    Great video! Watching for a second time. I found some large alligator gar scales that were modified into what I assume would be "bird points" at a site near Catahoula Lake, so they were taking large gar. If you have clay that isn't too sandy you can mux in some grass fiber and cover the fish to bake. When you peel off the clay the skin comes off with it.

    Another amazing video! Very nice!
    You can wrap the fish in a clay ball as well and throw it in the coals. Skin usually comes off with the clay when you crack it off. OR you can seal any cracks with fresh clay and it's now cooked and portable.

    That looks like a great shooting bow, was it ever traditional to have a line connected to the arrow or is that a modern thing?

    • @huntprimitive9918
      @huntprimitive9918  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      probably more of a modern thing. primitive lines can get pretty heavy and drag arrows down or deflect them. It doable as seen in my alligator hunting video, but lines are a pain in the butt unless you really really need them

      @huntprimitive9918  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have written about it extensively, but i know I don't have a video about it. Stone points typically don't do well on turkeys. Steel points are fine but overall bow hunting birds without all the modern gear is a good way to go hungry for a primitive man. That's why I like to hunt turkeys with the flintlock. That's still pretty fun for me and I do have a video on that

    Is that the bow you quick dried and made from stone tools? It looks like it is still shooting very well for a bow that was force dried. I’ve heard people say quick drying yields poorer performing bows, but this one looks to be plenty efficient. Very impressed.

    • @huntprimitive9918
      @huntprimitive9918  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, that's the same bow. I actually think it makes a better bow because it really hyper dries the wood out. I think the key either way is to make sure it is truly dry before tillering
