(New) ADVANCED POLICE INTERCEPTORS and Specialist Cars Responding With Siren and Lights

- Several police cars of Merseyside Police's newly formed Matrix Vehicle Enforcement Team responding to incidents with siren and lights in Liverpool. Also included are Matrix Armed Response Vehicles, Dog Section Vans, Road Policing Units and the County Lines Task Force Kia Stinger GT.
The Matrix Serious and Organised Crime (MSOC) Unit is Merseyside Police's highly skilled anti-crime unit. Officers are well trained in tackling gang violence, pursuits, gun crime, public order situations, robberies and also search operations. Recently the unit formed the Matrix Vehicle Enforcement Team (MVET) specifically to tackle criminals using vehicles in their crimes; such as in county lines drug trafficking.

The Kia Stinger looks absolutely magnificent as a police vehicle
Totally agree, brings a touch of Seoul, Kangnam style.
Don’t get used to them soon though. Kia is considering phasing them out due to low public demand. Queensland Police Service (one of the forces here in Australia) only recently acquired some Stingers, and they’re already looking for a replacement vehicle

To be fair even if the Stinger wasn't being phased out of production I couldn't really see them being adopted as a mainstream Intercerptor/Traffic car over here in blighty.
Don't get me wrong, it's a beautiful car and great to see something which falls into the "High Performance" category which isn't a BMW, but it's a very niche vehicle for a specialist unit (MVET) the likes of which a lot Forces don't have.
Personally I got more excited for the Kodiaq vRS dog carrier... But then I'm a sad old man who loves Skodas lol
It's a really nice and different surprise to see such a 'sporty' vehicle in UK police fleets - and one from South Korea too as Kia isn't common in the UK either.
It's a one off though so I don't think we'll be seeing anymore of them; but definitely leaves an impression.
However other Kia vehicles have appeared in the Merseyside Police fleet for more common duties; something you've not really seen with other UK forces. I don't know how they perform but it makes Merseyside Police more interesting to me!
@Resident Elect - I have to say fair play to Skoda; I'm loving the looks of their cars the past 10 years. The Kodiaqs and Superbs were, well, superb!

That Stinger GT is arguably one of the best looking cars ever to be put in police livery. It's very well styled and suits police livery well, and yet a capable and functional police vehicle.

with so many different brands and models it seems like police just buys what they want to have. In which way does the OCC support you? Do they like ... tell you when there's a police car coming out from the station?
In the first clip I was surprised at how many spotters there are standing right there. In general it's interesting or funny to see UK spotters rather standing at police stations while spotters in e.g. Germany, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Netherlands etc rather stand at fire stations
There's in fact just a handfull of videos from Germany where you see police cars responding from their station

Wonder if you could answer me a question which I thought of when I first saw the vid?
So I'm guessing covert vehicles like the Ceed, Leon and Focus will be classed as "Standard" performance as most likely their engine capacity is under 2000cc, but do they still require an "Advanced" authority to respond in due to them not being marked? 🤔
Up here in Yorkshire its very rare to see an unmarked which isn't a High Performance Audi, BMW or Skoda, which are all primarily used used by Roads Crime/Traffic/ARVs.
@@residentelect it’s Liverpool, they use many unmarked vehicles for LPU as well. To catch people in the act. Taking your example. The Kia. I would not have known that was a police car was it not for the incredibly hidden lights and sirens.

I think it's a great idea! Up here in Yorkshire and the Humber I don't think the four Forces I work alongside deploy unmarked cars in that particular role, with the exception of plain clothes Proactive units, but even they are few and far between due to them usually having Traffic/RCU backing them up if they expect a subject to flee in a vehicle.

@@residentelect Some forces allow "Standard" ticket holders to respond using unmarked vehicles equipped with warning equipment, where as others require the "Advanced" ticket. Unlike the CC requirement set by the different driving levels, unmarked vehicles are set on force policy.

I'm a Paramedic and normally driver a fully marked Skoda Octavia Scout, but while it was being repaired after a bump (not by me, honest!) I used an unmarked Incident Officer's Octavia. Had LEDs in the grille, wing mirrors and a windscreen dash-mount. Felt like an undercover cop 🤣 very immature of me, I know lol

Building designs like that always make me wonder if building users were ever consulted. If they redesigned the car park, the cars could go straight out on the the main road, reducing the time it takes to get to the gate, then accelerate along a side road, slow down and go to the main road. Why design it to obstruct drivers?
It's similar to how shops will put their main door down the side of a building, not at the front!

It's Seat/Cupra's four wheel drive system. Same thing as BMW calling theirs "Xdrive" or Audi who call theirs "Quattro".

I believe it was because of the glass roof / sun hatch. This vehicle was written off in a collision a few momths later.
