    Yay for air fryers. A tip; pre heat air fryer for 3 minutes before laying chicken in single layer and then spray with oil. Turn pieces over at half cooking time. Coating chicken with rice flour makes it super crispy.

    Thanks for sharing air fryer recipe. Few tips on air fryers as I did a lot of research online and trial and error: 1) the more air that circulates the better so space food out so not touching it makes it crispier and cooks more evenly. I bought the square air fryer rack so can do 2 levels of potatoes or chicken 2) Keep the air fryer at least 10cm away from wall and rosemary plants etc so it can suck in and blow out the air to make it cook better 3) apparently spray oils can corrode the interior so I use a plastic spray bottle or a basting brush with either rice bran or Avocado oil 4) Preheating even for couple of mins helps also
    Obsessed with your recipes, fried chicken and air fryer so look forward to more. So please keep sharing your delicious creations. One last hint: I don’t like to use microwave to defrost and often not forward thinking enough to defrost so if you put air fryer anywhere between 90-120 degrees you can defrost everything from bacon & sausages, 9+ wagu steak to salmon or glacier toothfish in just a few mins. Love and gratitude 🙏🥰

    Everything I've cooked in this unit has come out great th-cam.com/users/postUgkxD4Qeo-HRLxMfom_PDinM_SBfes00qJsB ! Everything tastes so good. Some of the recipes I've changed a little to improve the taste. For instance, for french fries which call for no oil, I spray them with olive oil and season them with salt and pepper. They come out great! It makes the best toast I have ever eaten. The recipe I use calls for lightly buttering both sides of the bread. It calls for cooking at 400 degrees for 5 minutes on one side and then 2 minutes on the other side. This time has a lot to do with the kind of bread you are using...so keep an eye on it. Also, the fans in this Ninja are a lot stronger than other air fryers. So lay a metal spoon or something on the bread to keep it from flying around. It's a little extra work to use your Ninja as a toaster but it is worth it!

    I got an airfryer not because I like fried foods but rather I love how easy it is to clean it versus my large oven. My machine has pre-heat function which I think helps with making things nice and crispy. My MO is always start lower heat than suggested in recipes, then do a blast for the last few minutes to get the charring or crispiness of things like char sui, roast pork belly, whole chicken or wings. The food always came out amazing - always moist and tender inside which I think is contributed by the closed quarters of the cooking basket. The easy clean up justify getting the appliance.

    Marion, last week I made Buffalo chicken drumsticks in my air fryer. Potato starch works very well to achieve a crispy crust. Just one tip, because it’s a high speed hot air, make sure the flour is pasty not powdery or else it will blow the powder all over the machine. Otherwise it works more than just a fryer. I can toss burger patties n sausages or frozen nuggets n bam! Done within 6-10 minutes. My favourite thing to do with it is baked potatoes/wedges, just coat with spice n oil n gosh! Air fryers are literally just tiny ovens, I would just apply the same principles when cooking anything in the airfryer. You could toss a little bit of oil in at the marinating stage and leave a little room between pieces for more even crispiness.

    Air fryer is the best. Less oil or no oil. I made potato wedges, dinner roll, salmon, chicken...etc
    No fuss in cleaning up the kitchen . Oh , I also make half boil egg. Just rinse the egg and put them in the air fryer basket, cook at 200°C for 8 mins. If you want it hard boiled cook for 10-12 mins. Then take out and put in a bowl of water to cool it. Then peel off the shell.

    Wow! This is such a game changer. I was cooking the chicken at the trusty 180 degrees but ramped it up to 200 and dropped the drumstick time to 20 minutes, wings 15, then rested for 10. Perfect. I Marinated the chicken in schizuan s&p, 5 spice powder overnight, then added a bit more to the cornflour. I had a home made plum sauce to serve with it but the chicken was so good I didn't use it.

  • @marcc5768
    @marcc5768 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    the amount of chicken in the single layer seems a bit much tho. Air needs to circulate around the chicken. 2 less pieces in the basket should be okay and arrange accordingly. Also read comments about preheating, it is a good idea. Didn't mention the air fryer is in F or C temp. I usually preheat at 4-5 minutes at 390 F. Glad you sprayed the basket along with the food being cooked. Also each air fryer available on the market is not the same, each model has pros and cons. I have a Ninja AF101, smaller cooking chamber but good for getting things crispy due to the smaller cooking volume of area, 3.8 quart only. It's good for 2 people. Something like the Cosori 5.8 quart is good for 3-5 people.

    Suggestion: from what I've seen on other vids, canned oil is not recommended as the propellants affect non stick coating 😊

  • @tracys_valentine
    @tracys_valentine 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Always preheat your air fryer before cooking just like your oven. Air fryers are mini convection ovens not fryers. I would hope you preheat your oven before you start the cooking time in your oven.
    Do not use aerosol oils in your air fryer. The propellants will cause the bucket to turn black like the inside of your oven will get over time. The fan is the cause of this. And the black coating will accumulate underneath where the fan, heating element and sensors are located. Nearly impossible to clean.
    If you want to add oil, buy a hand held oil sprayer bottle and fill it with the oil of you preference. Than spray your food.
    Cut the knuckle off the ends of your chicken legs. This will make more room in your bucket.
    To get a more even meat texture In chicken with bones, start your cooking on a lower temperature, approximately 300 degrees F for 10 minutes to warm up the bones and the meat next to the bones. Than finish at the regular time. In your case, 10 minutes at 400 degrees.
    With air fryers, you must use a digital meat thermometer to indicate the inner temperature of the meat. Digital meat thermometers take all the guess work out of your cooking.
    Meat thermometers and air fryers/ovens are synonymous..

    • @tracys_valentine
      @tracys_valentine 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I cook with two identical air fryers so I can cook meat in one air fryer at one time and temperature while I cook vegetables at a different time and temperature. Also it gives me the flexibility to switch buckets to cook complete meals to serve at the same time. Or wash one bucket while the other fryer is still cooking.
      I have cooked every cut of meat, vegetables, baked bread loafs and cakes in my air fryer/ovens. They cook faster and are easier to clean than a conventional oven or broiler.
      Remember, anything that you can cook in you oven or broiler, you can cook in your air fryer oven. The term air fryer was used by manufacturers to sell air fryers to the consumer. They are convection ovens. Welcome to the air fryer/oven community.

      you might have to do some experimenting with the recipes since each air fryer is different..unless you invested in the exact same model as Marion's air fryer. Don't overcrowd the cooking basket tho..give some room for the heated air to circulate.

    Air Fryer user here. Pre-heat for a few minutes, ad food cook on medium heat for a few minutes (this lets the heat get through before is starts to crispen up. Turn up high for the remaining time. This method works for meat too. I have tried souse vide the food till lightly cooked, then air fry it on high. I think you have to try things out rather than rely on SET recipes. Enjoy:

    hi Marion and Jamie!
    Thank you SO much for this video. I had my gallbladder removed several years ago and my son Josh had his removed during his liver transplant last year. That means fried foods is very difficult to digest and really should not be eaten.
    I bought an air fryer for my husband last year and he has been cooking potatoes in it. Yay!
    We will be trying this recipe for sure! Would you be interested in testing a different fried chicken recipe in the air fryer without using the oil and corn starch?
    Blessings!

    Airfryer does not mean no oil. It just means less oil. Rule of thumb, if the food generates its own oil, you most likely can skip the oil spray. For example. Store bought frozen french fries...you don't need to spray oil. IF you want to use fresh potatoes to make french fries, definitely spray some oil.
    Also pre-heating for a couple of minutes is always recommended, but not fatal if you are impatient.

    You’re using the wrong air fryer! Get a Phillips air fryer with a rack so you don’t even have to turn the chicken, gets crispy all around. Another tip use a basting brush and brush some oil onto it to just it a little bit of goodness that reminds you of normal fried chicken, the oil drips down into the tray at the end regardless.

    For those who are thinking to buy an air fryer, I highly recommend the modern oven kind. This is the old model and I prefer the new version better. I have it.
    Thx Marion for the air fryer recipe. I need to learn how to make new dishes with my airfryer. I know many people getting rid of their airfryer because they bought it to make things like French fries cos they think they could magically make fries without oil or less oil but I find airfryer French fries to be horrible. My kids love it tho 🙄. Kids, they are easy to please!
    I also find that I can successfully cook food with high moisture content like chicken and char siew. Mine has the rotating grill so I use it to grill chicken and char siew. Anything with low moisture content end up tasting like cardboard.

      @cleargreen123456789 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @Judith Osborn airfryers are quicker in heating up and more efficient in terms of energy I believe. Preheating our microwave/oven at home takes longer than our airfryer. Ann Reardon (how to cook that) has a video comparing airfryers, ovens and deepfryers.

    I love air fried chicken and prefer it to oil frying. I always preheat (5 min) and never overcrowd so that air flow evenly surrounds meat and cooks completely. Also, i cook chicken between 365 -400. It always comes out perfectly juicy and crunchy.
