Shortline Railroad Switching, Cincinnati Eastern Railroad In Ohio. 3 Classic Locomotives N&W Peavine

- Railroad switching in Ohio on short line railway Cincinnati Eastern Railroad CCET. Pulling scrap metal gondola cars and grain cars through Mount Orab, Ohio and Sardinia, Ohio. We see the train with 3 locomotives passing Mount Orab and then entering Sardinia, Ohio. 1 locomotive was set off on a siding near the wye and then the train continued on. The gons were going to Cohen Recycling in Macon, Ohio and the covered hopper cars were going to Winchester Ag in Winchester, Ohio. I got lucky. A friend of mine called me in the morning and let me know that the train was heading my way. I went to Wendys and got the Number 5 meal with a Vanilla Frosted Cino, large and then pulled down by the tracks in Mount Orab. I just started eating when I heard the train approaching. Next, I filmed the train crossing Kline Rd, just east of Mt Orab and then I caught them in Sardinia. They cut the train off short of the first crossing in town and then spotted the trailing locomotive in the siding that leads to the west leg of the wye. After that they continued east and I headed home to get the kids off the bus. The train was on the way to Plum Run to shove storage cars all the way to the end of the active track. I went to Plum Run the next day and filmed them shoving over 100 cars to the end of track so make sure you see that video! I got some rare footage of tracks being used that rarely see a wheel turn over them. I filmed this on November 9, 2021.

Are the bugs that are biting you red or orange? The red ones ate Lady Bugs and I don't think they bite, but those orange ones are another type of invasive beetle related to the Lady Bug. I was told by an ODNR Wildlife Officer that the agency introduced them in Southern Ohio to serve as food for the wild turkey population. For a time they kind of overbred since they had nothing that ate them. They found the turkeys didn't like them. There aren't as many of them as there once was. If what that officer told me was correct, pretty dumb on the part of the ODNR to introduce a non-native species of anything since we all know how that went with things like honeysuckle and carp. It is great the CER is making a go of being a new short line. Great vids as always!! Fun to watch Norfie playing.

I love the red and black paint scheme on the GP15-1's. And I think the other diesel locomotives should be painted in the same colors. Just a thought.

Thank you for documenting the work of this train crew. That is interedting that the conductor uses a car to get around instead of being on the train. Keep these videos on the Cincinnati Eastern coming. This is a neat railroad.

I don't know what they did to the horn on that locomotive, but it sounds so cool! All that bologna and Norfie is getting big!
It sounds like an Nathan P3 horn. I looked on here you tube and found a few videos the horns sound the same.
It is also the same horn sound that Sothern Pacific used on all of it's engines. They also were made in the 1960's.

Love your vids and your enthusiasm about trains dude!!! The port here in Wilmington, NC has been working triple time to keep up with the backlog as evidenced by CSX rolling through town TWICE during daylight, weekday hours sometimes during rush hour!!! LMFAO Unheard of a month or 2 ago. As bougie as some folks might be down here, ya can't argue with 2 locomotives hauling all that glorious freight in and out. Man I love hearing the dishes rattle and the building shimmy when those beasts roll on by. Puts things in perspective bud. Thank you!

Another great video, JT. I noticed the two red Cincinnati locomotives were GP15-1s. That reminded me of something. About 15 yrs ago, I bought two GP 15s from Walthers Trainline. They were responsive, smooth runners--purred like kittens--and modestly priced. I literally wore them out, after years of excellent service. Recently, I bought an Atlas ho switcher from a dealer here in the Midwest. Right out of the box the locomotive buzzed like bad gears grinding, or something off balance, and it was sluggish. Atlas looked at it twice and could not find anything wrong. May I ask those of your viewers who are model RRs if this is a trend. Are the new locomotives too cheaply made or is this a one off? Thanks for your help, guys. Sign me: Heart broken in KS.

It's been interesting watching the CER take essentially a bit of dead railroad cast off by one of the class 1 roads and turn it from a rusted,crapshoot if the crossings would work to a functioning railroad.
Next time you happen to be at a dollar store grab one of those laser pointers they usually have at the check out and watch Norfie go absolutely nuts.
Obviously just be careful to avoid flashing her face but I've never seen a cat not got crazy trying to get the little red dot.
This makes me so excited about fall and winter again, I like summer but I can't stand the heat anymore

Norfie becomes beautiful. Once, I had a black cat named "Shadow", he was fierce against other cats, got wounded in his nights quarrels and died. Now, I have a 6 months female named Prima, she is delicious.
