    First thing, I've been enjoying these for a year, they've helped me more than I can express.
    I had a spiritual collapse after I had a NDE due to my heart stopping from loss of blood from an accident and was battling with a severe depression, from being forced to come back from these light beings that loved me more than any earthly word or phrase will ever justify. I never got any answers from them though, because they only kept showing me images of my son instead of telling me anything, but where I was - I had no fear of Hell and I wasn't technically a Christian.
    So when I came back, I begin to battle what it was that I saw, then I came across your video of the heart and the lungs; which struck me because I felt total oneness where I went too with everything acting like a moving system of connection that was all reflecting off one another. So with me trying to figure out which religion and belief that I should I follow or learn from to make sure that I went back to where I was going, I begged God with every fiber I had within me what I should do. Where I could find answers, and not end up in Hell.
    With my laptop in front of me the entire time I'm having this complete spiritual breakdown, an article about a preacher and fraud that he had committed was up on the page that I had clicked on previously, that I thought had answers; and it killed me because he was in trouble for stealing from the church. But during me crying to God for at least 10 minutes, I looked up at my screen to try and regain my foothold on reality, and the first thing I seen was 'God bless Sweden' in the middle of that page for no apparent reason. It was as if the font size was 20 compared to the surrounding ones being 10, even though they we're all the same. I still can't explain that level of coincidence, other than a divine answer from something that was listening.
    I'll never forget that moment for the rest of my life.And after I started researching on my own, the way he felt when he went into his spiritual trances, was verbatim to how I felt over there when I left my body. So from pouring my heart out to God, he listened. So thank you guys for delivering what you do, and giving me the peace in my heart that I need.

    With Passover around the corner, Swedenborg's view on the symbolism/correspondence of wine and unleavened bread / yeast and fermentation, couldn't be more appropriate. These seder / last supper symbols then became the Holy Communion/Eucharist wine and wafer. Thanks for the wonderful and timely insights!

    I like how you take extra effort to distinguish between the thing and its symbolic meaning. Usually, we hear about the opposite error, where an abstract concept is reified into a concrete thing (a HUGE problem in physics, for example). But of course, when talking about spiritual concepts, the opposite is also true. A spiritual concept being reified would be like saying apples are temptations, or snakes are the devil. This is a problem that many fundamentalist religions face in reading their sacred texts as literal, Christianity included, and it is, in my opionion, their main failing.

    Hey Curtis...Awesome job man. You said something really powerful in your commentary and hope you don't mind if I shed some light on it in hopes that some folks will go back and listen to that again. In regards to changing a character flaw, or negative emotional state... faking it until it takes root can be a powerful thing. In the beginning, you may not feel any connection to the state in which you have a desire to be in the beginning, but if you continue to "act like its so" in spite of how you feel, that desired state actually becomes a part of you. That one principal goes back to agreeing with Gods ideal for your life. If you've been a mean cuss your entire life and find it difficult to change, but have the desire, faking a positive pleasant nature is you agreeing with God. Provided you've made the decision to get all the crap that could be part of the problem out of your life, once you force this behavior, you begin to feel it take root little by little as a more genuine part of yourself. Again I just wanted to bring more attention to that considering it was so powerful. Reason being is I've seen many peoples lives changed by that exercise.

      Just gotta say that for a lot of things emotional "faking it until it takes root" might be dangerous. For me it Never helped me, it only made things worse. A lot of the time that isn't going to help no matter how long you give it and during that time your negative state could spiral and get worse. I know it did for me. So don't think it's some magical cure to everything.

  • @jt3712
    @jt3712 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    It is very interesting for me that actually the show is all about repentance and all its details despite the title... Just a thought about justification and sanctification according to Swedenborg view as far as I understand it (correct me if I'm wrong :D). Despite being a single event (as it is declared by some Christian view), justification is actually a continuous process which includes sanctification also inside it. Justification happens by faith + charity, by having truth and goodness deeply rooted in our heart. So important it is to undergo that spiritual journey of sanctification, justification becomes not important at all. Moreover, it is unimportant for God to declare whether someone is righteous or unrighteous (perhaps He can't even declare someone unrighteous because He never look at someone with frown), but He will always guide us in the sanctification process until eternity in heavens...

    I just watched the Choose Your Own Path about finding a wallet part and it made me smile as that exact thing happened to me when I was working for a carnival as a ticket seller in the summer of 1975 when I was 17. I couldn't leave my booth to get the wallet lying on the ground (i was actually locked in from the outside) so some kids got it for me after I asked them to go pick it up and bring it to me. After the kids ran off, I looked in the wallet and saw there was over $300 in cash. That was a lot of money in 1975. I hung on to it until I saw a local police officer then gave him the wallet. Afterwards, everyone I knew said I should have kept the money and that the police officer probably kept the money and returned the wallet claiming there was no money inside.
    It made me feel terrible that everyone thought a police officer would do that, but I never felt bad that I hadn't kept the money and had turned in the wallet with the money. Which all my friends thought was the dumbest thing I could have done. Made me take a much closer look at my friends, which hurt because I had liked them before the whole wallet situation.
    Anyway, yeah, your scenario felt like you took it from my life, lol! Although, back then, I didn't once think of it as winning against Hell. I just did what I felt was the right thing to do.

    • @offTheLeftEye
      @offTheLeftEye  8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      +Gini Winslow, I agree! Swedenborg wrote that we set our foundation in this world and then we do continue to grow and learn in the spiritual world! He says even the angels in the highest heaven increase in love and wisdom eternally. He says they're the ones first to acknowledge that what they know is nothing compared to what they don't know! I sometimes think about how life is an ongoing process and Jesus refers to heaven as "eternal life," so it makes sense to me!

    Here's an extreme example of finding pleasure from committing evil, I live in WA. St. Back in the 1980's we had a serial killer known as the (Green river killer) He was arrested some twenty years after he started his murder spree in the early 2000's and after he was sentenced for his crimes while in a jail house interview the killer (Gary Ridgway) began to weep, the officer interviewing him thought he was having a moment of contiguous considering all the people he had killed, he asked Gary why are you crying? Gary said he was crying because he just realized he can no longer do the thing he loved the most now that he was incarcerated for life and that was murdering other human beings.

    Every 12 year old Jewish boy teaches in the holy temple. It's called a Bar Mitzvah... This is one thing taught in Christianity that drives me insane. The outward meaning of this story is simply to demonstrate that Jesus was a Jew, and thus the Old Testament promise of a branch of David fit even though he ultimately rejected the major teachings of the Temple of Jerusalem in the New Testament stories. I wish more Christians knew about Jewish history.

    • @Just-Schizo
      @Just-Schizo 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm pretty sure some of the more greedy people out there (greedy for maney, fame, whatever it may be) are the ones who have had a lot of said fruits since their "greed" was what gave them the main drive to do what they did.
      Some are greedy for knowledge also, just a note.
      Also, good luck with that as greed is the most basic and most deeply rooted concept that all humans share. Inevetably it was what kept us alive way back when. Greed is mostly not very noticable, it just drives us a lot on the small levels that we don't even realize most of the time. Just saying. As someone who has a fair understanding of psychology.

      cm punk The Swedenborg site will, obviously give you a lot of info, but it so depends on what your interests are, what to read. This is a section which presents starting points, not big books.
      www.swedenborg.com/bookstore/where-do-i-start/
      My advice in addition to that, specially when it is a big book, is to not start at page 1. First check the Content and read the chapter that you'd be most interested in.
      BTW if you have any questions, you'll notice that each paragraph is numbered. Swedenborg's books are referenced by par. numbers, not page numbers.
      Best wishes!!

    what does Swedonborg say about the last supper? I grew up Catholic, so this is where Christ established the Eucharist.

    • @offTheLeftEye
      @offTheLeftEye  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi +Stephen Rogoff! Yes, Swedenborg wrote about the last supper. He maintains that baptism and holy supper (the Eucharist, that is) are important, sacred rituals for us to take part in. The value of them though is in the inner meaning of the external actions. Baptism is a picture of our commitment to practice repentance in our lives. The Eucharist or holy supper is a ritual we can take part in throughout our lives and is a symbol of us receiving love and wisdom from the Lord that sustains us on our spiritual paths. The bread/body is goodness; the blood/wine is wisdom. There's more I could say, but that's the essential gist of what Swedenborg says! It's a topic that could make a good episode!

      Hello Marcus -- "That woman" is me, Chara. This show was from several years ago, so I don't remember clearly, but usually they edit out my "um"s and hesitations and stumbly phrases, and they also have to edit for time.... I did notice one dropped word at about 21:25 -- I probably said "implies you're gonna change the way you *live*" or "act" or "behave." And it seems like something is missing right after that, too, before the discussion of turning. My guess is they don't still have the unedited video hanging around. Are there any specific questions you have about it?

      basic principle: the Holy Spirit is quite literally the Lord's spirit. It is
      the essence of the Lord that emanates down to us, that we experience. We can
      note this several times in the New Testament, such as
      And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit.
      (Acts 2:4).
      And when He had said this, He breathed on them, and said to them, “Receive the Holy Spirit".
      (John 20:22)
      Swedenborg wrote that the Holy spirit comes to us via divinetruth. We can know God, the nature of love and how to grow through our
      understanding of divine truth. In other words, the Holy Spirit, which emanates
      from God through Creation, becomes realized for us in sacred text. That is just
      a small glimpse of Swedenborg’s description of the Holy Spirit. I would
      recommend watching an episode we did on the Trinity, which can be found here: th-cam.com/video/-YbEHk2N884/w-d-xo.html
      Wishing you well, friend!

    Was told I could post a link here of an interview I did about Howard Storm talking about his Near-Death experience. In Part IV, he talks about atheists and Hell. But Parts I and II talk about his atheist expeice in hell when he first goes there.

      hey man, thanks for posting that and props to the Swedenborg folks for being cool about allowing you to post it. I watched the trailer then went straight to "million questions" section. extremely fascinating...yet again another account that brings further confirmation on what Swedenborg observed. I saw several parallels. so awesome seeing stuff like this. I was talking to a guy yesterday who was a personal health care nurse. this guy has a beautiful sprit. rare and unique. he was thinking of leaving his current industry and getting into another industry that's unrelated to what he currently does. he says he is only able to help 2 or 3 people at a time and wants to help more in a energy related indystry. I felt compelled to tell this guy that when he helps the 2 or 3, he is actually helping so many more. more than he could imagine. the people he helps see a glimpse of God's love through him. they take that and share it with others. I told him it's exponential. it happens in different ways ofcourse, but it's clear when God shines through us toward others, it's prompts and compels the others to shine in their own way to someone else. this dude has helped far more folks than he realizes. he received what I said and ageed. I'm not sure what he will decide, but at least he realizes his influence goes beyond what he thought.

      Thank you! I had a great time doing these interviews and I still stay in touch with Howard. I think what you did for the nurse you know is spot on. Encouragement in times when we don't think we are making a difference is a noble thing. Well done.

      +Matt Cline thanks. curious. ..had Howard ever herd of Swedenborg or his chronicles before or after his nde..ever?

      +Matt Cline i just learned of Howards video today. when I saw the part when Jesus/God told him to love the one you're with rather than build a shrine...and in doing that, it can change the world..then he proceeded to say, because that person will take that love to another and so on...I teared up. reason being, is that was personal confirmation that what I told the nurse guy was spot on how it all works.

    HEAVEN I s NOT a place
    It is a state of Being A state of being Born Again truly and daily. A state impossible task to arrive at without Jesus. When you arrive at that state Jesus will be there.

      It's a state of being which is out of this world...
      Though you need to follow our specific religion and do exactly as our books say.
      Then you can reach this state of being.
      Also, you need to follow with this guy in your heart who you wont meet or have any contact or anything with until you arive at said state of being.
      Also, what does "being born again Truly and Daily" mean?
      Because being born again TRULY would mean literally being pushed out of the womb again (aka born again.)
      That's what that Truly implies.
      Then the daily. Have fun being reborn and never maturing past a day before being reborn again.
      Over and over.
      That's the Overly literal reading of this.
      It's funny to me.
      So please tell me, what do you Really mean with being "born again truly?"

    Again, HEAVEN is NOT a place, it is a state of existence. Go ahead and close that Bible temporarily, and OPEN your Mind to Near Death Experiences. It will all make sense⊙▽⊙

      I haven't watched nearly the whole thing and I just have to ask... What does opeing your mind to a thing ike that even mean? And how would you even do that? Then I also have this question straight as I saw it... Near Death Experiences!? That's soething you want? And how do these two things fit together?
      How can one open a MIND to a NEAR DEATH experience? I am horribly confused over what you mean, that's all.

      people who have near death experiences get to have a look behind the veil. it is fascinating.

    Dios tenga pieda de esos saserdotes, que Disen ser saserdotes catolicos, pero realmente no son saserdotes, soloponen en mal nuestra iglesia, que Dios los perdone,
