially the Big Bud 747.!!! Glad too see that you are still going strong after 100 years.!!!!! Keep the tradition alive.!!
Thank you xKmotx! Cyberlink posted about it? That is really cool, I have used only a handful of video editing software and since my old students copy of vegas studio was ancient I wanted a newer software capable of utilizing 64 bit and multiple cores without killing my wallet. Its been running great so far. I'm more so a beginning farmer as in reality my dad is the farmer and my brother and I are slowly learning the ways of the farm. I have done very little filming but I will post more in time!
Thanks Saskcch! I do agree that the sounds of cummins engines are heavenly, the way my video includes slowmotion, high speed, timelapse, and regular 30 fps, audio from the actual recording would not fit and would sound out of place. I'll have future videos with up close features and operations of our buds so no worries, you'll get your kt-1150 and n-14 awesomeness!
I used the suction cup for a few shots but what worked the best was a small 35lb neodymium magnet and one of the standard adhesive pads. I should put a picture of it up. I used it while filming those shots and also with current projects and it still works like a charm. Obviously only works on metal surfaces:)
Also on a side note, if you were interested in our 7700 we are thinking of selling it. Its the last year they made the 7700 with lots of repairs and upgrades including a lengthened unloading auger. There is work that needs to be done though to the combine and header.
Enjoyed your video, alot of big equipment and alot of hard work. Your family earns every penny they get. It is good to see the old farms still putting out. You still have one more thing to do before you retire, have plenty of children so they can continue to run the farm.

Next time I decide to make some home made bread like my dad did, I'll be blessing all of you. Thanks
Thank you for your kind words. It is a great life but yes very dangerous and without a healthy fear of equipment, fatal accidents can happen. Gotta stay alert and smart! Take care!
I'm a retired farmer from NY. 419 acres. Probably a corner of one of your fields. Your video would be great to show to city school age kids. Certainly would keep their attention.
There are these kids in my school ( age: 13) and they think they us farmers dont feed the people.. they said that they will just go to the grocrie store to buy some and farmers are useless.. but i think the total opposite! Thank A Farmer!
Congrats on the now over 100 yrs of the family farm. Liked the video compilation and all the different shots. Gives us non farmers an idea of what you do. May God bless your family with many more years of prosperous farming.
Hey I asked my friend who knows about this stuff and his girlfriend went to Europe for a few months traveling from farm to farm through this program. I'll post the link below and you can see what you think. We had a kid from Germany come by for a few days who was part of the program. It seems to be well organized and very educational. Oh man rain can rarely be a bad thing around here but like you said, there is a limit to too much. We are doing well here, crops around are in excellent condition
I am assuming you are asking about the Bug Buds, the two running in the video use KT-1150 cummins. One rated at 450hp and another at 600hp. The 450 is getting weak as it has near 9,000 hours with no overhaul so we are going to swap that old kt with a n-14 celect plus red top soon.
Thanks for watching! It's a few years old now but still fun to see. If you haven't seen Welker Farms 2016 - Full Version yet, look it up. You'll like it too:)
I’m a big farmer with 11,000 acres of corn soybeans and tobacco in Kentucky. I love your videos your farm is awesome looks exactly like ours with the big buds and the semis. Thanks for the content keep up the work and enjoy the farming
Nick just a excellent well put together video lots of time and editing went in to your work. You picked the right music as well. As a kid back in the 40's and 50's I did farming. Never get tired of watching all the new machines these days. My Grandad would flip in his grave if he could see what it is like now.
Amongst all videos around, one of the best i have seen so far. A lot off trial and error i guess but a class 1 result, also for non-farmers. I thank you for the video and wish you another 100 years for sure, god bless, be well.
Thant is very nice of you! I really appreciate it. I have other projects in the works but I've had a few crazy years lately and its set back my filming and editing. But I do plan on doing another like this one someday.
Our land doesn't get nearly as much rain and other farm land and our ground isn't very fertile so it takes thousands of acres to make a good living. To farm thousands of acres with just a few men takes huge machines and thankfully they have engineered them!
I know my grandpa felt the same way and I sit back and try to imagine what will be in 30 years, it is just amazing what they come up with. Farming is always evolving.
Thanks Chase, some won't spend all 12 minutes watching and I'd have made it shorter but there were just too many good shots I couldn't edit them all out!
Thanks Rush, though I am a bit disturbed you are checking out my legs through pants lol. You are correct though, a number of years I held off legs fearing I had a knee injury, turns out I didn't, so back to legs again lol.
I would love to come out and see you all. What an amazing video and job you all do. Thank you for sharing this video, it really is amazing to see what you go threw and some people out there don't appreciate it. Farming to me is not a job. Why would I say that you may be thinking. If you get paid is it not a job? Yes and no. If you love and enjoy what you do then no matter what the money is. I ain't going to lie i have always wanted to farm and the closest thing I can get to it is watching this, I don't live in a city I actually live in a small town in Tennessee, nothing but hills where I live but maybe one day I can find me something start off small and grow. I just hope people understand with out farmers we wouldn't eat, people can disagree all they want but this world runs off of farmers
Thanks! It sure can be bumpy! Some of our fields are actually pretty smooth and the trucks hardly bounce at all but we do have some that shake just about every bolt lose haha!
Those 7700's were good running machines. My family farmed with them for years. We upgraded last year to 2588's so we'll see if they are a big upgrade from 2188's. How is your crops looking? We had a nasty hail set us back big time in June and this last Monday we were hailed again on some of our northern stuff. Overall we probably have a 40% loss on our initial potential.
Awesome video with fantastic editing and soundtrack. The 24 down votes must be from Hollywood people envious of your skills. Nothing like watching heavy machinery doing its thing. God Bless.
Thanks Arminius:) Ha who knows, there are some who think this stuff is very uninteresting and or like you said are from Hollywood lol Appreciate the kind words:)
Great Filmography, you have talent putting together a short film. That farming video is the best I've seen. Absolutely loved it. Those BigBuds were awesome. I loved the harvest, watching the wheat (guessing wheat) go into the header! Nice!
Yup but as a matter of fact the Williams do not till any more with the 747 since they came up with no till farming and now they rent the tractor to a museum in Iowa if im correct. So if ya have the money for it, you are half way there lol
Fantastic vid. I've done a little of this myself so I can appreciate how much effort was put in on this video. Top job and thanks from Qld, Australia!!
Your video is freaking awesome man! I love the Big Bud tractors and harvest time shots you got with the Go Pros. You have really awesome choice in music too love it!!!!
Just to let you know I built the aircart(flexicoil)and the new holland pull type sprayer up in Saskatoon Saskatchewan Canada. We are currently building a new series of aircarts.Big Bud has the power to pull the big aircart 950 bushel.
+Cory Coulter Thanks for the information Cory. That is pretty awesome you got to build those. 950 bushel is huge! We run a 3850 and a 4350 57ft. The 525 pulls it around like nothing is behind you. Maybe some day we'll upgrade to the 950! I wonder how soil compaction is with that large of cart?
Here in 2019. Glad to be part of the 300k.👍

We farm just outside Shelby. That is awesome your farm has been in operation since 1909! I hope it is blessed with another 100 years!
I come back every year to watch this video. Its a masterpiece. Also 2012 is 12 years ago now. Time flies.
Thank you Canvids, It is amazing how farming has changed and is changing. My grandpa past away in 1998 and he would still be blown away at what has changed.
Thank you JC! The harvest part turned out better than I could have imagined. And you are correct! We farm wheat and lots of it.

Looks like Nick was one of the first farmers to get all the cool go pro shots in farming!
Welker Farms: Congratulations on your 100 years of family farm! Man I like your style and the videos are superb. Good Luck in the future,be safe, and keep videos coming, thanks.
I like your videos brother we down south Louisiana we formed a lot of rice and crawfish state of soybeans now
Thank you Anthony! Boys love tractors! Happy to hear you farm and breed horses. We used to have a few but its been some time since we raised them. Tractors come in all sizes and I've actually seen a few farms in Australia that run Big Buds! Take care!

So glad you are able to join us! International and big buds are great machines!
I love it! The more I watch farming videos, the more I love the lifestyle. You guys keep this country fed. Thank you. :)
Thanks JEF!
8 years later this is still dang good video.
Grew up farming, Dad sold out in 1980, worked for my uncle then, but sure miss it nowadays, got to see Big Bud at the Farm Progress Show, what a show,
Hey thanks quick! Buds are awesome machines and we hope to run them for many years to come! The 747 is a monster!
Thanks Kristian! Greetings from the USA! We farm somewhere around 10,000 acres total but crop rotate so more like 5,000 a year.
I farm in KY and I've been watching farm videos for several years and have never enjoyed one as much as this. This is outstanding! I appreciate all of the effort that you put into it. Thank you

wooow, I'm from Europe and I am always impressed every time I see an american farming video! You've got infinite fields!! Good video :)

Keep on feeding the world almost for the next century. A very nice and impressive job; thank you Sir.

Very kind words Amue! Thank you!
Thanks mate. Great to see farming across the globe!
l can watch all your videos all day long brings back a lot of good times me and my dad had...
Glad you enjoy them! Good memories are always welcome, especially with family.
Wow. So much has changed!
Ya I have watched this video so many times just looking how much they have progressed in 8 years.
Thank you xKmotx! Cyberlink posted about it? Thanks Mini!
Thanks Truck!
Welker Farms Inc. y'all are awesome. Thanks for all ur hard work and dedication!
+Jack Fasga Thank you! We take pride in the farm and desire it to succeed wherever possible.
I used the suction cup for a few shots but what worked the best was a small 35lb neodymium magnet and one of the standard adhesive pads. I should put a picture of it up. I used it while filming those shots and also with current projects and it still works like a charm. Obviously only works on metal surfaces:)
Thanks Eixe! Austria! wow! I have very distant family connections to Austria.
Also on a side note, if you were interested in our 7700 we are thinking of selling it. Its the last year they made the 7700 with lots of repairs and upgrades including a lengthened unloading auger. There is work that needs to be done though to the combine and header.
Thanks Hawk! I am glad you appreciate it!
Thanks Ram! Appreciate it!
Enjoyed your video, alot of big equipment and alot of hard work. Your family earns every penny they get. It is good to see the old farms still putting out. You still have one more thing to do before you retire, have plenty of children so they can continue to run the farm.
Masters of the prairie. knights of the western skies. This is totally cool. We in the cities have no idea it all starts here at 3:00 am and doesn't stop till 12:00 pm. It's like a choreographed dance. I drive tankers, so I know my way around a rig, but this is the shit. I can see how dangerous it can be, even by todays safety standards. You take care, tell your moms and wives their saints. somebody has to feed you right? Next time I'm rolling west on Hwy. 2 When I see one of you, I'll have a new appreciation for what you do. Next time I decide to make some home made bread like my dad did, I'll be blessing all of you. Thanks
Thank you for your kind words. It is a great life but yes very dangerous and without a healthy fear of equipment, fatal accidents can happen. Gotta stay alert and smart! Take care!
Something beautiful about this early less polished footage, Nick.
I'm a retired farmer from NY. 419 acres. Probably a corner of one of your fields.
Your video would be great to show to city school age kids. Certainly would keep their attention.
Its amazing how many people do not know where their donuts or cereal comes from. I've had many ask me what wheat is for, really really sad.
Congratulations and a great video lookin back X 💪💪👍👍
There are these kids in my school ( age: 13) and they think they us farmers dont feed the people.. they said that they will just go to the grocrie store to buy some and farmers are useless.. but i think the total opposite! Thank A Farmer!
+H&E Farms Some people just don't get it! Makes me wonder how anyone could survive without the farmers!
+Nick Welker this video was very well put together!
H&E Farms I get that a lot so I say when they are older they will be farmers for 3 years before prison because they would be meth farmers
Who got the popcorn in the store?
H&E Farms that’s right those kids are dumb as hell
Thanks! Around 5000 in crop and 5000 chemical fallow.
Congrats on the now over 100 yrs of the family farm. Liked the video compilation and all the different shots. Gives us non farmers an idea of what you do. May God bless your family with many more years of prosperous farming.
Thank you so much!
You're welcome LB930! Thanks!
Damn Nick. You are one hell of a filmmaker . . . for a farmer and all.
and the music is awesome
Thanks Joe, it is a good life.
Thank you for your amazing insight into modern farm processes. Keep up the good work.
Love seeing some of the original homesteads thriving. Great video!
Thanks for watching! It's a few years old now but still fun to see. If you haven't seen Welker Farms 2016 - Full Version yet, look it up. You'll like it too:)
Amazing footage! brings back great childhood memories . .
+Chris Vacca Glad you enjoyed it! I'll hopefully have a new one next year!
I like how the little John Deere harvester was working in that time , lov your vids forever
And then came Big Brute... 😉👍🏻
I’m a big farmer with 11,000 acres of corn soybeans and tobacco in Kentucky. I love your videos your farm is awesome looks exactly like ours with the big buds and the semis. Thanks for the content keep up the work and enjoy the farming
That's a ton of corn and beans! Hope you guys got it all planted and that you have a huge crop 2019. Thanks!
Thx,hope y’all had all of yours planted too
Also I wanted to ask how many acres y’all run,and what do you run
@@holdenelder2138 we run around 10,000 acres and crop mostly wheat with some in yellow peas. Yields here are pretty low
Wow!!hope the crops are staying good
Nick just a excellent well put together video lots of time and editing went in to your work.
You picked the right music as well. As a kid back in the 40's and 50's I did farming.
Never get tired of watching all the new machines these days. My Grandad would flip in his grave if he could see what it is like now.
Very neat! I don't have twitter but I was able to go and find the tweet, happy they found my video!
Good stuff. Thank you Farmers.
Thanks!
Yes sir ! We bake a lot and love that flour from the Midwest and could not live with out fresh produce and meat ! Thank you #Farmers !
chefgiovanni, klo
Nice!
It's incredible how big everything is over their in comparison to our way of farming here in Holland.
Our land doesn't get nearly as much rain and other farm land and our ground isn't very fertile so it takes thousands of acres to make a good living. To farm thousands of acres with just a few men takes huge machines and thankfully they have engineered them!
My dad would go on wheat harvest in the 50's.start in Texas and end up near Canada. He is amazed by the equipment now.
I know my grandpa felt the same way and I sit back and try to imagine what will be in 30 years, it is just amazing what they come up with. Farming is always evolving.
Thanks dckorh! I'll be putting more vids up, they won't be quite as big as this but I promise they will still be really cool!
Watching a 12 minute video makes all the hard work and effort worth it. Great video! Awesome!
Thanks Chase, some won't spend all 12 minutes watching and I'd have made it shorter but there were just too many good shots I couldn't edit them all out!
I worked on a custom crew in 1980 near Havre, Mt. that had a Big Bud. Huge tractors. GOPRO is changing You Tube. Great Video work.
This was an excellent professionally produced video. I wish they still made Big Bud tractors. I farm as well, but about half of what you do.
Thank you! I agree, I wish they still produced buds. But the ones they did are great machines! Awesome to hear you farm, its a good life.
Thanks Rush, though I am a bit disturbed you are checking out my legs through pants lol. You are correct though, a number of years I held off legs fearing I had a knee injury, turns out I didn't, so back to legs again lol.
Very nice shot with the sunset in the background! That was awesome!
Thanks for watching!
Ha I hear ya, no worries, I have plans for many Big Bud videos that will show close up and normal operations with engine sound:)
I would love to come out and see you all. What an amazing video and job you all do. Thank you for sharing this video, it really is amazing to see what you go threw and some people out there don't appreciate it. Farming to me is not a job. Why would I say that you may be thinking. +hilham 89 Thank you for the nice comment :) glad you enjoy it and perhaps someday you'll get to be apart of your own farm.
Welker Farms Inc if I may ask where are you all out of?
crazy! I love seeing this action from these new and unique angle. Thanks so much for doing it differently!
Great video. Thanks for your hard work ! Those big rigs following along side must be a bumpy ride !
Welker Farms Inc and now you have your new combines
@@toby.maximillian i sont think hes gonna reply, the comments like 6 years old
@@thegamingkid9096 I asked a question on a video that was 6 years old and got a response on another chanell.
'Hollywood in Montana' …. just the BEST. HURRAY to our AMERICAN FARMERS. ….. Feeding the WORLD. Way to go Welkers Family. Hello from East TENN
Thank you!
That was the most legit best farming video to date....
Thank you Dave, there are some good ones out there but I am happy how this turned out!
And it still is!
Really nice videography. Some of your camera angles and positions are quite clever; they show views most of us would never see. Keep up the nice work!
Thanks Torr! It was fun to make! Hopefully I'll have another video with the same or better caliber this fall!
Great Filmography, you have talent putting together a short film. That farming video is the best I've seen. Absolutely loved it. Those BigBuds were awesome. I loved the harvest, watching the wheat (guessing wheat) go into the header! Nice!
Your buds are cool Nick. You could get and the 747 to complete the collection.Neat tractors, pure American Iron!
Thanks Stathis! We wish we owned the 747! But with only one made it won't be going for sale any time soon haha.
Yup but as a matter of fact the Williams do not till any more with the 747 since they came up with no till farming and now they rent the tractor to a museum in Iowa if im correct. So if ya have the money for it, you are half way there lol
This is my favourite farm video. Well done!
+Mad Bread It is the original! Glad you enjoy it!
Fantastic vid. I've done a little of this myself so I can appreciate how much effort was put in on this video. Top job and thanks from Qld, Australia!!
Thanks Brad! Always cool to meet folks who have farmed:)
Your video is freaking awesome man! I love the Big Bud tractors and harvest time shots you got with the Go Pros. You have really awesome choice in music too love it!!!!
Thanks Ghetto! appreciate the kind words! Hopefully I'll get some new videos up soon:)
That's is cool you guys run your trucks out in the field like that. I farm on the Palouse and we don't use bankout wagons either.
Nice, fun video. Farming still looks like hard work.
+pethoviejo Thanks, it can be but really it isn't as bad as say, roofing houses or logging forests lol:)
