Growing up in Pangboche I didn't know how lucky I was to see these views every day. I have been away from home for the last 6 years and I miss the mountain and its vibe so badly but your videos made me feel at home. You explored a lot of places I used to wander as a child. Thank you for the awesome vlog. Love it.
Hi Max, I have found your video by chance and have noticed, that we were there almost at the same time. When you look at your video (1th minute and 7th second) you will see me descending to Chukhung. Unfortunately, our attempt to climb Island peak was not successful partly because of weather (cold and fresh snow) and partly because of the health problems of the other group members. We have climbed to about 5.500 m and stopped at the beginning of the rock couloir, where the last group member started having problems and I was also forced to return to the base camp. Despite that, a few days later we were successful on the Lobuche east which was as the second on our itinerary. My plan is to go to Nepal next year 2021 again with the aim to climb Mera Peak and afterward the Island Peak. So thank you very much for your great video which not only recalled the great memories but also as the only one I have seen yet presented also the rocky part of the Island Peak climb staring from the couloir. Yours Jan
Thanks for a great comment, Jan. Yes, I remember that meet on the trail a little. Thankfully we were lucky with weather. Congrats with the Lobuche East summit and wish you successful Mera and Island Peak climbs. I also want to come back to Nepal.
Congratulations Summit push was great I am sure you have had time of your life! But your off beat wandering is what was very caught my attention. Your narration and camera skills are very versatile! Hoping to see you at another adventure soon !
Namaste from Canada, Max! Great playlist! I enjoyed it immensely. Your photography is fabulous. I did the 3 passes trek in March, and the Chukhung valley was my favorite. Seeing the trekking, tea houses, food, and the amazing views up that valley again... I can't wait to go back, inspired this time to include the climb. I just wanted to say thanks for putting this together.
Excellent video, editing, music, and narration. I did EBC in 2019. The mountain is calling me and I am now scheduled for Island Peak in November 2023. Thanks again for your inspirational content!
Hey Max, What an amazing footage of the climb ....absolutely mind blowing footages from the summit of Island peak and yes not to forget the little adventure you did from Chukkung on your rest day and those inexplicable timelapses around Ama Dablam. ..I just loved the narration and also the real time climbing footages.....Our sherpa was same when I attempted with my clients in 2019 June but could not summit due to a missing ladder which fell into crevasse. You should also come to India for some very nice 6000+ peaks.!!! take care and Stay safe..!!!
Thanks a lot Ongoz for your warm words. I'm glad you like the video because I put quite a lot of efforts into it. That must be a huge disappointment when you realise that a ladder, you're supposed to use, fell into crevasse. I was super lucky with ladders, we didn't use any during the climb
Really like the way you didn’t finish with the summit. It must be great to relax and slowly walk back to Lukla with job done. Did the Everest Base Camp Trek a few years ago-hiked in from Jiri. Been thinking about Island Peak. Cheers for the video.

This whole series was very well done! Thats as close as it can get without actually being there. I watch every video like this i can find and this is def one of the best I've seen. Great job Max thank you! Which alpine peak will you do next?
Thank you so much. Glad that this video might actually help someone to make theirs Island Peak climbs. The next peak, I'm not sure yet, I've been thinking about Lenin Peak but I would not say it's my dream. Hi Max, just discovered your channel because I've recently decided to come back to Nepal and this time climb Island Peak. Your video is in my opinion the best that exists about it and I couldn't thank you enough for the work you put on it. It gives me a very good idea of what awaits me there, and I will put a big effort to get ready for this. The whole footage is incredibly beautiful, you truly are a talented film maker. Just a single question, how did your camera die during the ascent? Was it a lack of battery or the cold temperature killing it? I did my first EBC trek with a GoPro Hero7, had a solar panel and slept with all my electronic devices in my sleeping bag, including my Canon reflex camera. Super scared the devices die once I'm climbing this, have you got any advices? Well done for the ascent and the video again!
Hey man! Thanks a lot. Glad you like the video. Well, first off I'd like to mention that I used a DJI osmo action. I think it was both: the cold temperature (I think it was around -10C that night) and a lack of battery. I was shooting for quite a long time during the summit push and didn't carry a spare battery. I heard that gopro's work is shorter in cold conditions. Maybe that's not the case for the latest models. It's absolutely reasonable to keep your camera and spare batteries in your sleeping bag. The only thing I can add is that you absolutely should have a spare battery or two. Yeah and keep them in your warm pockets (not necessarily in a jacket, could be a fleece layer or whatever) when you're on the way.
