Most of this depends on your body type. I am an extreme ectomorph and after 8 months of dedicated lifting in my 20's I put all of 2 lbs. of muscle on my 6ft. 1in. 140 lb. frame. Others in my family with more mesomorphic tendencies have a more muscular body to begin with ( 5 foot 10, 165 pounds) and could always gain without too much effort. This is not a complaint, I appreciate the fact that at age 65 I am still very lean just not all that muscular.

I have never commented on any TH-cam video, but this is worthy. This should be a Ted Talk. Been following and watching for a while and of all the amazing advice, tips, science, encouragement, and all else, this is the thing that young (I am not young, but I teach them) lifters and really, the mass need to hear. It’s good to embrace differences, yet somehow people forget they are not the same as other lifters.

Randomly in my recommended but I appreciated the message immensely. I used to get called skinny bone jones and the stick bug from A Bug's Life alot when I was younger. I just turned 20 and for the past year I've been working out consistently and still working on my dieting. I gained 40lbs and I still look like and average Joe, although my inspirations were to build a body like Chris Evans in Captain America or Michael B Jordan in Black Panther. I've gotten compliments on my body recently and I've never had that before in my life! But I always still feel ugly honestly because I don't have the body of a superhero. After listening to what you have to say I realize I've been going about my body journey all wrong. I need to stop comparing myself to other people because I'll never have a body like them, but I can still look good in my own skin. Thanks man 👊🏾

for me this is almost perfectly accurate. Been lifting almost 20 years, Powerlifting and bodybuiding naturally. My arms were very petite when i started like 33 cm but now I've had same size arms like past 10 years. My wrist is 16.5cm and my bicep is ~41.5cm cold . I can't grow my arms past this point no matter what i do, unless i put on 20kg fat that increases the bicep by couple cm. This also has lot to do with your wing span etc. so ratio will look different on different people.
