I own a '58 Fleetwood! Regent Green (emerald) lower, Acadian green (mint) upper, and green Tunisian cloth/leather (4 shades of green) interior. Green, green, green. It is so spectacularly over-the-top with lots of feminine rolls and cleavage to her figure - Lincolns are from Mars, Cadillacs are from Venus. That aluminum ribbed quarter panel is not just a piece of surface trim but is actually the fender...it can be removed leaving the space entirely open. And those fins will take out a kidney...ask me how I know! 'I KNOOOOW!' Thanks for showcasing this amazing car! and congrats to the fun owner couple too! (sorry for all the exclamations but that's what a '58 Fleetwood will do to you!)

The 1958 Fleetwood Sixty Special holds the worlds record for the most number of pieces of side body trim. It takes 18 different stainless steel and grooved aluminium panels to cover each side of this magnificent Cadillac Motor Car. The grooved shield is extremely thick and not attached to the body shell in the rear quarter panel. It is a stand alone piece that is the side of the car itself held in place with a heavy gauge steel frame. The Sixty Special was further distinguished from the standard Cadillac and Eldorado Cars by having an extra 3 and a half inches of wheelbase to enhance the tremendous sweep of the grooved aluminum trim panel. The rear of the Sixty Special was unique as well. It was the only model to feature extra large backup lights framed with the same heavy gauge grooved aluminum panel to match the sides with a central trunk handle which no other model had. Above this were the gold Fleetwood block letters. Still they weren't finished. All the Cadillacs had a smooth rear bumper, the Sixty Special had 8 vertical speed bars bolted in across the back of the bumper and the taillight assembly wore an extra chrome trim section that joined the trunk trim panel. You could also load your car with 12 factory options. The 1958 was the flashiest fanciest finest most fabulous Fleetwood of them all. Dr. Carnutington

Absolute over the top luxury and elegance in this Sixty Special. Puts all others to shame! Yes this is true American 👍 symbol of the time. This and 1961 Imperial LEBARON (both in formal black) are my ultimate dream boats or should I use the more appropriate term LAND YACHTS 😀?

Words can not come close to describing all this beauty! It is truly magnificent. Everything a Cad is supposed to be - huge, gorgeous, grand, indulgent, spacious, silent, plush, well made, and more. NO foreign car, except the Rolls and the Bentley, can come close. None of them, but it needs a ring job. It smokes.

They are not "bullet" bumpers nor Dagmars, though Dagmar is the widely used (rude) term by those that don't know better.
They are BUMPER BOMBS. They were styled to simulate the bombers returning from WWII that inspired Harley Earl.
